LMS 46100 - Putting The Power Down Through Water Orton ! The White Rose

- Royal Scot is seen putting down the power through Water Orton station after just joining the busy Birmingham to Derby mainline from the Sutton Park line. Water Orton is our mainline local station and its one the busiest mainline stations in the country, with the line splitting in two, one heading north in the direction of Derby and the other to Coleshill and Nuneaton, there is also the slow avoiding line through Whitacre Heath which then rejoins the mainline at Kingsbury, also there is the busy freight terminal at Hams Hall. With all this, this has made Water Orton a popular spot for railway enthusiasts of all traction, as it was in the glory days too. Swiftly after Royal Scot is seen a few miles further up the line at Lea Marston as the loco powers over the River Tame. The return leg is captured at Willington and finally Wilnecote where an unwanted sight of a powering diesel helps to get the train up to speed after stopping at Tamworth. This was to avoid holding up a Edinburgh to Bristol HST which was also being held up outside Tamworth by the steam special. Not an ideal ending but it does happen time from time, though pretty rare for us. Still it was a fine sight blasting under the road bridge through the station.
We would've liked to covered this trip in more detail but as usual work commitments come first. I hope you enjoy the video.
Smashing camera work there. The evening/night shots were really special and very evocative of the good old days. Thanks for posting.
Nice to see this lovely engine showing what it can do.
Great work! Amusing capture of the gent toppling over...that's normally my job, to fall over in front of everyone.
WOW...Royal Scot is high balling down the tracts 🌬⚡ Thanks very much from Shoe🇺🇸
super!! I worked at Water Orton from school days 1959 platform box and yard, then as fireman at Saltley 21a when we got 6 or so Scots redundant from the Trent Valley. God we could make them trot along between Bromsgrove and Cheltenham on the Bristols..
Great night shots at the end, excellent throughout.
Cracking video again especially steaming through Lea Marston, that gave me goosebumps it was sooooooo good 😍. Those blood and custard coaches looked immaculate too 🤩.
They were even better on the inside!
Never been in one, Pullman coaches yes but not the B and C. Out of 10 how good are they?
Excellent video. Enjoyable watching. Kind regards C&A
Great to see Royal Scot at pace - I drove 40 miles to see it through Chesterfield but unfortunately traffic slowed it to a trot!
Also noticed that d1944 has failed that’s why 47614 is standing in
Thanks. That is a great video of my favourite engine.
Great video👍
Amused by that poor photographer that looked like he'd had too much refreshment!
Wonderfull video :)
I saw her at old hill on that day
He must have had a long day at the football.
Sweet. But the days of Main Line Steam are numbered. What will West Coast Railways, Steam Dreams and the other Steam Tour Companies do, when the coal runs out altogether?😔
that won't happen for a long time
I've seen you comment on loads of videos saying a similar thing. Don't worry about it. Ecoal is now a thing, and places like the Gwili are importing special German coal that burns better. Anthracite is used in miniature engines, and lots of railways like the Severn Valley stockpiled before the Ukraine war. Stop being a Doubting Thomas.
They will be requisitioning all your wooden furniture!! We all know the situation so can I suggest you give your negativity a rest.
@@SYKAROST hear hear
There are years and years and years of coal in this very island that will power these beauties beyond our lifetimes.
