I have had terrible pain for years off and on with spinal stenosis and sciatica. Your advice has helped amazingly. I am so grateful to you for sharing your sensitive wisdom and knowledge of the problem and realistic if not easy ways to fix it. 😊
I’m devastated after mri showed I have Osteo Arthiritis and spinal stenosis in lower back! My leg and feet start getting numb and extremely painful very quickly on walking around the house. I’m going to do these exercises and sure enough should help. Thank you so much, been so depressed as I’m a very active and hard working person. I started getting back stress and pain a few years ago, bending fwd washing dishes n cooking at home. I’ll have to reset my chores. Thank you again and bless you.
Mri from middle age or after injuries will not be that of an injury free 20 year old and you have to find workarounds to reduce pain triggers and build them into your day. Good luck.
Thank you for this. I was diagnosed with lumbar stenosis in L3-4, L4-5, and L 5-S1 along with herniated disks L3-S1. I have psoriatic arthritis that and the weight gain I had with my kids they destroyed my back because I didn't show any physical signs of my arthritis until years down the line. I've been diagnosed for a while but I've learned more from you that my doctor and the rounds of physical therapists I've seen. I was able to walk majority of the way through Costco today and know how to ensure I can walk tomorrow. Without your videos that trip to Costco would have planted me wherever my body decided to give out for a few days until my back decided to relax. Now I got home took some nsaids, did a wet heating pad on my back and then used the massage gun you recommend in this video and took a nap and did some light stretches and I could do that without aid from my husband. Nothing is worse than being under 40 and be in so much pain when you wake up that even the roll bar you got isn't helping because you spine and the muscles around it refuse to do anything without excruciating pain.
Dear lady I’m not one to tell you to loss wt to help your back you have probably already heard that. What helped me the most was going keto and getting rid of the carbs. Yes, I lost weight but also I don’t wake with the pain I had. The pain wasn’t just my spine but my feet hurt as soon as the hit the floor. I couldn’t make a fist in the morning. The carbs feed the inflammation. One crazy side effect of keto was my ugly skin tags on my neck went away. Really, it’s a thing. Hope you continue to do well on your journey. I just wanted to share the biggest thing that helped me. I don’t have to sleep in a recliner any more.
Thank u soo mch for all ur guidance. I have been diagnosed with lumbar spinal stenosis. Leaving all those stretches behind when I started ur tips I feel much better and I am able to work 9 to 10 hours continously standing because m a chef. Yes of course I do have pain but it's really mild which I can bear it. I was unable to stand even for an hour before which I have really improved without any types of Injection so far. God bless u keep updating more about root fixing exercises. U have changed my life 🙏😊😊
You're welcome Suvan! Sorry to hear about your lumbar spinal stenosis :-( We're glad to hear that you've returned to working and enjoying life!!! We wish you the very best in getting your back as healthy as possible for the long-term!!!
Thank you so much for all these videos on lumbar spinal stenosis. Three years ago I developed excruciating sciatic pain. This year, after an MRI, I was diagnosed with severe lumbar stenosis. Three years ago I found that sleeping on my back helped to relieve some of the pain. I used to sleep on my side de. I also bought a Tempur pedic mattress which is helpful. Should I continue sleeping on my back? I have a Stressless recliner but I am still in pain when I use it and sit for too long. I haven’t tried sleeping on it.
