People need to stop saying that Dominguez will be in LF. Did we learn nothing from last season? Dominguez is best in CF so Judge or Soto will need to be in LF.
Chasing the top dollar is not always best... Remember Robbie Cano. I am sure if he had it to do over again, he would have chosen different. Regarding The Martian put him in CF and stop forcing players to be out of position. 2:47
wasn't part of the reason Cano left was because the team valued signing Ellsbury over him? could have sworn that upset him. i don't believe it was all about money.
@jamesstinedurf9841 There was a lot of backlash about his lack of hustle a lot of the same issues gleybar was hearin excpet Cano was a much stronger defender. I do noknremember if it was strictly money so you could be correct bur Seattle offered more money
I think it's pretty obvious that one Soto wants to come back to the Yankees but he wants to kind of force them to pay up and give him a representative salary either have the highest true present day money or the highest aav. In order to get the Yankees to get to that point you have to make it interesting hence what we're living right now
Its like the rodon signing they had no choice but to sign him after cashman messed up the rotation around cole at the 22 deadline . Now they have no choice but to give soto what he wants because cashman messed up the outfield around judge these last few years
Been on the durbin train for a while. I’d prefer a big league 2B with a track record but I’m all for giving durbin a shot if need be. Just looks likes a ball player and he’s a good offensive profile
We have to give these kids a chance to become that star for us. Stop worrying about if they can't compete and give them the confidence they need to be a great player for the Yankees by playing them. I think Durbin and the Martian will be just fine.....PLAY THE KIDS BEFORE THEY LOSE THERE CONFIDENCE.
Berti is soon to be 35 who dealt with multiple soft tissue injuries and wasn’t it also a hip? I’d rather him gone. Cabrera and Durbin over keeping Berti. Just my opinion.
The Yankees finished 24th in stolen bases and 25th in fielding. They need to improve those areas to be a complete team. Torres had 4 stolen bases and had more errors than any second baseman in baseball. Durbin is an upgrade there.
YOU ARE "BIAS" !!!! IF YOUR RIGHT ? IF EVERYONE IS RIGHT AND AND HE'S WORTH THE $$$$ THEN HE WILL CREATE RESULTS AND MAKE RECORDS ON THE METS >> HE'S NOT GOING TO BE "FORGOTTEN " IF HE IS THAT GOOD THEN HE IS GOOD >> I DONT GET IT ??
What from last year gives us any kind of confidence in Dominguez playing left!!! I thought he was gonna be playing CF? We’re constantly playing people out of position and ruining their careers. Dj perennial GG 2nd baseman put him at 3rd…IKF GG 3rd baseman put him at SS … GRISHAM GG CF don’t play em at all WTF!!!
I would suggest trying Soto at first base. He is a bat first lefty with a decent arm who doesn’t run well. Sounds like a good candidate for a first baseman to me.
Makes sense for the Budget ‘ in house’ means cheaper and that’s what Hal and Cash like.So what if that mean less experienced and less skilled that the best free agent at that position. And that is why you can count on 15 more years of no championship the Dodgers just proved it.
If Caleb Durbin excels as the Yankees 2nd Baseman in 2025, Jazz Chisholm Jr, will play at 3rd Base. Volpe will be at ShortStop. The only issue for the Yankees in 2025 is 1st base. Once the Yankees solidify the infield, they must address the pitching rotation and the bullpen.
DJ has 2 years left at $15M - there’s ZERO financial benefit in cutting him and we’re talking about a bench spot Do you really think they’ll spend $30M in effect - unnecessarily - for a pretty minor improvement in that spot? I don’t see it
That’s the amount left on both hicks and Arod had when NY cut ties. DJ has been TERRIBLE last 2 years minus 2 months end of 2023. He can’t play defense bc the injuries have affected his mobility. Even if they don’t spend that money. Get rid of the wasted spot on roster and bench. He will ultimately be useless except it doesn’t allow them to add someone who can help.
@ ARod was something ridiculous - more like $60M and Hicks was a little more than $27M including his buyout - I’m not saying it can’t or won’t happen I just think it’s down the list as an option - at least right now
@ ARod signed for $275M/10 years in 2007. He left after about half the season in 2016 so The Yanks owed him for that season and the next @$27.5M - that’s $55M total, less what he earned while active in 2016. I didn’t look it up but that’s considerably more than $30M. So Hicks was less and ARod was more than what the6 owe DJ. ARod Left to make room for a youth movement and Hicks had such a toxic end they probably felt little choice. DJ is a Backup 1B/3B guy who they are not counting on and would be replaced by Berti maybe? That screams $30M to you? I agree the6 ma6 do It if he continues to play as he has but I don’t think the Yanks will feel any urgency to do that now though I do think the likelihood increases greatly if he plays a little and continues at the level he was at last season and as time advances and the remaining balance of the deal declines. If they’re sure he’s done during spring training - sure but I don’t know if a DFA in November is at all likely AND they save no money at all by this, they just get a bench spot back
Hicks Contract comes off the books next season. I believe Donaldson Contract comes off the books this year. I believe they will see how DJ looks this spring to determine if they cut him and eat his contract.
Do you expect that if they go with Durbin they would put him leadoff right of the bat? I just believe with him we dont solve leadoff… is volpe the answer at leadoff?
Some players just thrive at batting at leadoff in lineups, like Rickey Henderson did. Just stick him there and tell him to be on base when Judge comes to bat. It ain't like trying to put man on another planet, ok.
it's objectively true that Soto will be remembered FAR more as a Yankee than a Met -- I know Mets fans don't want to stomach that reality but it's just true.
@@JoseMedina-oc2nd this generation of players knows that while the same management from the Core 4 era remains, they didn't assemble the Core 4, and never won a World Series without the Core 4.
The only thing that scares me is how short is his. His defense can be great, but you can’t ignore the fact that a ball hit 6’5 "off the ground, he can’t get that high when most players can.
People need to stop saying that Dominguez will be in LF. Did we learn nothing from last season? Dominguez is best in CF so Judge or Soto will need to be in LF.
I would try judge in lf

