Mild detergent on a sponge. Auto foam upholstery cleaner is ok. Wipe it down. Dry with a towel as you go. Avoid saturating any area. For cuffs and collars, spray, wipe and repeat. Rinse with water. Tumble to fluff up the down. There should never be a need to wash such a jacket unless you sweated in it or peed on it. Spray with Scotch Guard to repel water and resist stains.
I had an odor problem with my high efficiency washer and switched to powdered detergent. It leaves a lot less residue in the washer and the non-down clothes too. Charlies detergent, Nellies detergent, and JR Watkins are pretty good.