Fantastic! Diagnosed with spinal stenosis this year. I have found new hope. I have found sleeping on my back with a pillow under me knees or on side with pillow between. Help tremendously. I have a memory foam topper which goes on everywhere possible. Along as the mattress underneath hasn't dipped l couldn't recommend highly enough. Thank you so much for your Technical but understandable Videos. Cheryl Australia
I would love to get a recliner! Last year I went to the hospital emergency department in Sydney Australia with a shooting pain in my groin that caused a severe panic attack. They put me in a recliner and I actually dozed off it was so comfortable. It was gut related with associated lumbar spine and sciatica pain.
Dr. David, I just finished your 28 day program....man, have I gotten better. I was sleeping around 3-4 hours a night and now I'm backc to my normal of 6-7. My overall soreness has probably decreased by about 75- percent throughout the day. I'm going to cycle through another 28 days to improve upon those numbers even more.
Hi, Ron! WHOOOHOOO!!! We're so happy to hear you've gotten better using our 28 Day Back Health and Wellness Boost Program! We're especially glad you're back to sleeping 6-7 hours a night and that you're soreness has decreased! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the advice, I tried it but that makes the front hurt.but when I massage the calf, the front and behind the knee the pain is a lot less. Thanks.
My MRI shows severe stenosis. I completed your 28 day back program which helped quite a bit. I don’t think I’ll ever be pain-free. I bought a Tempur-pedic electric bed which helps a good bit. I also have an electric hand massager which I use every night. I’m still not sure I am going to be able to avoid minimally invasive surgery, so I am praying for wisdom. the pain really limits my sitting time which is frustrating because I love to travel. I see my third neurosurgeon next week for my final consult.
She said I need 2 discs removed and 2 vertebrae fused. 80-90% of her patients are pain free after 3 months. So thankful for this option although it’s a big surgery.
4 months out from my spinal fusion and almost pain free. Aquatic PT is really helping. She said if I would have seen her first I Would not have needed surgery. Too late now. Onward and forward!
I enjoyed your presentation you did a great job. I have stenosis and have the adjustable bed you mentioned but what is the best position for the adjustable bed ? Love to hear back from you Again thx so much for your video
You're welcome @user-ik6tr4lf1v!!! The best adjustable bed position for stenosis is to lie on your back with the back elevated and the legs elevated. Similar to how you would lie on a recliner. In fact, many people with spinal stenosis that don't have an adjustable bed get the best sleep on their recliners.
Thank you so much for all you're help, I wish I knew if there is some one in SOUTH AFRICA CAPE TOWN or in GEORGE WESTERN CAPE that can do what you do. ❤
Thank you so much, just purchased 28 day back wellness ..I am confident I am on my way to avoiding recommended laminectomy! Question...I have an adjustable bed. What's the best position/setting? To decompress..most of my sciatica is while lying before bed and waking up.
I love love love your videos. Want to stay out of surgery with my stenosis. Thank you so much. Will look for your 28 day program. I have a 3 inch topper on my avocado bed.
Thanks for putting these good vids out. I used weed for the nerve pain, it kind of backfired. Seemed to work, but then my muscles were so relaxed that my bones lost the little support they had and it didn't help with that pain, it made it hurt sooner if anything. That and it made situations with myself me seem ok, that I'm really not ok with.
Thank you for all the help I really appreciate taking your time to help I wish I knew if there is any Dr in SOUTH AFRICA - CAPE TOWN OR IN GEORGE SOUTHERN CAPE who does the same treatment as you do. Really appreciate it ❤

