This is a really interesting idea for card games because you can see everything but won't always have the answers so you have to find the best line possible to keep going. Makes it a little more like chess than poker.
I would argue its not like chess at all. Its makes HS basically a solved game something that chess can't approach. It doesn't reward creativity or off meta picks. Why not always play with pre-made decks then?
I think the problem is that chess works this way because there is such a vast number of possible moves for most of the game and the long term impact some moves can have on the game is not immediately obvious, therefore the game is still extremely challenging even with perfect information. This format in HS makes it too easy because there are only limited numbers of plays and the impact of each is immediately obvious except for your opponent's topdeck. Handtracking is an important part of what sets apart good players from great ones, everyone that has a good grasp on the game could probably find the highest % play given this amount of info.
@@roccodishman5736 I mean chess will eventually be solved. We're already at the point where any 7 piece endgame is entirely solved. Neural networks are a great step in solving chess without needing unrealistic amounts of processing power/time. That said, yeah. Given how little choice you have on a lot of turns in Hearthstone it's more like connect 4 than Chess.
It doesn't make it more like chess, in chess perfect information works because both players start with the exact same resources, in here as you saw it boiled down more than who makes the better plays to whoever drew the better answers
13:50 Soulfire himself down to 10, play double Molten Giant for (0) and Defender of Argus between them for (4). Regardless of the outcome on the discard, he's guaranteed at least one Molten Giant with taunt.
Would love to see you do a sealed draft series again, but where you each use the SAME card pool to build 3 decks from. Would be interesting to see the different directions you each took using the same pool of cards.
At 13:50 Reynad should have soulfired his own face. If u discard the defender of argus or an ancient watcher, u do double molten giant plus sunfury protector plus owl to silence the dire wolf alpha, if u discard the sunfury protector u just defender of argus instead, if u discard the owl u do same except with ancient watcher instead of owl which is ready to be defender of argus-ed next turn, if u discard a molten giant u do molten giant plus ancient watcher plus sunfury protector This play is completely winning compared to reynad's play
Reminds me of a bit from a Yu-Gi-Oh sketch. Pegasus: MMMMM Yugi boy I can see you have your dark magician, and are getting ready to set up for a black luster soldier ritual. I know ever card in your hand, and I know exactly what you’re going to do before you do it MWUAHAHAHA . . . But I can’t stop it so I’ll just play toon town and pass
11:30 The 1/1 misplay didnt matter but the turn 2 play cost you the game. Also kinda amazing to see how one can be able to see freeze mage hand and still call optimal plays either strange, greedy or get genuinly surprised by them. I guess the content idea worked in this sense
*Hearthstone players that never played any other games* dude said “Karen” instead of “Cairne,” haha. Another one that got me was Reynard calling “Dalaran” “Dalerin,” haha
@@Rarran Even a molten discard isn't that bad when you have the watchers still and owl to let them attack on subsequent turns. It would've been a bold move, but I think it was probably his best out in the situation
Rarran draw like a god with the zoo and lose xD that was experience difference. Really good game that one to help people understand the basic of HS. Great job Rarran also shouts to Reynad.
I was really dissapointed at the last match. That Soulfire own face into plasubily 2 taunted moltens could have won that game at T4. Great content btw.
13:45 What if Reynad Soulfires his own face hoping he doesn't discard Sunfury, then plays double Molten + Sunfury or Ancient Watcher + Sunfury? Seems like a higher odds play than Soulfire on Dire Wolf Alpha
Game 2: Discarding the 1/1 MATTERED! If he had played it (in the middle *important*) that means when Reynad played the cone of cold one of the outside minions, doomgaurd or harvest golem, would be unfrozen. If doomgaurd 6 > 5, if harvest golem (it was buffed to 3 attack because of defender) plus the attack boost of abusive sargent 5 = 5 Reynad is dead. Now all of this might be irrelevant because of frost nova in hand but that means no "nova + doom" after the cone of cold so the game could have ended differently. *pulls glasses back down*
Reynad should have soulfired his own face at 13:55 for maybe getting both molten giants and a Defender (or protector if he would have been discarded) in play. Discarding a molten giant would have lost him the game no matter what.
hey dude loving the content its awesome! would you play reynad but you both have to play sub OP just to see what would happen? i recon it'll be really funny! or maybe i just sound stupid but oh well
It could be nice if you had some short summary between you two at the end. The best part of most of your videos are your interactions with other, here there was no such moment.
A bit unfair to also look at mulligan since Reynad always just went for it and Rarran then planned on it. Should've looked maybe once before choosing and then can't look again.
@Rarran at turn 7 he used 3 for arcane intelect and 4 for cone of cold. If you didn't missplay he would have had(no idea if that is proper grammar) to go another line of play cuz you got lethal on the crackback. In my book I consider this a game losing missplay.
Idk why he didnt just soulfire his own face, was guarenteed to be at least 15hp minimum on board and stops him getting statted out/killed by the doomguard

New game that isn't out yet, has been in development for years, and hasn't had any social media updates in months.

That was what I came to comments to see if anyone else noticed lol
Yeah, insanely good line, surprised they both missed it
But there's a chance to burn one molten

1:25 'His deck is wild', actually, it's classic
The Reynad colabs are fire.
Wow Handlock really gets punished by having its huge hand revealed
I love the new ideas!
13:55 Couldn’t he soulfire face to make the giants 0?
We call that the "I havent had to think about that in 8 years" diff
But then he would only have lost the taunt giver. You have to remember it's reynad.

Oh my God man, I've never thought I'd miss someone's salty rants as much as I missed Reynads. It's like a dose of the greatest drug of all time.
Oh my God I laughed so hard at the synchronization of your guys’ thoughts at 13:07. Thanks again for the entertaining videos Rarran!!
It’s not the fact that the 1/1 didn’t matter it’s the fact that you misplayed thinking I’ll play the bigger guy first then the small guy🤣
Great concept and video. I'd love to see more of this. Reynad is a legend.

Salty Reynad playing zoo in 2022... thank you Rarran
Great to see these vids with Reynad, thanks!
reynad in game 2 couldve soulfired his own face and double giant argus and probably won.
i think he was worried that he burned a molten, how would he win the game from the point, def a hard call to make

From play number 1, Rarran is like "what if he plays the wolf"... and I was just thinking "that's an obvious alchemist, right?"
Sure enough...
Lifecoach would destroy anyone in this format.

This but in wild could be really interesting because of the all the crazy combo decks
Suggestion for a video: show Reynad a tier 1, a tier 2 and a tier 3 deck, explain how the deck works and let him try to guess with one in each tier
13:45 What if Reynad Soulfires his own face hoping he doesn't discard Sunfury, then plays double Molten + Sunfury or Ancient Watcher + Sunfury? Seems like a higher odds play than Soulfire on Dire Wolf Alpha
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what we called results-based analysis by Reynad at the end there. XD
3:35 I think Azure Drake into Whirlwind would've been better
The problem about this format is that it is even more luck dependant than regular HS
I loved the video. Especially with reynoodles reaction with the misplays
Reynad won't be coming back after this one LMAO love seeing our salty Tempostorm boy in the year of our lord 2022

Welcome back Reynad
at 13:50 can reynad just soulfire his own face and then set up either 2 9/9 giants with taunt or a 4/5 and 8/8
Reynad missing the soulfire himself to discount both gigants and taunt them after
Love the bit of salt at the end
