I have to say these songs in this episode which are fulled with happiness and delight are absolutely fascinating . I am waitting for the new album of this .
It actually has for me.:P I remember a few years ago on Christmas Eve morning, I was able to get home early from work. I fixed some early breakfast/very late night snack and watched this on TV on Christmas morning. Since then, I try to do this same thing every year. This, and watch Doctor Who. XD
Nice someone else who's first introduction to the story was Micky's Christmas Carol :D Great reaction and commentary. I agree the really nailed the Spirits. The parallels between Starlight and Snowfall are also spectacular here. They also made this fit so well into MLP's mythos it was great to see as an adaptation. My other favorite animated version growing up was Mr. Mcgoo's Christmas Carol for another musical version.
The Ghost of Christmas Present always wears a robe similar to that; it's suppose to be a more elegant symbollism towards "Saint Nicholas" AKA Santa's attire. Showing warmth, kindness and prosperity, all that the present should represent. Every single version of A Christmas Carol will have the Ghost of Christmas Present in a robe like that lol It's usually green, but I guess they thought yellow looked better on Pinkie lol
This my favorite Hearth's Warming episode by far. "Mickeys Christmas Carol" is part of my holiday tradition too. Speaking of which, haven't you heard that Alan Young(the voice of Scrooge McDuck)recently passed away? I was shocked and saddened by the news. Makes me wonder what person Disney will bring in to take his place. Nice reaction, BTW.
If you were confused about exactly what Snowfall's spell would have done, she said "all memory will fade away." This spell is a recursive one, removing either the memory of past Hearth Warming Eves, or more likely, recursively removing the actual days, based on Luna's description of the future.
Before this episode, Applejack was the only one of the mane six (or seven) who had never flown. Now, with the advent of the Spirit of Hearth's Warming Past, all of them have taken to the skies at least once (including Rarity with butterfly wings and Pinkie Pie on her flying contraption).
1. 1:39 "Oh, Fluttershy looks adorable." Doesn't that go without saying? 2. 2:41 We all knew who the _real_ star of this episode was. ;) 3. 7:49 -Starlight- Snowfall: "Calendars shorter by a single day. Is my magic up to the test?" Ranger: "...Can that actually be done?" We don't have magic in our world, so how the heck should I know? 4. 8:32 "And again we still have the anthropomorphic concept of the ponies standing on their hind legs." A fact which some artists have taken full advantage of. oblitor.deviantart.com/art/Upgraded-fully-posable-durable-Rarity-plushie-337780313 5. 11:39 "Death Note?" Dear Professor Flintheart... 6. 16:10 Twilight (singing): "And the reason is to be with your friends!" Starlight: "Youuuu know you're doing your Pinkie Pie voice, right?" Fun fact: When Tara strong auditioned for MLP: FiM, she tried out for several roles, including Pinkie Pie. 7. 17:53 "Discord has to be the spirit.... of Christmas Future." Discord was originally going to be in the role of the Bob Marley spirit, but that part had to be cut for time. As much as I love Discord though, I don't think his character would have been appropriate for the Spirit of *X* Yet to Come. That role needs to be filled by someone much more serious. Also, Luna singing >>>>>>>> John de Lancie singing 8. 20:22 "Vinyl, did you scratch the record?" With a phonograph? That's gotta be like nails on a chalkboard! 9. 22:18 Flutterholly! Get it?
My favorite Christmas Carol is a Muppet Christmas Carol though the Scrooge mcduck one is a close second now sharing that spot with this episode. And I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that this episode despite coming out in May has put me in the Christmas spirit and it has continued to do so every time I've watched it
17:52 It's funny you mention that about Discord. Apparently, he was meant to play a Jacob Marley-like character in the episode, but they removed his scene for time constraints.
