To delineate a watershed for a diversion weir structure, should I: 1. Use the entire basin and place my outlet point to delineate the watershed, or 2. Clip my woreda area from the DEM first and then delineate the watershed based only on the woreda area? Which approach is more suitable?@@givevalueforwater
First you should have the outlet of the watershed. After that, you should take A DEM That covers all prt of your watershed by masking from the basin or sub basin. Masking using woreda shape file may lead you to miss part of the watershed.
Is your study area covers this much area? if so you should use the DEM of the basin, but to reduce processing time you may mask or use rectangle to take your target area.

@givevalueforwater my basin is Shabelle basin, and I delineate my watershed , the area of watershed is very large it 21,174km2
