    We have several bird feeders including a double suet cake one and one morning I saw one of these beautiful birds sitting on the suet cake holder and was stopped in my tracks--grabbed my phone and took a picture! HE is magnificent! LOVE seeing him and are glad to learn about a new bird to us.

    I see them quite often. North America's largest woodpecker unless the Ivory Billed woodpecker is ever seen again. The Pileated has a very loud and interesting call. One of my favorite birds.

    He's a beautiful bird! I have been fortunate enough to have been able to collect quite a bit of footage of Pileated Woodpeckers at a couple locations in my yard. It's fascinating to see how they behave up close! Definitely one of my favorites!!

    Im from Georgia. I can always hear them from a distance but I rarely see them. I do have videos and pictures of them but that's only because I send Alot of time outside looking for them. Some days I hear the red bellied woodpecker more then the pileated woodpecker. Its a joy seeing em sometimes and hearing them all the time Peck on trees all day. Sounding like drums lol ugh amazing. Ppl keep telling me to upload my videos and pictures or at least try to sell them but I don't think they're good enough lol my friends do but idk I just enjoy capturing them on camera just for fun and the excitement

    So cool to see one up close as they are very hard to spot in the wild, even though you can hear them; they don't like to be seen.

    They are all over my pine trees seasonally. This is the reason I am planning more pines around my house. But not too close though!

    I accidentally hit one with my truck years ago. After we removed it from the grill it seemed a little banged up. I kept it for a couple of weeks in a cage until it started feeling better. When I started hearing it RIP away on a dead log I gave it, I knew it was time to let it go.

    The first time I ever saw one of these birds it was hanging on the trunk of a tree with it's back towards me. At first I thought it was a midget wearing a tuxedo with red hair. I had no idea these birds grew so big.

      how big was he? I found one had to be 3 feet or more he was huge

    • @chickey333
      @chickey333 4 роки тому

      @@miker5700 Yes... the one I saw was a good 2 to 2 and half feet I would say. At first I thought that was an odd place for a midget to be hanging out.... in the woods. The whole encounter was a little freaky at first.