Hi LBillie, Thank you so much for mentioning that! Tell us more about the recliner. What is the brand and how has it helping you? This info would be helpful to anyone who might be interested.
I started sleeping in my adjusted bed after fracturing 3 vertebrae and discovering lying on my back didn't feel so great I find the bed quite comfortable, I can turn on my side if I want, which forces me into a fetal position, and getting out of bed is much easier. But I'm still not sleeping very well. 😢
I have a problem with my lumbar I was having a problem with the lower back up to my right side I was having like a then when I wake up in the in the morning I would get up in the morning and I will be catching my knees to walk to the bathroom. And I would have to stretch it would only act up only if I lay down. Like you said doctor's only want to give you medicine.
Do you have a video on how to relax the hip flexors? By the way I got the side pillow and the top 3 inch cushion for bed, and ab bar on Amazon. waiting for their arrival.

Ah my doctor told me the lumbar stenosis was arthritis. Just reinforces my lack of confidence in her as a doctor. I am looking for a new doctor anyway. I have foraminal stenosis in my neck, C4 I think. In the past year I have discovered that I have sleep apnoea, so I think sleeping in a recliner might not be good for that (being on my back makes me snore). My daughter has one of those adjustable beds with the memory foam mattress or topper and when I pet sit I sleep in her bed and my Fitbit tells me that I deep sleep twice as long as I do in my own bed. I had no idea that lumbar stenosis could be cured and was surprised to hear you say as much. I’ve been in pain for years with my two spinal stenosis. One doctor said I should probably have an operation on my neck sooner rather than later but I am not inclined to. Everyone I have ever known who has had spinal surgery regrets it and says their quality of life got worse and not better. I make myself go for a 20 or sometimes 30 minute walk but I’m quite often fatigued by it but I’m trying to keep a certain level of fitness and keep moving. Thanks for the stretches and exercises, I have subscribed
I have had spinal fusion of L2_L5 three years ago.I still pain which has gotten worse ! Have appointment next week with pain specialist. Praying I can get some relief
Dear man! All your videos are at least 8 months old. I wish I had come across you sooner. I hope you still look in on new comments. Would you please address the condition of scoliosis when combined with stenosis? I have both and was told by the surgeon that the stenosis is mild, yet cannot stand more than 8 minutes and can only walk upright for about 15 before I have to lean over. That tells me the scoliosis is the main culprit yet the symptoms are stenosis times 5. I have done many of your exercises and they have helped me get from 5 minutes to 8 minutes. Anything else I should be doing?? Thank you!
Thanks for the video. What do you think of the McGill Exercises. He advises not to stretch. He claims to have research to back him. I'm a practicing podiatrist with severe back pain. I'd love to speak with you about my problem. Any chance? I'd be happy to pay for a consultation.
You first suggestion about getting a recliner doesn't work if pressure on your backside causes pain. My pain is not just in one of my legs, but also in my upper buttock on the side with the stenosis. For the same reason, I can't sleep on my back in bed and have to sleep on my right side. Sitting for long periods also leads to pain. Ironically, I can walk pretty much pain-free.
Thank you. Really suffering with lubar stenosis and arthritis in my left hip. I'm always in pain when standing and walking. Thank God, it subsides when sitting. I have a Sleep Number with a memory foam topper. I'll try softening it and raising the head and legs a bit. In PT now. Is it normal that PT makes the pain worse for a while?
Thank you for v valuable information. Excellent stretches. Do you suggest pelvic tilt before bringing both knees to the chest, while lying down? About sleeping in fetal position: When I place pillow between the legs, sometimes my knees get numb or painful and calves get tight after a full night of sleep in fetal position. Please advise
Hey Gul! Sorry to hear about the numbing you experience after a night a sleep this is not uncommon as the body is not significantly active during sleeping hours so general stiffness and tightness can occur. We can't really answer exactly what could be causing this as we don't have information on your diagnosis. As far as your question on pelvic tilt - Yes we absolutely recommend it this will allow you to perform the exercise correctly. Here are some additional resources for you: “Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Help” ua-cam.com/play/PLJVIPiFvv1mYxifSEM8bNacVpyTmc3_Ys.html We are wishing you the best! 🙌
What do you suggest be done if someone also has osteoarthritis as well as DDD, osteoporosis and broke their hip and had a replacement which doesn't seem to be doing well and they simply do not get sleep at all? My husband has suggested we get an adjustable bed.
Bro honestly love all tips shared but heres one for size coz I hate pillow work, try on for size 3 plastic bottles at night yall, for simpler design, simpler position, simpler process I can vouch it works wonders that is if you can manage 3 cylinder plastics in bed w you I never had more peaceful easy sleep bro
My doctor that read my last MRI rates it at moderate but I have been in debilitating pain all the way down my leg. Gabapentin helps a lot but doesn't take it away. Wonder if it was mis read or if something else is going on. Sleeping or really doing anything is near impossible. Can't work a full 8 hours . Can't sit or stand too long. So painful.

