Hey Rachelle! Great advice for freshmen, especially the part where you talk about building a schedule and being intentional with your time! Subbed, keep up the good work :)

I do think that UW is a competitive school to a certain degree because most students are competing to get into their majors. However, this really depends on the major you want to pursue. Unfortunately, I don't know too much about UW's school of pharmacy but you can find more info at sop.washington.edu/department-of-pharmaceutics/. I hope this helps! :)
Hi! I’m going to be a freshman this fall at UW and your video helped so much!! Any advice on which dorm to live in your freshman year? I’m a bit of a nature junky but am super excited to see the city but want to feel like I live on my campus rather than near it you know? Any advice? Thank you!
Hi! Yeah, I'll recommend living on the North Campus and most freshmen live in McCarty! Living on North Campus definitely makes you feel like you're actually on campus rather than near it :)
yay congrats so excited for you! yes i did, dw i was actually quite nervous for the classes too but you can use online resources such as rate my prof to see what other students thought about the classes you are going to take!
Hey! I really liked your video. I am a political science major and I am considering UW to transfer. Is it true it is hard to get into classes and there is people paying under the table to get themselves into classes? Also, Don't you have summer off?
Hi Gioser :) Thanks so much! While it is true that some classes are hard to get into, I don't think it is true that people are paying under the table to get into the classes. Also, as long as you are on-time for your registration you have a good chance of getting into pre-req classes :)
Hey! Quick question, i dont have time to watch your vid yet (i will later) but do you know how much per year tuition is? I've seen so many different numbers and it's getting confusing

Hi! Getting into CS intro classes isn't too hard because the classes are pretty big However, getting into the major is quite competitive. It is not impossible, but you would have to do super well inside and outside the classroom. This is because UW changed CS to be majority direct admits. Good luck though, I believe in you! I hope this helps.
@@shine_simoneNo problem! I was able to ask a few upperclassmen who is in CS and here's what they have to say. Projects: Work on personal projects that you find interesting! You can find a lot of examples, and a lot of people like to post their public repositories. I personally believe that building web applications is a great way to get started. There are a lot of guides and examples across the web and tons of API's that allow you to accomplish almost anything. Working with a group can be really good as well, and can help you understand the workflow for software engineers in the professional world. Projects are great for students in their first/second year of college and can add a lot of value and character to your resume. Hackathons are a great place to get started on projects and learn about many other projects. For UW, Dubhacks is a hackathon where you get to meet a bunch of other students, industry mentors, and recruiters while making interesting projects. RSO: There are a handful of organizations on campus that can help you get involved in CS. There are engineering fraternities, as well as organizations within the CS department. Being in a group of like-minded students allows you to get your hands on resources much more easily. Research: If you really enjoy a particular class, reach out to the professor and the TA's about research opportunities. Research can vary depending on what subfield of computer science you go into, but it is mainly focused on pushing the boundaries on what is possible in the tech field today. The best way to get involved is find a grad student who is working on a project that you find interesting, and reach out to them. Internships: Internships are the stepping stones to get a full-time job in the software engineering industry. If you are able to build up your resume thorugh personal projects, working within groups, or doing research, you won't have too much trouble securing interviews for internships. Most companies only look for interns that are juniors, but it isn't uncommon for sophomores to find internships too. Most internships opportunities are over the summer, but there are a handful of companies that do part-time throughout the school year.
Rachelle Lui wow... I can’t thank you more for your precious reply:) Your advice really means a lot to me, as a fresh-freshman not knowing what to do:( I also hope that this channel will get you what you want. Good luck!