05:30 I wonder what those orange crystals are. They seem to give a lot of heat when they're glowing (at least enough to make the brew in the cauldron boil), but they don't seem to be hot themselves. Is that something like induction ovens in Human World? 07:57 Speaking of commercializing Christmas: it's kinda interesting that the spell erasing Hearh's Warming Eve is just next to the spell for gold transmutation in this book ;> As if making money were the thing which ruins the spirit of the holiday ;J I find it to be very symbolic, though I'm not sure it might have been intentional. 10:10 She's got another one - a green one - for St. Patrot's Day ;) 30:10 I think it was there intentionally, but not in the way you think: they simply wanted to make a parallel to what Starlight did in Season 5, which Spike brought up right away after she said it. Starlight didn't like the cutie marks, so she erased them from the flanks of ponies in the entire village. Then, in Season 5's finale, she didn't like Twilight and her friends, so she decided to erase their friendship from history altogether by changing their past, causing a real havoc with timelines. The story might seem like another "Christmas Carol" remake, but there's more in it than meets the eye ;> If you want to know what exactly, I recommend you to watch +Applegeek's reaction to this episode, especially his afterthoughts, because he noticed some interesting parallels between this episode and Season 5's finale. There seems to be Starlight's backstory. hidden in this episode ;> 41:44 "To move it up, it hurts like crap" :D You never know when the rhyme will flow ;D
While yes, we saw Vinyl's mouth move, remember, that was only inside the confines of a story. Just as Fluttershy is not really "Flutter Holly", I doubt Vinyl is supposed to represent herself. At the real party, she didn't sing, she just nodded her head. She's still mute.
That's right. People like Dillon The Hacker or Anti-Bronies are people who think that if they don't like something, then they have to just end it for everyone. 4:50 You called it :) I just knew you would love this Christmas episode because of how it relates perfectly to the Scrooge Mcduck Christmas Carol. You're so playful and funny, and your reviews and speeches for ANYTHING you react to is just outstanding!
Okay I know I'm really late to this, but...who thinks that they would have used Chancellor Neighsay as Professor Flintheart if this story-telling took place when the school of friendship was around? Because I think they would have 100% done it.
Am I the only one that had a theory from the season 5 finale if Starlight successfully ripped the time traveling spell? Would the future she might've changed might have been if the Windegos took over? This episode might've proved this theory.
Ain't it a coincidence that you post this two days after I posted a Christmas story bit? Yup. I knew you'd like this one, besides the good cameos of your favorites. My mom LOVES A Christmas Carol and all the different versions of it, growing up with it because of her fondness for it, it honestly wasn't my favorite tale, even the Mickey version didn't appease me (partly 'cause Minnie didn't talk but what can ya do.) My favorite Christmas story is actually the Nutcracker and all of its variations. But as I've gotten older, I have grown an appreciation for the importance of A Christmas Carol being a constant reminder to sway away from the constant commercialism of the holiday. And MLP's version is now my absolute favorite version because of how creative it was to work with out one of the original's main plot points being Tiny Tim, and instead focused on MLP's mythology of the Windigos. I honestly kept chuckling at all of your wrong guesses for who the ghost of Hearth's Warming Future could be , and glad that though it wasn't at ALL who you expected, you still accepted it, just how I accepted and adored Bayonetta as the last DLC addition to Super Smash Bros. but that's way off topic. Point is, I loved this episode and I'm glad you did too buddy!^.^ Now there just the next episode that Vinyl appears in and is a little more important because she's a plot point. A very clever plot point.;D
Its Ironic, because during my school year during December, we were doing A Christmas Carol Play for my school, and I played Scrooge T_T so embarassing....
Z'anyone else think Flintheart would have made a good Marley allegory for this story? Y'no, as the one who started Snowfall on this path. /// I mean, it worked for Barbie's Christmas Carol.
Hey Ranger, something I think you might enjoy reacting to (If you haven't already seen it) is the Pheonix Wright Turnabout Storm series. While, yes, they are long videos, they're good. All 5 (I think) Episodes put together equals 8 hours. But I highly reccomend you watch them if you haven't already, and could be a good thing to do a reaction to, especially if you like the Nintendo Pheonix Wright games.
