So refreshing to see a young person, who happens to be a young woman, with so much confidence and a great work ethic doing this hard work.
Thanks so much, love the videos!

Always good to check valves as you did. One night we sent the milk of 80 cows down the drain because a hand did not close the bulk tank valve.

first time viewer loved the video brings back memories not many dairies left milking in stall barns I'm 75 when I was your age there were a lot of herds of 50 or less cows supporting a family my wife's family milked around 60 cows and supported 2 families don't think you could do that today most dairies today are milking several hundred cows someone works another job for benefits and they are still having trouble making it I've been told the secret is keep debt under control you obviously enjoy it you have to to keep doing it

I grew up next to a dairy farm in the UK, and our other neighbour was an arable and cattle farm, have fond memories of going into the milking parlour early in the morning for milk for breakfast. Interesting to see how things are done elsewhere, broadly similar but infrastructure and building architecture is a bit different - and there’s way more space!

I definitely chuckled watching this great video….between the ATV running out of gas…the Jersey who broke into another pasture and didn’t want to then step over a down line…😂😅 … the remark about two cows that like to escape the barn, so yet another line within has to be put up to deter that happening…Great Video Taylor…By the way, my maiden name is Taylor….I don’t have any brothers, so I gave our daughter my maiden name as her first name…So, definitely partial to “Taylor” 💜

Very interesting program, my aunt and uncle and cousins had a small dairy and I was born on a small farm, but without the dairy, we left our farm when I was nine, in 1977. My cousin now runs the farm, my aunt and uncle retired, I'm now 54, and will never forget the time when I was a little kid in eastern s.d. we went from the farm by souix falls, to the black hills of s.d which is by rapid city s.d. a small quarter section of 120 acres, I think. It was a great place to be a child, we wound up going bankrupt at the time, is why we moved. I just want to say that I love your program, I just think it's very fun and interesting to watch, keep up the good work

I was born and raised in a big city (Elizabeth, NJ) and I spent the best summers of my life working on a 36 cow dairy farm outside of Honesdale, PA. I milked 6 cows morning and night (that didn't fit in the 30 cow barn) by hand.
I am now almost 80 years old and look back on the time I spent on that farm with fond memories
Did I mention that I love cows ?

Gosh, I didn't know 70 cow operations were still in existence. And a stall shed? Unbelievable! Here in NZ they'd close you down on health concerns. Fonterra would have a field day about it. But I enjoyed watching you. Kinda reminds me of my friends moms farm where she milked 20 jerseys back in the 60s in a stall shed. Separated the cream and fed the rest to some extremely happy pigs lol.

Taylor I am a new viewer to your videos and I enjoyed it so much
I am from Massachusetts and we don’t have many farms left so it’s refreshing to watch a small farm at work
The only thing I noticed about your video is when you were talking close to the loader the noise was a little louder than you when you were talking but I kinda got the just of what you were saying
I love the aromas accounted with farms like fresh cut hay and manure, I know it sounds kinda corny but that’s the way I am and I really like cows they are not as dumb as people think they are actually really intelligent
You do such a great job and I think if you did have a helper they could never keep up with your routine
So I wish you all the luck in days and years to come you really seem to enjoy what you are doing

Thanks. Your videos are getting better.
When I worked on my uncles small dairy farm we called the cows to come in.
How long does it take by yourself to milk?
I loved the Appaloosa colored cow. Hope you can get a wireless mike soon.

Back in the day I learned how to call the cows from my grandmother. She could see they down in the pasture from her front porch.

Love small Dairy farms. Here in Nova Scotia there are hardly any left. All being taken over by factory style massive Dairy farms.

I know what you mean it’s the same way around here. Very sad that people are more concerned about quantity rather than quality. Not to mention quality of life for the girls 🐄 ! Thanks for commenting😊

I just found your channel. I grew up in Wisconsin on a 30 cow dairy farm. Best years, lots of work, but enjoyed it. I worked in the dairy industry. Dairy farmers are the best people. I have a farm in Iowa, no livestock. Enjoyed your video and subscribed. Do you do both milking? Do you forestrip and clean the tests before attaching the teat cups? The sound at times is difficult to hear.

Sorry for bad sound quality, broke the mic on my camera and haven’t gotten it fixed yet… yes I milk both milking alongside my boss…we clean the teats and strip them out before hand. Thanks for commenting!

First time here ! Are those wood stalls? Wisconsin hasn't allowed wood in dairy barns for 40 years ! Surprised they still allow wood walls lol

We had the same issue one year with an over- mature batch of first cut clover. It was like handling bales of prickly sticks! The cows did not like it( dont blame them), and would pick through it for the leaves and flowers. Leaving a huge mess to clean out of the manger every day- not to mention all the feed value they were NOT getting...
Our girls ate like slobs, so we didnt have the option of just leaving it for a few days to get thwm to eat more. Itd get waterlogged from the splashing in the watwrcups, and the grain and silage would mix with it, and get gross
A new seeding of alfalfa was nearly as bad due to vast quantities of volunteer oats. We had plenty of extra bedding that year, lol.
Now, second cut clover/timothy mix? They went NUTS for that! Caught that at the perfect time! Full of flowers and leaves, fine, and soft. So much leaf, it was blueish green.
Never had to chase our cows down. They got grain and silage inside- so theyd be waiting at the pasture gate bllowing to let them in! Chow time!!

😂 they do love a perfect clover/timothy hay!! I wish our girls were more interested in coming in for milking, but they’re about as laid back as a cow can be ….. they just lay there staring at you when you yell “milk time!”😆

Thank you! The farm used to milk 100 Holsteins so they had to have a pretty large tank…. We get picked up every other day. Thanks for watching!!

Just how many we milked and in a stanchion barn. Cows acted just like those because hands on twice a day. Although each cow had its own place and we feed grain each time we milked. We hardly ever had to go get them.

Nice video. Grew up around dairy but run 50 head of beef in SW Maine now. What part of the state are you located?
