Wait, is this a class teaching the bible, or has the bible been left out entirely as a reference in the curriculum of American history and they are just bringing it back as a source to where many founding father's quotes originate from? Because these are wildly different things
Oklahoma social studies teacher here. He is saying that he wants to bring back the bible as a reference source. However, the mandate does not reflect that. The mandate requires a bible to be present in every classroom. A bible in a math classroom has no educational value. The mandate also requires the study of literary techniques in the bible meaning the bible will be used outside of historical context. The bible may have symbolism in its text but you do not need to study biblical symbolism to learn about symbolism. Despite that, the idea that students don't learn about Christianity's impact of the development of America is insane. Oklahoma educational standards for social studies are public information. Part of those standards include teaching students the part religion played in the developing nation. Every social studies teacher I know of mentions the bible and Christianity in historical context and having a bible physically present serves no real purpose in teaching that historical context. This man is arguing against something that is not occurring to justify a mandate that is not Constitutional so that people will not look critically at his mandate.
The founding fathers/framers of the constitution may have waxed poetic in their personal correspondence and may have been believers of various sects or denominations, yet they, when determining how this document should be worded, understood that the republic they had envisioned was to be for all men (people). They understood that to weave the tenets of any form of any religion into the laws and statutes of this new nation would doom it to endless division and strife. That's why the word "God" or any reference to a deity or specific ideology is conspicuously absent from its text.

If we're going to remove the moral teaching of Christianity or other religions, we shouldn't have other forms of moral teaching either. Schools should be a place of learning intellectual knowledge. He and his two daughters lived in a cave. 31 One day the older daughter said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man around here to give us children-as is the custom all over the earth. 32 Let’s get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line through our father.” 33 That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. 34 The next day the older daughter said to the younger, “Last night I slept with my father. Let’s get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line through our father.” 35 So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him. @monitor1862 There is only one truth. And that is through Jesus. If we are calling ourselves Christians, we otta know that. Separation of church and state is massively important, forcing this to be taught in school will increase animosity towards christians, and return religion to a tool of control. Christians exist, because a religious state abused its power as a religious body to control people. It already is used that way in some churches to get money. This will lead to nothing good, and as a fellow christian, you should be ashamed for supporting it.
The superintendent is concerned with accuracy in history, but knows not what he preaches: (1) George Washington, the first president of the United States, never declared himself a Christian according to contemporary reports or in any of his voluminous correspondence. (2) John Adams, the country's second president, wrote, “This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it!" (3) It was during Adam's administration that the Senate ratified the Treaty of Peace and Friendship, which states in Article XI that "the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion." (The Character of John Adams by Peter Shaw, pp. 17 (1976, North Carolina Press, Chapel Hill, NC) (4) Thomas Jefferson, third president and author of the Declaration of Independence, referred to the Revelation of St. John as "the ravings of a maniac" ( Thomas Jefferson, an Intimate History by Fawn M. Brodie, p. 453 (1974, W.W) Norton and Co. Inc. New York, NY). (5) James Madison, fourth president and father of the Constitution, wrote, "Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise. . . pride and indolence in the Clergy, ignorance and servility in the laity, in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution" (The Madisons by Virginia Moore, P. 43 (1979, McGraw-Hill Co. New York, NY) and so much more history to teach about how our founding fathers felt about Christianity and it's blind followers.

"I'm excited to announce today that Oklahoma is the first state to bring the Bible back to the classroom. Today, we purchased over 500 Bibles that will be in the AP government classrooms across the state," he said. "We have the Bible, the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights. These are foundational documents in our nation's history", State superintendent Ryan Walters said. I guess he needs to read the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Hopefully the superintendent will return all tax funding or reveal how he plans to decipher christian and non-christian tax funding, since non-christian taxes fund public schools. Also, the superintendent should also produce the edits of each citation as the bible is the most revised and amended book within the nation to ensure full context of each citation (the edit/version of the bible used at that time). Use of any current bible would not align with his own interpretation of historical text and historical significance of the bible

I’m not religious though I think that religions should be taught in school without the mythological inferences, to give children a better understanding of what people believe. Faith and interpretation can be left to the church and family. However knowledge is important, it helps to understand other people.
@@TheMouseAvenger Before I reply to the OP -- please explain to me (also a religious person) what you mean by teaching religion without the mythological inferences. Because I don't see how it can be done.

