Listen people. Listen good. I’ve been in this business a long time. Do not accept the vehicle back and sign any service order until you are 100% satisfied. When you have these problems you tell the Service Manager how to handle your problem to make you satisfied. Walk inside the dealer to the GM or Dealer Principal and tell them what happened and you will be contacting the Corvette Concierge team and Chevrolet Regional. They absolutely 100% don’t want that to happen. Do not roll over and be mister nice guy. That’s what they hope. Read this again. And do it.
As in any issue management, be polite AND be prepared to utilize a VERY heavy hand if necessary. Most of the time in life, you get 100% sastifaction by being nice. However if that does not work, you are prepared to executive nuclear armaments. Walk softly and carry a big stick.
They were afraid to touch it after seeing how fussy you were about smudge from protective film during delivery..hence no wash… I would never hand it over to them for that..
It was more a matter of the scratches…I can’t imagine most people would be cool with just accepting a brand new scratched car, regardless of the price point.
I had a dealership mechanic/tech unplug my dashcam while I was having some work done. When I spoke to the service manager about it, he said the tech did that because he didn't want to be recorded. I was dumbfounded!
I was watching through some of the clips on my PDR and when one of the techs pulled it into the shop, you could hear him say, “don’t let it fool you, it’s still a piece of shit.” Kind of just goes to show you the level of care they have for the vehicles/clients.
I mean no offense but if you can’t handle these minor issues yourself you’re going to have to deal with dealership nonsense. I would never bring my C8 back to the dealership for these minor issues… and this is exactly why.
Not a matter of can’t, but IMO, when you’re paying this kind of coin for a car, you shouldn’t sign for the delivery until it looks like a new car. I’ve always done almost all the work on my cars for this reason.
They don't care, they already have your money. I bet a 20 year old drove it to the shop and ran the living crap out of it. I always tell the dealership and wright it on the work order "not to leave the property." Nice looking car but you need to do 100% of all the work yourself and never take it back unless it's broke.
I told the dealer (Evergreen Chevrolet Issaquah) I think my Vett 2013 427 had a vacuum leak. They had it for a week, three techs worked on it DROVE IT AROUND and couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I paid the bill and drove home. It ran like shit driving it home I was disgusted! I got it home thinking I need a to buy shop manual to follow every vacuum hose on it. I opened the hood and just started looking and right there on top was a hose link undone. Don’t they have a smoke machine to find this? And how can you hand a car back running like shit? WTF! Dirty Dogs! I sent an email photo and I asked for a refund!
Welcome to the dealership world. Make sure you watch when they do the first dealership transmission service. Service kid tried to steal my Transmission filter and overfilled my engine oil by two quarts. Buyers beware! Took the car home changed the oil and oil filter again. On my C7 another dealer put one tire on wrong.
Your dealership is a joke!I would never bring the car back there.Only once i got a complementary truck wash on my New GMC Canyon unknowingly. Some 17 year old washed it with dirty water and sponge, scratched up the rear quarter.Never again.
These things are way to minor to trust the dealership with fixing. I don't even bother getting the "free oil changes" they throw in when buying a car. You run the risk of getting the car back in worse condition.
Once you drive it off the lot you are on your own .If it's a minor problem do it your self .not worth the hassle Also go over in detail what you need done when you drop it off also check up on it during the week to make sure they are doing what you say.the days of picking up your car with every thing done right are long gone nobody cares
Exactly why I did not purchase a Vet. The dealer network! You buy a 100k plus technical performance car and have it serviced at a Chevy dealership. Not me
Why does this kind of stuff happen? I have experienced same kind of attitude from dealership where I bought my corvette. Once you purchase car they could care less about your vehicle. It’s a shame because I worked hard for my car.
The engine on my 2024 ZO6 blew at 174 miles, along with several other issues. GM bought it back after 6 months of fighting with them. 😔 Not sure if I'll get another one just yet, might wait a year or so. Good luck with your issues.
@@davidhorne2326 Not sure I was in traffic going about 35 mph and the piston shot through the bottom of the block. Then the electrical issues with the front lift system kept flashing "service lift system soon". they could not fix that issue. Then the new engine started to knock, so at that point I was over it.
I experienced what should have been a short scan, read/ clear the error due to an engine light fault & set me back on my feet from @296 miles on my odo & on my way, but no. I missed two days of work & they returned my car back to me a day & a half later with my odometer @336 miles added 40 miles to my odometer. I confronted their service manager & admittedly "he'd said we took it out twice" to test, adding 40 miles to my odometer, & no real explanation. I know they joy rode her that pissed me off. And I've had two more engine light triggered & went to a new dealer but this dealer added no miles in my time of waiting about one hour one time & to one hour the third time & no added miles. I'm sorry you experienced them taking your vehicle to another town we clientele don't deserve this misconduct. I hope you have better luck going forward.
I’m fortunate that I have an honest local mechanic that I’ve used for years. He has not charged me a dime at least 6 six times for work that dealerships(wife/son took car there)said needed to be done. They don’t call them Steal Er Ships for nothing! Google videos of young dealership employees that don’t know how to drive a manual transmission and another tech attempts to teach them on a customer’s new GR Corolla?! The comments section in that video had dealership employees saying this was about the norm. Owners beware! When I traded in my Civic Type R for a new one I received multiple phone alerts that evening from my Lo Jack app of my former car exceeding speeds of 85mph on city streets surrounding that dealership. Try to find a shop(honest/reliable) locally BUT still install a 3 channel(interior, front and rear) dashcam(cheap insurance) to keep everyone honest. The Lo Jack app is also a nice option as it will send updates/documentation of speeds/location/time/date stamps especially when you set the maximum speed alerts (I usually set mine to 15-25mph) prior to dropping off vehicle for service. Just my two cents…
Dealerships are a joke! As you said the tech that worked on your vehicle didn't know because Service Dept. didn't get the order straight to begin with. I write a letter to the Service Dept. outlining what work is to be done and then make sure Service Dept. and the Tech knows exactly what I want done. I learned that the Dealerships tire machine is not made the way Tire Rack and Discount Tire machines are made. I was really upset to find that the Dealership's machine scratched my C6 Brushed Aluminum wheels during a wheel balance. I was able to buff out most of the markings left by their machine but found out Discount Tire and Tire Rack have machines that are designed with hard plastic and rubber on their machines which do not damage high end vehicles wheels, just saying! A written letter signed by you is a legal document in any court of law. So, to cover your investment I suggest to write the Service Dept. a letter for what work you want done!!!
