This was a really good military horror story with a mix of the bloody history of Ireland conflicts.

Your narration was an amazing addition.

Nah, the conflict is petty, violent and irksome regardless of which angle you attempt to view it from. It's like a bad joke that just goes on ad infinitum, interspersed with gang violence, bombs, blood grudges and beheadings. They all need to be put in the timeout corner, including England, 'cause they're all a bunch o' very naughty boys. THA END

@ Thinles Wangchuk I also like the stories with a history element , or at least an attempt at realism within a story . Really helps the build up , and the suspension of disbelief . This usually makes for longer stories , but that's totally cool with me . 💀🎱💀

Hi all, I'm the author of this story and would like to thank Dark Somnium for his excellent video! This is my first foray into horror writing and its quite the honour to have this work adapted by my favourite horror narrator. This has also been quite overwhelming as I don't think anything I've written has reached such a large audience before.
I would just like to pick up on a couple of the points made in the comments:
Firstly, as several astute readers have picked up, this story was inspired by one of my favourite Creepypastas - namely, The Harbinger Experiment by Zyon J. I would therefore like to give credit to the author here. My idea was to place this scenario in the context of the Troubles and Irish mythology, and also provide some additional historical background about the conflict.
Secondly, this story is not meant to be a political commentary on the Troubles. The narrator is a former British soldier and so the account is written from his perspective. My main aim is to highlight the ongoing legacy of the conflict, and the tragic character of Orla is meant to symbolise the conflict's victims who are forced to live with the long-term consequences of the violence.
Going forward, I hope to write a series of horror stories relating to Irish history and mythology, and hopefully to examine these themes in greater detail.
Thanks again and take care - Finn MacCool.

Besides "The Harbinger Experiment" inspiration, what was the monster that Orla turned into. Was that monster related to any creature in Irish Mythology. From my understanding, it sounded like Orla turned into a banshee. If i'm completely wrong feel free to correct me. Btw excellent work with the story.

I listen to Mr Creeps, Creepsmcpasta and others. But Dark Somnium is on a whole other level. The quality of his narrations are beyond good.
I am a poor guy and have never paid for any membership. I even get most of my movies online free. But these narrations are so good i became a Dark Acolyte member. As i feel he deserves the fee.

Exactly, I used to listen to Mr. Creeps, but his stories became too repetitive, wouldn't scare me anymore. So then I remembered the story TDS narrated which was something about never returning to the moon, and so I started listening to him, and I have been hooked ever since.

No offense, but Dr Creepen, NaturesTemper, Lighthouse Horror are ALL better and make less money than this guy. He's just a MCP/Creeps clone. Hell, Chilling Tales for Dark Nights has absolute STORMERS like Dannys Story (Scariest pasta ever, fully voice acted and with sound effects), and they only have like 200k subs, even though they do stories with every character voice acted. So yeah, this kid ain't that special and makes plenty of money for the lackluster (by comparison) effort he puts in

Fantastic storytelling and a disturbing tale.
One thing stands out, particularly from other UA-camrs - excellent pronunciation.
So many lazy UA-camrs don't go to the bother of learning correct pronunciation of place names.
This stands out as an example of how things can be done.

Mentioning your pronunciation may seem inconsequential, but it shows that you've researched your story, and have respect for the locations.
Too many UA-camrs apparently don't care about something which is important, and it has a negative impact on their content, so it speaks volumes for your dedication to producing great content...which you do.

Museum of Free Derry refers to the Catholics welcoming British soldiers making tea etc in the early days as they thought they would protect them from unionists. Only after it became clear that wasn't the case did they change. The civil rights movement was initially non sectarian. Worth a visit to learn more about the troubles.