So they like the original reading of the constitution? What about the part where it talks about no insurrectionist being allowed on the ballot? What about a well “regulated” militia in the 2nd Amendment? Hypocrites!
I am 100% against teaching the Bible in public schools unless part of a world religions curriculum. But truth be told, I would love to be one of the teachers that is required to teach the Bible. I would spend the first semester covering the Torah, especially Leviticus and Numbers. I would include a lengthy section on how the literate elites of Judah cobbled together myths and legends they were exposed to during the Babylonian exile. I would make it clear that this collection of books was never intended as accurate history and certainly not a science book. And I would do a project around identifying all the prophesies that never were fulfilled. And I would focus a good amount of time on reading aloud in class from the King James Version.
Did anyone listen to the argument for allowing the Bible to be included so that children can understand the history of this country? Does revisionist history support that or does the Bible not fit in anymore because it doesn’t support the prevailing agenda?
Walter’s plan to bring the Bible into the classroom is a failing idea, Walters expected Trump to win and the Supreme Court to override his local losses, his problem is if Trump won and shut down the Department of Education, this issue would fall back to the Oklahoma Constitution. Oklahoma’s standing was 47 under Hofmeister, now Oklahoma is 49th. I ask you is he improving or hurting Oklahoma schools.
Ryan is an idiot! The school system here in Oklahoma is a joke. My kids were at a school last year that was at a F rating. The Bible in schools is a joke and they need to use the money to strengthen education not about bibles. We should be keeping the separation of church and state.

Or how the New Testament has 27 books, 20 or which were written by unknown authors. How about interpreting the Bible in the context of its period in history and not through 21st century eyes.
@@TheNickels86 I’ve done quite a bit of research on the history of The Bible, the history of Christianity, the archeology of Israel. So yeah, I’ve done my share.
@@TheNickels86 The more I thought about what you said the more I realize you have never really looked at any research about these topics. So here’s a few things to look into. Let’s start with the Pentateuch, the first five Books. The creation story. There!s a marked similarity with the Babylonian Enuma Elish , an older Babylonian story. The. There’s the flood of Noah, also based on an older Babylonian story which is based on an even older Sumerian story. Adam and Eve and a snake are found the Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest known piece of literature. Just a reminder, the Jews were captured by the Babylonians in 597 BC and held until 539 BC. This is also the time when the Torah first came together. Many of the laws in the Torah are almost word for word from the Babylonian Code Of Hammurabi, the oldest known law code that influenced other cultures in the area. Moses birth story is almost exactly like the story of Sargon of Akkad, which predates Moses by 1,000 years. Then comes the Exodus which has absolute no archeological evidence to back it up . In fact the whole conquest of Canaan is questionable since the Jews were, in fact, Canaanites. Jericho, that great walled city Joshua supposedly conquered was at the time I small village with no walls as were some of the other places he supposedly conquered. Let’s move to the New Testament. The four Gospels and Acts were written by unknown authors. The original manuscripts had no names associated with them. They were also written in highly educated Greek. The 12 disciples coming as they did from small villages around Galilee, spoke Aramaic and wouldn’t have been exposed to Greek much, if at all, and were highly likely to have been illiterate. Literacy, especially at the level needs to write and compose in Greek, was the privilege of the wealthy. Small villages around Galilee show no signs of having any schools or even synagogues where someone could learn to write, not to mention life being a hand to mouth existence where children would have been working as soon as they were able. Now as to the rest of the New Testament, only 7 of the 13 Pauline epistles were definitely written by Paul. None of the other letters could’ve e been written by those who claim to have written them. A Revelation was almost not included in the canon and only made it in at the last minute. Another Apocalypse, the Apocalypse of Peter, almost made it in. No one knows who wrote it except his name is John, but not the same John who was attributed as the author of the gospel. The Gospel of John was written in highly educated Greek, while Revelation was very crude by comparison. So there, if you want to teach the Bible in schools, teach the truth about it.
How dare you put a Donald Trump bible in our schools. To take our sacred book and add political documents and agendas into it is like slapping Jesus in the face. This is the greatest shameful act I have ever seen. I pray for all of us.

