How To Paint A HEMA/Fencing Mask

In this video, I explain the process i use to paint my fencing mask. I practice HEMA, but this will work regardless of whether you use your mask for HEMA, modern fencing, or SCA.

what kind of coat is the clear one at the end? Is it a sealant? I have a can of red acrylic that I am planning on using on my black mask (red dragon) for an Astartes design. Should I do this clear coat?

how hard would you consider your sparring sessions to be and if they are, how well has the mask been holding up?

theyre reasonably intense. nothing too brutal. the paint is still holding up fine, just not as high-contrast as when i first painted it. sometimes ill touch up the black parts with a paint pen.
