Im going to explode if I don't share this idea/headcanon I have plspls (Sanemi) The reason he is SO against Nezuko (besides her being a demon) is because it makes him think back to his mum. He thinks/feels stuff like: WHAT is different about Nezuko and his mother??? His mum was his perfect hero, how could some little girl be... better? Is it related to how much she cares about Tanjiro? Does that mean his mum didn't love him and his siblings as much as Nezuko loved her family?? How could that be possible? Does that mean that maybe, he didn't have to kill his mum? Could she still be here, like Nezuko? - and then that would make him feel MORE guilty than he probably already does. ALSO I feel like reaction vids of him always skip over his other siblings besides Genya, Im sure he grieves them just as powerfully as he does his mother. Especially since, realistically, he never said bye. He killed his demon mother, Genia yelled at him, and he dipped out. He didn't get to see them be laid to rest, or say goodbye. He ran away.
