- Long day up and over Cross Fell. Great walk up in the mist but challenging. Cleared when we got to the top and offered great views. Long walk down the gravel road into Garrigill disappointed pub was closed. Nice walk along the river into Alston.
Enjoying your narrative. I spent a great night in Greg’s hut after a really wet crossing from Dufton(planned). Made a nice split of a long day from Dufton to Alston.
Nice to see cross fell not shrouded in mist 😂
Did I see Clouds rolling past where the weather station is situated?

Weather station is air traffic control radar for the North of England I believe. Love Cross Fell views are great on a clear day.

Hi guys. Just binging your Pennine Way adventure - and enjoying it a lot 🙂 - and we were wondering about Alston (we never made it that far on our own attempt, injury forced us off at Garrigill): did you chose not to camp at Alston or does the camping there not exist anymore? There used to be a site by the petrol station but haven't heard anyone mention it recently. Any info appreciated.
Hi and thanks for watching. We didn’t look for a campsite as we wanted to stay in the Youth hostel. I don’t remember seeing a campsite near the station. Sorry couldn’t be anymore help.

@@liverpoolhikers if you phone the YH atAlston they’ll tell you if there’s any local camping.
