I built the 20m kit Dave Benson use to sell many years ago....like a long time ago. Very simple design and it worked very well. With no display to use power, the rig barely used any power on receive. Fun kit and thanks Dave! 73 ~ k6sdw
The voltage regulator is an IC yes? I am wondering if you could explain the design of a have wave end feed transformer? I know the turns ratio 1:7 transforms to 1:49 impedance. On the primary 2 or 3 turns with 100pF cap on a 43 mix toroid. How would you design for a another band like 6m? How many turns? what would the xL need to be? Awesome channel enjoy it.
Hmm, can't remember if you looked at the spectral output of this rig in another video (CRS disease)? If not it would be interesting to verify the 2nd harmonic being -43 dB below the fundamental.
No. This is an exact copy of kit that Dave Benson, k1swl, made famous back in the mid 1990s. The guys who put out the kit got Dave's permission to replicate it. It's a good radio and a fun build.

Yes there is a 78L08 regulator to give an 8VDC stable supply for some of the radio. I don't know anything about antenna transformers.
With a name like RFdave shouldn't you be teaching me? :)
@@IMSAIGuy I just love RF. Thanks for the reply.

No I haven't measured it. I assume it's bad.
Specs say -42 on the 2nd
@Nikki Cooper I hadn't seen that page, that's excellent. Thanks!
Is this the transceiver that all the chinese are copying?

Intetesting.
