When he gets into character as the shopkeeper the whole sketch changed from humourous to as outright unsettling as the original scene.
Lol I know I actually got lost in the moment just like the movie
I completely agree. I had to find the original scene for comparison. I'd say spot on!

Which makes the ending so funny with that look

Once he actually started doing the lines for real, I got as lost in the scene as I did the original. That was a good fucking recreation

Same here. I didn't even want it to get funny anymore. Way good.
That was the funny part for me , how he nailed it so well ! Was not expecting it at all 😂
Yeah for real. My anxiety started to go up before i remembered this started out as a funny skit.
@dude DOG that's your opinion 👎
Even in this skit, the palpable stress and strained emotions from the original scene cannot help to flood right in here. Amazing!
Yea, I thought he was still going to shoot Kevin anyway. lol

This was like when I wear noise canceling headphones at the store, and I get really immersed in the media, and then I take them off at the cash register reality hits.
That scene was so intense in "No Country" you have to have it satirized like this just to defray its effects lol. It's like watching the behind-the-scenes of the Exorcist or Alien as a kid - you needed it just to know it's not real.

Shout out to Gene Jones who played the Gas Station owner in the original film. One of the most authentic small roles I can remember.
Yo! Those small roles in this movie, they're all great IMO. Gene Jones, Kathy Lamkin, Richard Jackson, the whole movie felt so real all the time, and I think it's owing in a great deal to the cast, stars and supporting roles. Every bit of it it's incredibly well done and everyhting feels so alive and real.
Javier didn't even know if he could do the character considering he hated everything about it. Amazingly he ended up portraying the most realistic psychopath in film history. Such a good movie. Also Kevin James is hilarious.

When Kevin James does a word-for-word reenactment of the "Coin Toss" scene, and it's still riveting to watch, it really shows how amazing Javier is, and how smart the Coen Brothers are at writing.
Yeah. Cormac McCarthy wrote those words. Give the man his due!
I read somewhere that he didn't want to do this movie but I'm so glad he did. Such a terrifying character
How? Kevin James is a trained actor, Javier Bardem is an academy award winner actor, the Cohen’s are 4 time academy award winning writers and directors. Substituting a trained actor in an extremely well written scene isn’t all that.
Now if you put a random Joe Schmo in the role like me, and I kill it, then that would would deserve all the praise for the writer, director and Javier.
Jared Fehrens Nah, I disagree. Kevin could’ve re-enacted many scenes from other movies and it would be redundant to watch. This scene with Bardem is so dope it’s still very watchable with a silly comedian doing the scene holding a boom mic. I get what you mean but this film deserves all that praise and then some. The way the Coens and their screenwriting partners translated the book onto screen is spectacular and by far the least changed than any book to movie film I’ve ever seen. The dialogue is a lot more long winded in the book but aside from that there’s only one scene that was changed completely.
javier needs to see it xd
This parody just made me appreciate how great of an actor Gene Jones is.
this has to be one of kevin's best roles, his sound guy series is so funny
This nearly became the last episode of the Sound Guy. Phew. Close Shave.

I actually get it now. By doing the coin toss with him, he was literally and figuratively betting to earn back his own Life, since he had been given everything by chance (his job, his wife, his home, all in one).

I've been comparing the two scenes together (the original and this one), and I gotta say the attention to detail is high, starting from his performance. @@MilamasylumMA so you think he has to get a sixpack to be considered a better actor and get out of the "middle man" box? Interesting. I can think of so many actor and actresses who look like Kevin and are A-listers in Hollywood.
One thing I never realized about this scene until watching Kevin James’ parody is that, once the old man wins the coin toss, Anton is genuinely happy for him (well, as happy as a cold-blooded assassin can be, I suppose). Javier Bardem’s character truly saw himself as an agent of fate, so seeing fate reward an elderly father and husband did not upset him at all. In fact, I’d wager Chigurh came out of that store thinking: “He had an altercation with me and lived to tell the tale. Lucky bastard.”
