It’s strange how the value of heads changed over the years Going from taking of heads to the giving of head in the modern era Both becoming an art that can be mastered
In the Blvd Beaumarchais in Paris I lived in a building that had a huge inner fountain/well where they cleaned the heads of the decapitated aristocrats during the french revolution...there aren't any old stains, but it is rather eerie to know how many heads went through that fountain before being shipped to their families...
Tower Green was where many executions were done, in private, if you had the influence or good contact with the Monarch. Tower Hill was where public executions took place.
Margaret Roper, St. Thomas More’s daughter did not ask for her father’s head so it could be reunited with his body. His body, along with many executed in the Tower of London and on Tower Hill where More was beheaded were interred in the Church of St. Peter ad Vincula within the Tower grounds by decree. The families were not given any privilege to reclaim the bodies. Margaret was able to retrieve her father’s head, but had it placed in the Church of St. Dunstan in Canterbury where it remains to this day and is venerated by Catholics on pilgrimage.

When you say the Drawbridge was to isolate from North to South I think it was more likely to be raised to allow the higher masted ships to pass through it.
Professional historians doubt that Henry VIII had nearly 3 percent of the population executed. There are records of about 500 executions. Like so many inaccurate stories, they become accepted as accurate by repetition.
No it doesn't. It was demolished in the 19th century but an arch survived until 1922. What was sold to America was the replacement bridge, with a new bridge being built in 1970.

Disgusting and barbaric idea of a backwards era.

Well atleast you didnt have to worry about them mocking your tastes of food or fashion. If they could talk they would say..."no flies on you"
Was sitting at 2am almost asleep and stumble across this hidden gem..keep up the great work💯👌💪
I wonder what the job interview was like.
That works out at just over 162 people, per month, executed by Henry VIII. That has rendered me quite speechless.
Ooh fab! Never heard of this job! Thank you 😊
No. The most brutal job in history is having to deal with my sister.
The disease and smell must have been horrific. 🤢🤮
Wow, didn't know about this. Thanks for the heads up.👍😁

I'm so glad I didn't live in the Tudor period.
Maybe you did. There is no way of knowing.
I'd like to line Pensilvania Ave. DC with a lot of heads
70 thousand people that's unbelievable

I bet the heads were rather stinky before they were removed
I guess that if you let them on display long enough the stench would have disappeared
William Wallace was not a Rebel. English rule was imposed on the Scots against their will. Wallace was a Scottish patriot.
William Wallace was a terrorist.
