There's a ton of people complaining on why "they stuck with the same formula" and they keep not getting that those slower songs with MV releases were early on in their careers, YG was feeling out what worked and what didn't in terms of a hit. DDDD was that hit, and that's what they've stuck with since. Of course Lovesick Girls was a bit of a departure but they're going to stick with the more upbeat, big drops, Jennie start-->Rose/Jisoo bridge--->Lisa rap formula because frankly, each of those have been getting 1+ billion views AND killing charts. Go ahead and go look at all their "slower" more "pop" songs and the views and plays on those, even LSG had waaaaay lower views by quite a bit than HYLT. Look at Boombayah and Whistle, lots of blinks love Whistle and wish BP did more songs like it, both released on the same day as their debut. Boombayah has almost 700 million more views than Whistle. Now of course views on YT isn't any metric for quality, but it's definitely a metric big companies use to gauge patterns.
