These are really slick. So much better than the standard sort of hood pins that no matter how many times you piss about with the alignment, wont. Keep them in stock, permanently!
I literally just ordered these 2 days ago and was lookin for an installation video!! Thanks guys. Love the channel. Watch it all the time!! Hopefully I can come wheel with y’all sometime soon!!
I wish I seen this video before I installed a new hood release. I may have to donate the newly installed hood release to my brother for his XJ and buy this product from you. Awesomeness.
Since this video was uploaded on my birthday and I’m the 80th comment, it’s my 23rd birthday and these hood pins are absolutely badass. Those hood pins would look slick on my Wrangler. Just saying. You should tell Grace and Jarrett that’d be a great birthday gift 😂
The grease trick works well but I prefer to use Play-Doh. I find that I can get a more accurate transfer onto the panel I need to modify. It's a good little trick if you need something a little more precise. Great video!
I think I've seen that xj on a few jeep cherokee groups on facebook. Looks familiar. I've been wanting to get a set of these hood pins for my cherokee crawler build. Didn't know you sold them. I'm definitely getting a set now after this video.
Hey guys, nice quick release hood! Have you made a video of a quick/emergency release of the xj (1994 and earlier) rear hatch from the inside? My 1994 xj has a button that you push in from the outside to open the rear hatch, but sometimes I wish I could open it from the inside when I sleep back there. Keep up the cool vids!
Can we get another hour long wheeling video , I miss those haven’t seen one from you guys in a long time. Oh and don’t let Tim make it , nobody wants to listen to him , we just want engine sounds like all your excellent older wheeling videos
This would give other XJ owners easy access to my supercharged stroker. If they want to steal my goodies in the dark of the night they're going to have to work for it and break the window first.
Would these work on a TJ to REPLACE the stock hood latches? Just highlined my TJ using the AEV style duraflex heat reduction hood and side latches don't seem a good fit anymore.
I can't find these on the website, but if I click on the direct link (way down there in the comments) it says you are out of stock. Is that because they are great and you can't keep them in stock, or is it because they are junk and you aren't going to stock them anymore? My cable broke, and I sure would like to put these on if they are decent quality (and available)
I know it’s an old video but I installed these exactly as was done in the video, however my hood keeps popping up randomly as when I hit a bump just right the latches release. Any of y’all run in to this?
Great simple how to video, love the humor and group effort. Extra points for wearing the safety squints! I know panel fitment isn't really a priority with this build so I understand why you didn't go into detail for this install - will these hood pins impact panel gap? I assume the gaps/hinges need to be perfectly set BEFORE locating the pins, correct?
@@bleepinjeep I figured as much, on some Euro cars hinges have a swing down and in motion.. hood pins get funky. Gawd I like having a jeep that only has one wire required to drive :)
Tried installing mine today... key word, tried. I was able to do it without taking the entire front end apart. BUT, every time I tighten them they bind and I have to start over. I will try again tomorrow after I take a break.
Nope. Decided to use a set of Daystar stainless pins with polyurethane isolators. No chance of these jamming and causing me to tear my MJ apart just to open the hood.
I'm not sure I would recommend these for someone such as myself who live in northern climates.... a little moisture gets in the button and the temp goes to 6 degrees like it is here in Minnesota right now you're basically locked out of your engine compartment
@@bleepinjeep Lock de-icer fluid that can be sprayed, or heat up a key and stick it in. The issue in my mind would be that a keyhole is mounted vertically, so wouldn't get as much moisture in it, while the flat quick release might get more. One could probably heat the locking part lightly if frozen , maybe fill it with grease so moisture couldn't get in? One other quick question, I noticed in the video that the latches were left on each side when the part they clamp to was removed, as well as some of the underhood release stuff. Could the latches be removed? Or are they needed? I ask, because I've dealt with a couple of snapped hood release cables and nearly seized hood latches. Sorry if I missed the answer to the second question in the video, lack of sleep here. ☺
Just check with state laws. Some states they aren't legal with pins and safety catch. Like PA. You have to have the factory release for state inspection. Which side effect is if a cop sees you find this setup he can ticket you because the vehicle isn't to state safety and shouldn't be on the roads...learned this the hard way...
Actualy I just looked up the rules for PA and it says "§ 175.77. Body. (c) Hood and hood latches. The entire motor compartment of a vehicle specified under this subchapter shall be covered by a hood. *The hood shall be equipped with a double latch system to hold it in the closed position if the hood was originally so equipped.* ". That sounds like it should be legal as long as it has 2 latches. It doesnt say anything about it having to be factory
Yall make this look too easy. But then again all your bolts and screws have probably been well blasted with pb blaster or such. I've got my pins in, doing the holes tomorrow and getting it done before starting my AAL
I am so upset. Two weeks ago, my hood release cable broke and my local mechanic charged me $300 to replace the cable, parts and labor. I considered doing this but thought it would be too much work Edit. Watched the video. Looks like a lot of work. Still might ask the body shop next to my house how much they would charge for this
How much chee$e to have you come to my house and help me install it? I ordered it and I just got it. I’m very impressed by it but I will not be impressed by my install skills
Thought about getting some of these but then I thought “what’s keeping the hooligans from stealing my battery and messing with my engine” and then I didn’t get them
Why wouldn't you put some notches around the lower ring that attaches to the Lower Side of the hood where you can snuggle up a little better than with an allen wrench before you tighten the set screws? Hint hashtag I'll take credit for that! Do you use a rubber washer dude come on
I don't sell these anymore but you can buy them on Amazon: amzn.to/3JCYgH7
I know this was a total sales video, but I still liked it!
You guys should try to have more fun when you shoot these.

But I mean I’d settle with a Bleepin Jeep shirt and a sticker or two for my wrangler (;
Was going to go with traditional hood pins.. but this, this I like way better. Cleaner, sleaker, and it’s something different
This is 100% going to be my first purchase.
If you installed these I bet you regretted it big league.

panel gap is determined by the hinges, not the hood pins, these will have no affect on that other than the height which is easy to move up or down.

They dont. But it's no different then wranglers. Theres no locks of latch under the dash

How do they do in with mud in them? Will they get caked up and not operate the way they should?

Nice except for there is no security like the inside hood release cable provides. Under hood items could be taken more easily if near thieves.

The stock latches are what the springs rest on and give enough height to pop the hood.
