    • @duckthelaw
      @duckthelaw Рік тому +5

      @@N.DRC. She’s holding on because it’s not proper or respectful to let the dog wandering the court while in session without the explicit permission of the judge. When the judge allowed the dog to wander free, it ignored the plaintiffs, so that is a moot point.
      And they didn’t steal the dog, the original owner was negligent with the dog by allowing the puppy outside on its own to wander off. They did not chip the dog and there was no direct evidence that this was the same dog they lost. On top of that, the current owners got the dog from a 3rd party - so they didn’t “steal” anything. They were an innocent party in the transaction.
      Also, the dog does have some rights over being mere property. It would’ve been extremely stressful for the dog to lose the family it has known and loved for the last 2 years. The current family was not negligent. They kept and took care of the dog. It looked happy and healthy. It would’ve been unfair to the dog and current family to take the dog away.
      Moral of the story: if you love your dog, get it chipped, and don’t be lazy / negligent about the responsibilities of dog ownership. Dogs are more than property, they are sentient companions with feelings and desires of their own.
      This was a fair judgement.

    • @N.DRC.
      @N.DRC. Рік тому +2

      @duckthelaw9818 you missed the defendant's witness testimony when she said she was annoyed that the neighbors let the dog out to do business on her property. Yes, they were negligent, but the neighbor grabbed their dog & took it to her sisters b/c she couldn't keep the stolen neighbors dog. Of course, had the person not given them the note, they would have been none the wiser. They do not deserve to be rewarded for being good thieves. You're missing the point. So, they steal the dog & and were nice to the dog...hummm, weird 🤔 they didn't get the dog chipped b/c they thought he was already chipped & would reveal...that the dog was stolen. Now guess what...it's clear the dog's not chipped so now, the thieves get to chip their stolen dog.

      While I agree that it is very likely the same dog, I don't necessarily think that it was stolen. I think it probably wandered over to the neighbors and they fed him because they did not know who it owned him. They probably fell in love with him after a while and decided to keep him, then when the plaintiffs found out later then they made up the story about getting it from a co-worker.
      With that said, I don't think the plaintiffs cared unless they could get money out of the situation. The dog went around the set and back to the defendants. The plaintiffs never even looked at the dog as it wandered around, I would have been watching my dog like a hawk. I think they made up a story about how much they paid for the dog as well.

      @Scott Gilliam: I believe it. Look how many reunions there are on YT of soldiers coming home after being overseas for a year or so. The dogs left at home remember! The dogs are practically crying they are so overjoyed. Or the military dogs that are separated from the soldiers they worked with when the soldier is discharged back home. Some of those pairs are separated for years while the soldier files tons of paper work to adopt their soldier dogs. Those dogs are ecstatic when reunited with their handlers. A puppy that young that she didn’t have for that long isn’t going to remember them. The plaintiff was just stupid to let a puppy outside alone for just 5 minutes. It could have been hit by a car. My Boston Terrier is 14 months and I don’t leave her outside alone - and I’m in the country 1/2 mile from a main road. There’s no traffic but there are raccoons, foxes, and occasionally coyotes.

      This is all assuming that the lady Christine is lying through her teeth about how she acquired the dog- through a co- worker.
      Not that the plaintiff wrote a false letter claiming to seen a "stold"- stolen- dog;
      Had lied about chipping the dog, probably hoping to intimidate the woman into handing the dog over to be taken to a vet, never to be seen again, and had allowed the dog to escape in the first place.
      Standing there with her lip curled like she was all that, disrespecting the court, she didn't deserve any dog let alone a free dog they'd slied off someone else. Dogs do have rights.

If i reconnected with a dog I thought was mine, I’d be way more animated. 2) The dog either clearly didn’t remember them or it wasn’t their dog. Based on how it totally ignored them, I leaning toward the latter. 3) The plaintiffs clearly aren’t dog people - what dog lover loses a puppy and doesn’t get another dog after 2 years??? The dog is better off without them.

    So many people get a dog and within months they can't be bothered taking the dog for a walk, so they just open the door to let it do its business outside. To me that's cruel to the dog, why get a dog if all you're going to do is lazily open a door for it now and then?

    Out of all of the dogs I've had, I never let them out unsupervised. I walked them on a leash, brought them to the fenced in area in the back on a leash, and kept an eye on them when the leash came off in the fenced in area. You let a dog out on it's own, unless it's professionally trained, don't expect to ever see the dog again.

    If they had actually taken the time to get their puppy chipped, all they would have had to do was take the dog to the vet and scan the chip and they could have proven the dog belonged to them. Instead, they leave a very young puppy outside ALONE, and he disappeared, and now, suddenly, they want to say this lady "STOLE" their dog. It seems to me like the dog is very comfortable with the defendants.

    The dog is clearly well taken care of! Two years is far too long to try to get back an animal that you lost as a baby! If the animal was full grown that would then be a different story as they would have memory of you.
    I think they just wanted their dog and tried to say it was the puppy they negligently lost!
