  • Abby SHUTS the Mouth of Haters | DOMINATES 200 Meters Bermuda Grand Prix
After a disappointing last-place finish in the 100-meter race at the Doha Diamond League meet, we all thought it was over for American sprint sensation #AbbySteiner. But in a surprising turn of events, Abby Steiner has bounced back, and this is not sitting well with her competition. What Abby did at the recently concluded 2023 #bermuda Grand Prix will go down in the book of history as one of the most phenomenal performances in the history of #trackandfield.

Abby Steiner is not a 100 meter runner. She is a 200-400 meter runner. She is not quick off the block, but has great top end speed and fantastic endurance.

Thats true.she seems to always ne slow off the blocks.that makes a huge diference at the pro levels unless you have great top end speed like usain bolt or noah lyles .but even she even seems to be having problems with her top end speed because she doesnt accelerate in the end.i dont know if its because these other girls also have great top end speed.i have no idea.

Watching her start on the 100, her arms flail out to the side and aren't helping propel her down the track. Meaning, she loses the hondo right out the gate. 200? Her top speed is consistent with or without her unconventional (spastic) arm movement.

There is no "accelerating at the end". It's who is decelerating the slowest or at most maintaining speed, which can be helped by working on muscle endurance.

@lorrainewilson1148 Can you explain to us what makes her great because she has not done anything that Sha'carri hasn't done. As a matter of fact Sha'carri is younger than Abby and beat her every time they raced in college. So if you want to brag about Abby's college career the younger Sha'carri beat her head to head every time they raced in college and as a professional including this year. So dial it back some on using the word great when describing Abby. She's a good talented athlete just like so many others, but she definitely is not great at this point in her career.

@@lorrainewilson1148 I think we should be careful when throwing out the word great for an athlete who has not accomplished anything yet. I think she is a good athlete with out a doubt. The only reason I brought Sha'carri name up was because others will read this and try to bring Abby's college year in to play. So I was letting them know Sha'carri is younger and has beat her head to head every time they have raced collegiately and as pro's. She is a good athlete, be careful with the word great. • @brokl26
      @brokl26 Рік тому +2

If that arm swing works so well, why haven’t the fastest women that have ever ran utilized it? It’s counter productive and takes a bit of energy away from her forward momentum as well as altering her ability to cut through the air by adding turbulence. Every little thing matters in the end. Abby will never approach world record times, and she may never be the fastest of her generation. The one time Abby was at the Worlds, she was an also ran. As for her in the 400, she probably won’t be able to compete at an elite level. McGlaughlin-Levrone is now running the 400 after setting records in the 400 hurdles. Abby is fast and strong but that might not be enough, in the end. Plus, Sha’ Carri is younger than Abby so there’s always the physical maturity factor involved. I do root for Abby to succeed, but I don’t see her as ever becoming the elite runner she is already being hyped as. I also think Abby needs to drop the indoor season since it’s so hard for a track athlete to peak twice in a calendar year.

I don't think Abby's competition is as worried about her winning a less than star studded race as you make it seem. Also, the fact that she hasn't done well and even finished last in a 100m race shouldn't suprise anyone; that's not her event. I don't know about all the hate either. Additionally, to say that this event is going down as one of the most phenomenal races in track and field history is also a stretch. You really put a lot of emotion into this one, but you got your clicks, so be happy! †

She is a professional now and like all athletes, you have to adjust and time when you will peak. 1) There is a difference between the 100 and 200. She lost to some top 100 specialists while she is a stronger 200 runner 2) Richardson has a LOT more in the tank, did you see the way she goofed off the last half of the straightaway in her 22.07? Season lead means nothing at this point, what matters is what she does July 6-9 in Eugene. That will determine if she gets to race the best when it counts.

ShaCarri "might" finally be a top competitor in the 200. Maybe.
And I say that for 2 reasons:
      1) ShaCarri still hasn't run below 22 seconds.
      2) Was ShaCarri "showing off" in her last 200 race? Or was she actually burnt out and HAD to slow down (but showed off as a cover) ???
On the other hand, we KNOW Abby is a top contender in the 200 having a PB of 21.77 last year. But at least so far this year the best she has run is just barely faster than ShaCarri.
So... It's going to be interesting to see how both of them perform at the end of the season.
Personally, I think they're both really just training for next years Olympics.

No hate, a couple of her runs that she dominated in looked like one leg did the boost in speed more than the other. I could only imagine how much faster she could have gone if her other leg had the same burst. Would she have had the same energy reserve before the lactic acid floods in?
Or, maybe switch bursting left and right as a recovery burst strategy, I don't know. There might be something there to build on.....

The thing is when it's a black athlete, you just sort of go like 'eh genetics'. Sometimes it's just based on predisposition to become an athlete in the first place too. This is pure skill and something special and unique to see someone who is literally just smaller, sprinting, but she doesn't have any genetic advantage, she doesn't have extra muscle or steroids, she's just doing it faster, and beat everyone. She's been training like an elite athlete down to the wire, not having better bone structure, not having anything special other than the training that she put in. That is why I like Abby if she breaks a record etc, and I don't rly care if/when ShaCarri Richardson wins agaiin or whatever.. and when I see Abby was injured, it makes sense, I bet if she was black she wouldn't have been injured tbh, but it makes it more spectacular that she recovers. She has shown that even with all the talent, there's a 'next level' that the other sprinter were failing to hit.
