To think you shut down the shields for that Kamikaze a-wing. GREAT JOB!!! I must have missed that in the movie. But like Chewbacca, you won't get your medal for your heroic actions haha.
it's the camera angle when that shield generator blows up... I'm just out of frame to the upper left in that scene. promise.
I do get a medal though... eventually ;)
I always just used 'have wingmen attack this target's component' on this mission. Then I just dumped all the missiles into one of the shield generators, let them take the other.
to my great shame, I didn't actually realize that was something you could tell your squadmates... -__-

My biggest disappointment with the game when I was a kid was how Endor was broken up into 4 missions, and you’re flying the Falcon, not an x-wing. For reasons...
When I was a kid I was making my own Endor mission where the player is Red 2, the majority of rebel capital ships had invincibility turned on so they could go toe to toe with the imperial ships, and the Star destroyers would have their AI nerfed. The Rebel fleet would exit hyperspace, turn around, the Death Star would fire after 10 minutes, and every rebel capital ship would actually have flight plans to make them engage the imperials at point blank range. After the executor is destroyed you have to run for a nav buoy to exit the mission and start the Tunnel Run, except the Death Star launches TIE Defenders to stop you. I did all this and then the motherboard on my old computer burned out and I lost that custom mission forever.
I recently downloaded Allied Mission Editor on my current laptop but it doesn’t work right for some reason. Would seriously venmo somebody $50 to do this for me and put the results up on UA-cam…
I know there are a few custom missions out there where people have modded in the ability to fly at least the tunnel run in other ships.
re: hardware failure... back before the internet, I used to make Doom 1+2 maps... I even made a custom extra campaign using the Doom: Alien TC mod... all of it disappeared with the next computer-upgrade and didn't think to copy it. Same thing with my old 'mod'/'tracker'-music. Don't even have those on tapes any more :(
as for the Allied Mission editor... I forget, but is it possible it's a 16-bit program and your version of windows wont run that any more? (that's what happened to me when I tried editing some TIE Fighter missions to fix bugs).
@@Calmputer oh yeah. I remember it was pretty easy in Allied to just change the player ship. My custom battle of Endor was just a heavily modded version of the 1st mission, but the end game timer is removed, the Death Star fires, I borrow the voice files from Mission 2 and 3, the primary objective becomes destroying the Executor and between the whole rebel fleet and the rebel fighters and yourself, the super Star Destroyer goes down quick. It’s definitely undergunned in regular XWA and even in the XWAUpgrade mod it’s not much better. Then I just put in more speech to signal that the shield is down, added a nav buoy and the new primary objective of all fighters to head for it, and added a bunch of TIEs launching from the Death Star to stop you reaching it.
Idk what’s wrong with Allied. I have windows 10 on my laptop, I can open the program but when I try to do anything like create a flight group of x-wings for example. I get an error message. Idk it’s frustrating because watching this makes me want to do it again
I just tried AlliED, and I'm getting access violation error messages. regardless of whether I launch it in administrator mode or not... it runs just fine on my old WinXP laptop though... I'm guessing it's some incompatibilities with Win10.
Now that you mentioned it, sort of... it is weird that you take down the SSD in mission 2, even though the shield goes down in mission 3?

It’s so weird how they split up the Endor mission, all so that Ace can 1) be in the Falcon, I’m guessing he was one of the copilots in the back, 2) destroy the executor, 3) also destroy the Death Star. They have to switch around the whole order of the battle to make this work and I don’t like it. Would much rather be in a rebel fighter and not do the tunnel run. Have the tunnel run as a special bonus mission.
I'd say they have you fly the Falcon so you get to do the Death Star run, which would hard to justify otherwise unless you went full alternate universe (which I suppose you do anyway if we interpret that as Ace Azzameen piloting the Falcon in Calrissian's place).