Rumor has it, there were some in the Yankees organization who speculated Cano was using PED"s which explains why they let him go.
A.350+ OBP as table-setter? I'm in for that.

Pay him but will have to defer money if they want more signings
Ryan, you're my dude. Keep it up.
when yer right yer right but don't trade jones
I would like it if they give this guy a real chance to contribute in 2025.

Maybe you get more consistent play all season from 2nd base
Would likely get better defense thats for sure
Honestly DJ been a waste of a roster spot for the last 2 seasons I’d even argue last 3
Not NEARLY enough said about Durbin's LOW STRIKOUT RATE ... perfect in the Yankee lineup!!!

sometimes it's OK for players to struggle at first and learn
Well i rather put judge in LF and dominguez in cf
I would suggest trying Soto at first base. He is a bat first lefty with a decent arm who doesn’t run well. Sounds like a good candidate for a first baseman to me.
Sounds like a winner to me. He's a terrible right fielder. That should be part of the deal for signing him for him to learn 1st base.
He’s 21 years old- chill.
Yankees need a couple of players who are clutch hitters and playmakers.
LET'S GOOOOOO YANKEES

Boone a said the same about Dominguez,
Cool now we can get rid of Jazz
What’s the status of the Japanese guy that plays 3b and 1b?. Better choice than walker, younger and cheaper …..
There was talk he was struggling with hitting mid 90's fastball. This could be because he was struggling with injuries or something more?
Is he that good or is he on fire like Ben Rice was then just completely shut down
Mets are poop!!
Yeah durbin or peraza and leave jazz at third
They said they had a legitimate shortstop in Volpe . He was great all season wasn't he . Yes I'm being very sarcastic . He should have been sent down

Dominguez leading off and starting in centerfield. Think of all the good pitches he’ll see with Soto and judge behind him.
Some players just thrive at batting at leadoff in lineups, like Rickey Henderson did. Just stick him there and tell him to be on base when Judge comes to bat. It ain't like trying to put man on another planet, ok.
Buh bye berti too old and injury prone
Mets are trash they will always be 2nd fiddle to the Yankees
Doubt that Greg Goossen would agree if he was still living!
Soto would not be forgotten as a Met. Great teams and players actually exist outside the Yankees franchise.
Ehh yes and no, he would be significantly less popular on the Mets.
it's objectively true that Soto will be remembered FAR more as a Yankee than a Met -- I know Mets fans don't want to stomach that reality but it's just true.
