The best first act finale in musical history. The. Best.
hecate235 I agree but Defying Gravity is equally as good
I was JUST about to say that.
UNBEATABLE !!!
Love Defying Gravity, but it ain’t got nothing on this
Yessir!
The 10th anniversary dream cast is the absolute best of all
Before years of 25th anniversary celebration party years documenty biography VIP tickets tour guide Legends of view of the world and the best part castle in the c
I'd have liked to see Philip Quast in there somewhere... Never the less, this gave me gooseys.
Couldn't agree more. What an epic fail to exclude him.
He will always be Javert to me, no man could match his voice. Those other people wish that they were Philip Quast
Samantha Barks and Lea Salonga are by far the best Eponine.
Agreed.
okay, I agree, but Carrie Hope Fletcher is also a great Eponine.
Caro Paez I don't like Carrie's Eponine that much tbh.
+Alejandra Escutia Angulo It's ok, we can't agree on everything lol. I love Carrie as a vocalist and I find amazing that she played little Eponine when she was a child and now she gets to play actual Eponine. But yeah, it's just different opinions :)
I know it was like, a year ago, but also Eva Noblezada now :)
I love that you took THAT „One Day more“ of Ramin at 2:40
Its my fav. Its just so smooth
THANK YOU TO THE EDITOR AND WHOEVER GAVE THE IDEA TO MASHUP DIFFERENT PERFORMANCES. THANK YOU.
It's a phenomenal edit, showing so many different casts x
Damn the way you cut Samantha was horrible but the rest was perfection
they cut most of the best, yeah, but Samantha barks was there. So what if it was for like two seconds?
Lol baby Ramin and adult Ramin.
Right! I was dying
There are so many "end of Act 1" songs I love. Send 'em out into the intermission right! This one just may be my very favorite. Just perfect!
This is my favourite act 1 finale but love Defying Gravity too
Three of my favorites are Defying Gravity, this, and All I Ask of You Reprise/Chandelier Crash from Phantom. ;)
Love all of those, but I'd be lying if I said using the second half of "Alive" as an act finale didn't give me chills as well-- that primal "...being... Edward... HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYDE!!!!!!!!" just before everything goes black is--perfection in my opinion.
Too much talent in one video
no matter how many times, this song could make me cry..
This is so amazing! Big I wish they had John Owen Jones as Valjean in here. He's my absolute favorite. Also Earl Carpenter. Lol you pretty much can't have one without the other. These two are amazing together.
I'll be lying if I say I didn't chuckle when it suddenly cut on eponine's "there."
(Not because I don't like it, because it surprised me)
Nice job editing the different performances together! It really showcased this wonderful show tune!
I just want to express my fullest opinion and analysis as to why this is not just one of but THE greatest song ever composed. Not only does it perfectly capture the struggles of each character and how their struggles correlate (giving justice to the 3rd book of Les Misérables, a rare occasion wherein majority of the character's fate intertwines), the song itself weaves together SEVEN MELODIES, AND THAT IS GENIUS!!!
*Who Am I?* to "One day more, another day another destiny" - Both depicts struggle in identity, that is why Valjean reprises his melody wherein he hides his true self
*I Dreamed A Dream* to "I did not live until today" - Cosette, like her mother Fantine, sings about love dream along with Marius. Eponine intervening references *A Heart Full Of Love*
*I Dreamed A Dream (bridge?)* to "One more day all on my own" - a melody that depicts struggle as it also used in "One more day before the storm" and surprisingly the melody itself (movement of notes and the beat) is actually a mirror image of *Do You Hear The People Sing* (melody goes up instead of down, vice versa) the difference is that the latter is an uplifting/optimistic view of struggle wile the former is of a pessimistic take on struggles
*Red and Black* to "Do I follow where she goes" (and later "My place is here, I fight with you" - Marius's struggle between 'red and black' (to choose either joining the revolution or following his loved one)
*The Confrontation* to "One day more to revolution" - Javert's theme about confronting people
*Master of the House* to "Watch 'em run amock" - theme of Thenadiers' malicious activities (looting and stealing)
AND FINALLY!!! THE MAGIC HAPPENS!!! The song circles back to the melody of *Who Am I?* in "Tomorrow we'll discover what our God in heaven has in store" indicating that their own struggles help define who they truly are!!!
THAT WAS EPIC OMG
Wow, it's a while since I last watched and commented on this video!
It is an absolutely incredible edit of so many casts. Goosebumps right from the start, especially with 3 of my favourite Valjeans sharing the opening lines. It's always a wonderful moment hearing Lea's vocally perfect Eponine and Samantha was superb too. THANK YOU for using Ramin's "One Day Moooore" at 2:40 ish too.
It's interesting to note how the march has changed over the years, too, going from a strong box step taking up a bar of the 4/4 time, to then change to a steadier step forward, then back, with each step taking up 2 beats rather than the 4 in 4.
Plus, there are a fair few actors who have played 2 or even 3 roles in the show, plus many Baricade Boys in the film, having played the students in the West End/Broadway. I'm sure there are many more, but my first thoughts are
Colm: Valjean, The Bishop
Earl: Javert, The Bishop
Ramin: Marius (u/s), Enjolras/Valjean,
Bradley: Enjolras/Javert
Hadley: (not featured but deserves a mention) Marius, Javert, Grantaire
Lea Eponine/Fantine
Carrie: Young Eponine, Eponine, and Fantine
Included all the best. Colm, Ramin, Lea, Alfie and Norm forever

