  • How often should you change your blades on your Automower? Can you sharpen them? Are there any other types of blades available? We try to answer these questions and a few other common questions about Automower blades in this video. There are a LOT of variables when it comes to determining how often the blades on an Automower need to be changed just like there is with sharpening the blades on a conventional mower. Every mower faces different mowing conditions so there is no set time or guide to go by as far as how often you should change the blades on your mower. If your mower is mowing when the grass is wet, or if there is debris like twigs, toys, fallen fruit, and other items in your lawn then your blades will need changed much more often then on a mower that is mowing in dry grass with no debris in the mowing area. And now with the arrival of the new Husqvarna Endurance blades there can be a difference between how often you changed your blades when using the original style Automower blades and using the new Endurance blades. What are Husqvarna Endurance blades? Well that's another question we answer in this video.

Good tips. I have to admit, the boss mow blades are far better than the stock husky blades, infact they were the ones that designed the endurance blades.

The standard blades worked, but were definitely in need of some improvement. Surprising it took this long to get an upgrade.

What does that shield actually do?

It compares the resistance of the long and short grass. If long grass, grass slovens the skid plate and the mower notices there is a need to do some circle cuts.

Do the blades last two minutes?

Is it just me or does the automower not cut a perfect swath? I can have dry conditions, put new blades on, (also normal thickness of grass), have people come over to watch my 2 450XH only to see that the automower misses cutting a few blades. Eventually the automower will cut the area. Just wondered if this was normal or not.

Yes, this tends to happen when the grass is a bit taller. It's comparable to missing a mowing with a conventional mulching mower and having the few blades of grass that get missed. So basically it is normal if you are not running your mower constantly. If the mower is running very often, then even if this does happen it's not as noticeable.

Yes, I noticed it also on my first run. Eventually everything is cut.

Are the endurance blades hard to find? I just checked the Husqvarna website. It actually directed me to a couple of Lowes stores in my area. Somehow I doubt they would carry these blades, I haven’t checked in person though.

Contact an actual Husqvarna Automower dealer to get them if you can.

Good video.. But man was this long
they last longer not because as far I can see because they can use the other side, meaning they an "extra" side... So in theory they will last 2x more

BUT WAIT........THERE'S MORE!!!! These blades are actually made out of a harder material than the standard style blades. So that along with the longer cutting edge which in theory will make them last longer. But if you are cutting in wet grass they will gum up and appear dull just like the standard blades.

@@EshlemaniaTV Are there any other down sides to cutting wet grass or while sprinkling? I'm not sure I fully understand your message above, are you saying blades won't be as sharp when grass is wet?