Perfect! This is what America has done! Lord God forgive America for turning her back on you and send your Spirit to move in this land like you did long ago! We need you Jesus!
bring one person that lived those days and i will follow it when all you need to do is pay attention to what is around you it lies within you the person

Wait, is this a class teaching the bible, or has the bible been left out entirely as a reference in the curriculum of American history and they are just bringing it back as a source to where many founding father's quotes originate from? Because these are wildly different things
Exactly. Another misleading headline by the mainstream manipulators.

Lot and His Daughters
30 Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave. 31 One day the older daughter said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man around here to give us children-as is the custom all over the earth. 32 Let’s get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line through our father.”
33 That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him.
Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.
36 So both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father.

Separation of church and state is massively important, forcing this to be taught in school will increase animosity towards christians, and return religion to a tool of control.
It should be taught as literature, not religion.

Well, about they teach the history of the Bible. Like the Old Testament being filled with myths and laws plagiarized from other cultures in the Levant and Mesopotamia.

Perfect! This is what America has done! Lord God forgive America for turning her back on you and send your Spirit to move in this land like you did long ago! We need you Jesus!
So, if you are teaching the Bible, be prepared for the many students that will discover its a book created by man for manipulation.
Good
All of a sudden, the boys “put the Christ back in Christmas” doesn’t seem all that crazy
Well christ was never in Christmas to begin with. It's a Pagan holiday which Christian just use as an excuse to celebrate.
So......Bible bad, LGBTQ good? Gotcha
@@LaughingElephant3236 No, that is NOT what they're saying AT ALL! Let us think logically... 🖖
Bible always bad ❤
bring one person that lived those days and i will follow it when all you need to do is pay attention to what is around you it lies within you the person
I wish all the states think this way.
Then maybe you should move??? Cuz then we wouldn't be America and I like my country. And my country has freedom of religion and separation of church and state and Christiana are constantly trying to destroy it. Go help isreal so they can stop eating my tax dollars and be with Jesus and leave the rest of us alone. ❤
Gotta love the question from the host. He asks Walters why not the Torah? Is he not aware that the Torah is part of the Bible? Maybe the host should sit through an Oklahoma elementary school class and learn some Biblical history. Love what Ryan Walters is doing! Keep it up!!
Bravo! Wish Georgia would enforce the same Law!
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 not bravo. Its a violation of what your own country stands for and it's constitution. Separation of church and state. Freedom of religion. ❤🇺🇸 - the Bible doesn't belong in school
Which Bible and through which theological lens will be taught? Catholic, Baptist, Judaism, Nazarene, Episcopal, Methodist, Orthodox, Etc. There are more than 200 Christian denominations in the United States. God forbid we get a liberal who teaches Mathew 25:35 'I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ Every conservative christian would be at the school board complaining about wokism and socialism.
The comments by News Nation guy are aweful
Torah is part of the bible anyway, it's just the first part.
🙏
1. Thou shall not covet (Native removal). 2. Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s (Boston Tea Party). 3. Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. (King George). 4. For in Christ there is no Jew nor Greek, male nor female, slave nor free for all are one in the body of Christ.
Who is going to be the teacher?
Our country was founded on religion.
No....Read the 1st Amendment.
No it wasn't. The founding fathers came here to get away from the tyranny of the religion. Sound like a parrot, just repeating. I remember history class and I remember why the founding fathers came here. I remember that so many have given their lives for our freedom to choose.
Sorry... that's christain nationalist propaganda and untrue.
