    Standard arabic is sooo different and difficult than egyptian... I prefer the Egyptian language much more.

    I get the feeling the best way to learn is to watch arabs talk to each other cos it creates a setting and you can see how the words are used and in which context,learning words one after the other means you must put them into context.

    My egyptian coworkers say that they don't use zaujati, they use mrati

      This is correct for Egypt. We use mirati - for my wife

      It depens... It is also used zawgti or zougti in Egyptian. Many times they also say Mother of and the name of the first kid of her.😁

    When asking "what is this?", how can I know which gender to use given that I clearly don't know what the "thing" is (since I am asking what it is 😉)

      It is never a problem to ask in the wrong person coz yuou don' t know the gender, and so, the article of the word. Ask as for a masculine and people will ansewr you what the word is, as well as the article. Don' t worey! You and the others know that you are a foreigner.😉