Cannot believe this 30 years old. I mean I first saw the show in 1986 for a present after graduating University. Everywhere I go for work or Holiday if the show is on I see it, that explains why I have seen it 200 plus times, AMAZING.

Awesome job editing all of this.Bravo!
I SPY CARRIE HOPE FLETCHER @ 2:54
Best musical ever after Phantom, I pray the original Les Mis comes back to brodway one day and never closes.

+Hannah “Instinct Trash” O'Reilly wel it's closing in like a week so
Isabelle Lightwood I don't think it is...is it really?
Yep
Isabelle Lightwood where did you hear this?
Epic!
I love every actor who ever played Enjolras. I would totally play Enjolras.
Goosebumps...
ramin being half of the characters makes this ten times better lmao
Chilling...!
Michael Maguire will be my favorite and always will be
I was very lucky to se Garth gates in this in the touring cast of this in 2010.he was brilliant.
Thank you sooooo much for sparing us Russell Crowe!
+BNSF1995 I'm a little bit sad, though, that Philip Quast didn't really make it into this...
lol!
Pluses and minuses
Michael Ball though :(
Here we go again you say Russell Crowe wasn't the best Javert, look the cast included Hugh Jackman as Veljean and Crowe as javert.and COLM Wilkinson as the priest he was the original Veljean so he passed the torch to Hugh Jackman with his blessings to play Veljean.
For me the best Marius is absolutely Eddie and Ramin.. I love them so much❤ and of course Ramin is as good as Marius as he is as Jean Valjean.. Oh my good I'm in love with this
Is anyone else watching this on Election Day in the US and feeling exactly how these characters feel?
Lauren Conrad yes
One more day before the storm.....
@@MusicalWeirdo-df2qo do I follow where she goes?
+ Enique Sanchez, you are very lucky to have seen the original I hope to see it in london one day
Carrie Hope Fletcher was my favourite Eponine! BTW she's Mcfly's Tom Fletcher's sister (uk band)
When it said it's gonna be performed by casts from around the world, I was expecting it to be a multilanguage😅. But this is an amazing montage nonetheless!
Carrieeeeee

Phillip Quast was the best Javert ever and always will be
whats the last clip with the standing ovation? I would love to hear that version of one day more
+KatoTornado That is the encore from the 10th anniversary concert. They brought in a number of tenors from around the world who had sung the role of Jean Valjean in their native countries, and they did a multi-lingual arrangement of Do You Hear the People Sing. This was then followed by all of them, in unison, singing Valjean's part in the end of One Day More, with the cast of the 10th anniversary singing their roles.
great wditing
strong power
🙏🏼!
anyone knows when a dvd of the les miserables 30th anniversary gala will be release?
