- Details of Legal Eagle I-43
At 237.5#, it is generally agreed among the Legal Eagle higherups that I-43 is the lightest weight, highest performance 4 stroke Legal Eagle in the world. 765 FPM ROC average conditions on a still tight motor running too much prop for optimum climb.
Please excuse all the hacking and sniffing.Yeah, I know, pretty gross.
The designer considers jury struts mandatory.
You know you got yo' sheet together when you use mountain bike brakes on your plane and they work. Never would've thought of that in a million years...Living the American Dream...Living the Dream of a lotta guys......Great work and keep the vids coming....
Love it man! Been flying ultralights since '78. I'm a retired professional pilot and I can say that there's nothing better than low 'n slow in an ultralight or LSA aircraft. Thank you for a great video!
hi can we be afrind
I love the plane. So much character. Also, I would listen to this gentleman describe a piece of moldy bread.
Thank you for the tour and explanation of parts that wear out and fail. Great tour much appreciated.
This is one of the best aviation videos on youtube - and I have wasted my life on youtube.
This gentleman needs to narrate a western book. Beautiful plane!
Or a Southern one.
If If I am not mistaken those brakes are avid BB7s . They are a great quality cable mountain bike brake I have them on my bicycle and will be putting them on my double eagle when it is completed! Thanks Joe for showing that confidence in ones abilities and ingenuity is what flying can be about!
What a lovely build. Far beyond what I'm capable of!
That's a real nice video Joe. I wish more legal eagle builders would give us a little tour like this...
I love your airplane. I really admire people who can do this kind of stuff. Good pilot too.
Excellent film footage commentary and sound.
Thanks for the tour , it's very informative specially for the people tha tare interested in building one, your PUTT PUTT is an excellent model. Thanks
Such a cool little plane. I'm a vet and I'm thinking of building one of these or an A-plane to fly around in. Good therapy.
that is so cool, to see this up close and details, could appreciate more like this, thanks
I love PuttPutt! If I ever build a Legal Eagle, it will be just like this one!
Thanks for the round about of ole Putt Putt I'm sure he's like a old friend and your child in the same note ya baby..!!
Oh, Putt Putt, you're such a fine steed! Run those rivers!!!! Run them through!!!!
That's one heck of an ultralight. Good work.
Beautiful plane! Definitely has character!
Thank you, wonderfull aircraft.
You put this video on yesterday and have 119 views ready. Amazing amount of interest I'd say there Joe. Hey, make a video of you taking off and flying to the lake and back. That would be the bomb Joe. Thanks. Tim
Man , PuttPutt is a cool plane.. He looks like he would be a great plane to see the land in.. Lol
You should get an emergency shut off switch on a cable so when you're in the field something bad doesn't happen
Very cool little plane. Looks like you've got a lot of blood, sweat and tears in her. Thanks for the great video - enjoyed it!
sweet little ride
Nicely done! Can't wait to get mine built.
Excellent, greetings from Chile
Nicely demostrate thanks
If you want your smoke system to work better and smell better use baby oil not diesel fuel. Also less messy. Nice job on your plane. Can't wait to get started on my own le.
Hickory chips give a superior flavor.
Very nice
Thanks for the video.
congratulations Joe!
Sounds like Carl from sling blade.
Go Putt Putt, go! Outstanding!
Nice job with Putt-Putt,,I plan to build one. How can I get a hold of you? Also great river flying!!!
That is awesome, love it!
Was kind of expecting it runs on moonshine .... :)
great rig. looks like fun
Has anyone ever tried this in a bi-wing version that you know of? I am building from scratch and no plans but the legal eagle is extremely close to what I'm trying to do. The only difference being that I've decided to try to make a biplane version of the style. I can't seem to find any biplane versions of the Legal Eagle, but for that matter, I cant even seem to find one that has had its whole fuselage covered?? Why is this? I would think the drag you could get rid of would be more benefit than the weight savings you get by leaving it open. Someone set me straight on that because I'm thinking the fact that I cant find a single enclosed one means I must be wrong..? One last difference on mine is that I'll be trying a Honda GX670 instead of the VW. I'm actually a longtime VW hobbyist but I just happen to have the Honda engine fall in my lap and with some diff carbs and cam, and stripping it down for weight, I'm banking on being able to get 35hp out of it and it weighing apprx 70lbs. Sorry about writing a book.. I'm done now. haha
Master !. Cut exposed ends of Jubilee clips. Save ?.
Where are you located? I’m in Kentucky and I’m just interested in possibly getting into ultralights. I’m a private pilot of many years but it’s so expensive I’m just not able to rent much anymore since I retired and I’m flying solo most of the time so anyway thank you for posting.
Hi Joe ...missing your videos. Are you still flying?
Great video as always!
Thank you for sharingIt is areal hard working product How i can get the plan and the explanation movies

Joe I am looking to build a legal eagle too. Could you tell me where you cut weight? And maybe some building tips?
Awesome film best walk n talk I've seen on here Dan's j.s great amazing source of info but to scripted ur natural flow kinda comforting in words arnt naturally spoken as misleading and so easily predictable conversation cant tell if it's easily just scripted lines read off cue cards n its just a show uk... great job for real awesome tho putt$putt da shit not tha stankin kind 4R lol hope all yall reading this enjoy the day n do great
i lie your commentary style brief and to the point and without aggravating music. Some music background noise destroys the video. Anyway thanks for the interesting video. i would like to know more about that powerplant!
Класс! Металлическое крыло -- это очень надёжно!
