how far we have come? yeah we have so amazing events now, like fencing in teams. oh, we dont actually do that in teams? its just a bunch of individual competitions with an overall score? simply to hand out more medals? incredible. weightgroups for people who are clearly not built for a specific sport? also just to have more competitions, more profit and more medals? yeah, its amazing. but why dont we create heightgroups for short people in basketball and volleyball? they deserve it just as much as 50 kg dudes deserve weight groups in boxing. triple jump? sure, makes so much sense, its completely different from a single jump. I think we should have quadruple jump, Im pretty sure there are so many athletes standing out in that kind of jump but they are forced to perform triple instead, where they are less talented. its just wonderful how far we have come
I just read that India had the first Asian-born athlete to win an Olympic medal. He was born in Calcutta. He won two silver medals for India in the 1900 Paris Olympics in the 200 metres and 200 metres hurdles. Any guesses who he is? Norman Pritchard
For the very first time they included Golf in Olympics. Those golf players were participated without knowing that they were playing in Olympics. After that golf was removed from Olympics for 116 years. In 2016 only they included it again.
The same way you would react to the 2148 Olympic ceremony. *Reply to:* _"I wonder how the french in this video would react to the paris 2024 ceremony."_
John Kieran in _The Story of the Olympic Games_ said 1900 went as smoothly as a mining town riot. Now, unofficial events are always part of the Olympics. Munich had what amounted to an art fair running parallel to the athletic competitions. That wasn't so crazy. But tons of crazy stuff really did happen that year -- like the French wanted to open on Sunday so they wouldn't run into Bastille Day Celebrations, but the U.S. team were all Christians who didn't want to compete on Sunday. The marathon course was so badly laid out they had guys running around in circles and two Americans who thought they both won. The real winner was from Luxembourg!
My great great grandfather was a student in Paris studying law ,in his diary he has written all the memories of Paris and Olympics .
Can you plz publish that part and share link here ?
source: trust me bro

Apparently it was the last time Cricket was an Olympic sport.

Fire fighting and life saving... yep, they had useful events back then.
They also held Angling, with over 600 fishermen.