So, with the adjustable bed, which I have, how does one sleep???? Isn't this just for back sleepers which I"m not? If u are a side sleeper, this is not good for back and esp. not good for neck cuz makes you crunch?
Severe osteoporosis and lumbar stenosis. This week i cannot lift buttock off bed to move in bed. It causes pain. Even placing hands beneath buttock to reposition is barely feasible.

Hi Dr. El Paso, I am thinking of joining your 28 days program. I have suffered from low back pain for one year. The pain started with mild discomfort to today sharp pain on my buttocks and leg. I have X-rays and MRI, it show severe stenosis on L4,5. And arthritis on S 1, with lots of impingement on nerve roots. I wonder if the 28 days program suit my situation. I’m on Tylenol for Arthritis daily in order to go to gym and swimming. Please let me know of your opinion . Thank you very much. Susan
Well now…this is pretty disappointing. Just kidding, of course. Over the years, I’ve already figured out all of these tips. They work! One thing I’ve done that helps that you didn’t mention: I cut a hole out of my mattress topper just where the facet joints seem especially sharp. Side-sleeping isn’t possible for me due to trochanteric bursitis.
The recliner works great for naps but I need to move around a bit at night. I invested in a Stearns and Foster mattress with the the ajustable frame. I put it in the zero gravity position with a pillow under my knees and I just sink into a soft comfortable sleep. It was very expensive but I look at it this way: I spend 8 hours of good sleep in this bed and that is spending one third of my life there. I just wish I had done it sooner!
my dear friend very good and useful velog for all effected people but we are in vry poor country and i cant afford these all items plz only for like poor people creat and make a vedio thank you plz dont mind plz

Great video, id like to get that body pillow u mentioned tho I see no link for it
Thank you!
That is exactly my situation and question!
Gratidão
Can someone who has lumbar nerve canal stenosis perform the pull-up exercise?
How do you I fin out about 28 days program i have severe stenosis to. Lumbar spine.

So painful.
I have spinal stenosis, but my pain is in the hemstring, and pins and needles down my leg. Is this all related? Any advice would be appreciated
Hey Shahnaz! Yes, the pain in your hamstring and pins and needles down your leg could be coming from your spinal stenosis. Here is a great playlist we have on spinal stenosis help! Hope you are able to get relief :-)

Can’t find 39 day program for spinal stenosis
So, with the adjustable bed, which I have, how does one sleep???? Isn't this just for back sleepers which I"m not? If u are a side sleeper, this is not good for back and esp. not good for neck cuz makes you crunch?
can l use that gadget with a new hip 🌹
Sleep is HORRIBLE with lumbar spinal stenosis!!!
It's even harder with a double total hip replacement
What if you’re a back sleeper?
I bought a electric zero gravity chair from Human Touch..it saved my life, sanity
Severe osteoporosis and lumbar stenosis. This week i cannot lift buttock off bed to move in bed. It causes pain. Even placing hands beneath buttock to reposition is barely feasible.

Hey Sandra! Sorry to hear that you've got pain behind your knees :-(
Pull in your knees from behind your thighs so you don't force your knees to bend into pain.

Hi Dr. El Paso,
I am thinking of joining your 28 days program. Susan
I can’t walk I have leg pain from my Spine fracture
Well now…this is pretty disappointing.
Just kidding, of course. Over the years, I’ve already figured out all of these tips. They work!
One thing I’ve done that helps that you didn’t mention: I cut a hole out of my mattress topper just where the facet joints seem especially sharp.
Side-sleeping isn’t possible for me due to trochanteric bursitis.
The recliner works great for naps but I need to move around a bit at night. I invested in a Stearns and Foster mattress with the the ajustable frame. I put it in the zero gravity position with a pillow under my knees and
I just sink into a soft comfortable sleep.