You should be happy that the dealership did not wash your Z06, either in a automatic car wash or by hand. Your paint could have been ruined by a bad car wash. Better to wash it yourself and tell the dealer not to wash it.
Sorry, but I would report your experience to GM, this dealership needs more training on servicing cars of this value, especially Z06 or E-Ray values. As mentioned, if they do not a have a Corvette Tech they need to get one or go elsewhere.
Same BAD luck here with their corvette tech, Dealer service is BAD, Crooked rear tips finger loose bolts and parts to be replaced that were never done,I spotted it since I had to straighten out rear tips,What a mess,I was fully refunded within 3 days.
You're correct that the minor paint smudges are from the cover beating on the paint from the wind. Happened to mine too, but easily corrected yourself especially if you're compitent enough to polish and ceramic coat yourself.
I figured I could get them out, but didn’t want to sign off for the car until it looked “good as new”, since, you know, it was new. My last car had a stubborn rub mark in the same spot. Sounds like they need to rethink these covers they ship them with.
A car like that should remain in the shop until you pick it up …. Provided you return within a reasonable time period. And you should have been made aware the paint correction was off site. Unacceptable!
We have two Chevy dealers in Tucson, AZ. GM tells C8 owners to change the Trans oil/filter at 7,500 mi. to keep the warranty. My car, an 2022, was almost two years old and past the "free" oil change period. One dealer wanted $1,000 to change the trans oil. Another wanted $700. Why the big difference? I made the appointment with the $700/dealer. When I arrived, he told me $850! I said you quoted $700, that's all I'm paying. They did the job for $700. The actual cost should be about $450, but dealers are just screwing Corvette owners because the know you have to have it done. I only go to them when I have to, they are all crooks.
Yeah consistently bad service experiences at the dealership can really dampen your enjoyment of any vehicle including RVs. My dealership includes a complimentary wash with each visit which I always decline why take the risk of some kid running it through a mechanical car wash? I expect many dealerships use third parties for certain jobs like windshield replacements, dented rim repairs, and protective film installation for example so I wouldn't be to hard on them for that. You can expect a higher level of service at Porsche and Mercedes dealerships but then you are paying a lot more for parts and labor so you get what you pay for
I feel ya! They definitely dropped the ball! I had to take my new C8 back to the dealer to have PPF installed on my front end. While I’m there they tell me that the installers are in their new shop in another area close to my home. They said their manager would drive the car over there and then bring it back (more of a liability driving my car around) Mind you it’s a black car and the roads are being paved so I’m thinking how much rock damage is going to be there after it’s done. I also asked why didn’t you just have me take the car over myself (which was half the distance away, and no road work)? So I took the car myself but wasted half the morning figuring this out and driving it back to the shop. Sometimes I don’t get how these people can get hired to represent GM?
Yeah, that’s basically the same scenario. Just tell me where you’re taking it and let me schedule it. They are also going to replace the spoiler because they stripped one of the screws installing the wickers. At least that one I’m going to be able to schedule directly with the body shop. Ugh.
I don't get Corvette owner's not driving their cars! If it was mine I would drive 500 miles on the first day or so? Why wait for break in? So many used C8 under 8k that are 2020 and 2021. Why? Even these C8's are not rare cars even the ZO6 as well. I can afford a super expensive cars but my real rare Mini Clubman JCW with some extra spice with 350 HP get more attention that these while the C8 might be faster it can't hang with this Mini in the twists. I drive 500 a week or more in the amazing roads of eastern Ohio and North Kentucky. So many twists and even mile long straights in the middle of nowhere. Drive your cars Corvette owners these cars rock!
I hear you, man. I drive mine all the time; to work, to the store, to Costco, to the gym, etc. However, I live in a small town so it just doesn’t add up to much driving overall and I have a company car that I drive for anything work related. I’ll get her broken in before too long!
The guy in the video said that he had been traveling a lot and didn't have time to drive his Vette. I don't own one, but I commuted in a sports car in the past and I would never do that again. I found it to be very impractical and uncomfortable. Driving that car got very old in a short 2 years or so. I currently own a different sports car and I love driving it on the weekends when the weather and other commitments allow it. It is a treat when I get to drive it. I'd say that when I get to drive it, I put about 100-150 miles max. That would be around 2K miles a year max, which consistent with the mileages that you saw on those 2020-21 Vettes.
My last experience. Motor blew and mechanics at dealership handed me a box of parts and said i think and do not know were they go. Brought it to a engine shop no problems ever
You and I are in the same boat. I just purchased a Z06. I only put 350 miles on it. I took it in to have the entire car PPF. The tech thought it would be a good idea in his own words, “I will take the long way around and ripped this bitch” I will be talking to the manager of the dealership on Monday. Anytime you take your car to the dealership you should have your valet service automatically come on when the car starts. This is how I found out. I reviewed the video.
Haha. Yeah, maybe don’t tell me. Hopefully it’s just the crappy lighting! I do plan to hit it with a once over with the polisher before I ceramic coat it so maybe I’ll see it then.
