Those of us who knew Russell from his college days remember a guy who used to go skiing with us, who later went rock climbing, rode horses and inspired those lucky enough to be his friend with his courage and determination to not miss out on any of life's experiences. Al Lyle

Many years ago, I had the opportunity to get on the mat with Russell. That opportunity taught me about my own preconceptions, not just about people but about my own senses. Practicing jiu-jitsu with my eyes closed became one of my training routines and learning to feel what I could never see even with my eyes open, became a gift for which I can't be thankful enough both to that moment and to Russell.

Russell Redenbaugh embodies the spirit of Invictus more than anyone I know. He is a wise and ready advisor who challenges us to rise to a standard of excellence beyond what we think possible.

So inspirational to anyone who has suffered post traumatic stress and loss. His heartfelt words show that it is one's attitude...and "vision" to be able to declare what you want and the conviction to do it no matter what the circumstances life brings our way. I had been searching for post traumatic stress growth and landed on the perfect video! Thank you Russell!

The power of declarations proceed leaps. That's an affirmation I can use daily. Powerful!

Along with everything else marvelous about Russell, his remarkable story, life, experience. His loss and recovery and ambition....Along with all of this is the sound of his voice. He has a wonderful affirming sound to his voice that delivers all he says with a strong determination that is riding close to my heart and mind as I listen.

Russell impacted me with his "Declaration" remarks and how true it is for all of us to "Declare" what we will do and where we will go so that we have a clarity in our aspirations. Amazing job friend.

I didn’t know why, when I clicked on this, but I knew it would make me misty eyed for some reason, and lo and behold he used my favorite poem to close. What a powerful message.

Truly inspiring. I agree that declarations are powerful. I actually traced my borderline personality disorder back to a childhood declaration I made after my father began physically abusing me and my mother denied to my face, telling me I must have been imagining things. I declared at the top of my lungs at my emotional peak "I will never trust anyone ever again!!!!" And I never really did - until I remembered the declaration forty years later and began to 'unravel' it. I know I made a declaration to get revenge on my parents for their abuse, and I certainly did. I imagine I made many other declarations, most of which were positive in nature. I think I made a declaration to be like Thomas Edison, tinkering away in my garage, which made me a freelance IT developer today. I also made a declaration in my early teens not to lie when I discovered the burden it added to my psyche, and low and behold I cannot withhold the truth today whatsoever. I only of wish I had a childhood role model who espoused inner-peace that may have spurred me to make such a declaration. That took forty years too, but declarations are certainly powerful - I've been on the quest to re-engineer myself for almost four years non-stop and I think its beginning to take hold.

I first met Russell in mid 1980's when I was studying with Dr. Fernando Flores. Two years ago I had a pleasure and the honor of being in the same group again with Dr. Fernando Flores and Russell again that is on going. This was a great talk and highly inspirational. :) Thanks for doing this talk Russell.

"For me, the waiting, the not-knowing, the anxiety & uncertainty was so painful, that the bad news came as a great relief." Wow! With the things I've heard people say about the power of optimism, it makes me wonder ... "why wait?"
Can we grow a frame of mind that won't be stopped - won't be slowed-down?

Very inspirational. We are in an age where so much is given, and expected. Here is a man that had much taken and expected nothing other than the best that was within him. Opportunities favor those who prepare, declare, learn, act, and measure for value. Be inspired.

There are many items out for the visually impaired. He uses a mac book as well and iPhone. These items have an option for the visually impaired. They talk to him and allow him the same freedom as the sighted. The watch talks to him. He can push a button and it will tell him the time.

you can buy a watch without the crystal face. so one can determine the time by simply placing fingers on the hands. unless you look very closely, it appears to have a watch face on it. i hope that helps.