....The Winter Feast, whatever it was called back then, has ALWAYS been a great feast to endure the winter, since long before "christianity" started claiming it as "the birth of Jesus". It was ALWAYS important, christianity brought it nothing, except possibly Saint Nicolaus. There is, in fact, nothing that historically say that Jesus even were born during the winter. ***************************************************** I thought your reaction were among the best, but when you claimed that it was about the Birth of Christ in your afterthoughts, I just went ..... no. But, in a way, thinking about it, it makes me appreciate the concept of "Hearth's Warming Holiday" more, as it essentially blends those two ways of celebrating Christmas together.
I absolutely love how Luna's solo literally STUNS everyone who hears it.
I have to say these songs in this episode which are fulled with happiness and delight are absolutely fascinating . I am waitting for the new album of this .
"And the reason is to be with your friends!"
I love, love, LOVE Rarity's dress! It's absolutely gorgeous, I want someone to make that gown into a human version.
I forgot how much I love this episode! xD I kinda want to make it a tradition to watch every Christmas (or rather, Hearth's Warming) Eve c:
It actually has for me.:P I remember a few years ago on Christmas Eve morning, I was able to get home early from work. I fixed some early breakfast/very late night snack and watched this on TV on Christmas morning. Since then, I try to do this same thing every year. This, and watch Doctor Who. XD
I love this episode. The songs are soo good. Applejacks song is my favorite.

Awwww Starlight is so adorable.
Discord was going to be Jacob Marley, but they had to cut it for time.
I get chills when Luna sings
This my favorite Hearth's Warming episode by far. "Mickeys Christmas Carol" is part of my holiday tradition too. Speaking of which, haven't you heard that Alan Young(the voice of Scrooge McDuck)recently passed away? I was shocked and saddened by the news. Makes me wonder what person Disney will bring in to take his place. Nice reaction, BTW.
Incidentally, looking back on this now, it's bittersweet since Alan Rickman (aka Snape) passed away the same year this episode first aired.
If you were confused about exactly what Snowfall's spell would have done, she said "all memory will fade away." This spell is a recursive one, removing either the memory of past Hearth Warming Eves, or more likely, recursively removing the actual days, based on Luna's description of the future.
After seeing Flitter and Cloudchaser at I was like man we need an episode centered around these two that will be a interesting thing to see.
Before this episode, Applejack was the only one of the mane six (or seven) who had never flown. Now, with the advent of the Spirit of Hearth's Warming Past, all of them have taken to the skies at least once (including Rarity with butterfly wings and Pinkie Pie on her flying contraption).

5. 11:39 "Death Note?"

Discord was to be the character that warns snowfall about the spirits but was cut for time.
Snape! I loved that cameo.
I want a Christmas episode based around the Princesses, maybe all of them with everyone at the Crystal Empire, it'd be amazing.
My favorite Christmas Carol is a Muppet Christmas Carol though the Scrooge mcduck one is a close second now sharing that spot with this episode. And I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that this episode despite coming out in May has put me in the Christmas spirit and it has continued to do so every time I've watched it
Have you ever seen Muppets Christmas Carol? It’s my favorite version of Christmas Carol and Mickey’s Christmas Carol is number 2 for me.
That Snape cameo tho...please tell me you caught that. X'D
Don`t tell me you didn`t recognize Snape?
omg i was thinking the same thing :D
Purple Guy: he is 1 out of the only 2 guys that didn't see them out of all the reaction videos I've seen.
Poor Grinch.... i mean Scroo....i mean Snowfall.
9:05 - I like to refer to these moments as "Shitty Spike".
This episode is a reference to a Christmas movie i think... Christmas carol!! Its an amazing movie
I wonder if any of the staff commented Tara Strong on using her Pinkie Pie voice, like Starlight did
17:52 It's funny you mention that about Discord. Apparently, he was meant to play a Jacob Marley-like character in the episode, but they removed his scene for time constraints.

Just thought you'd like to know that Discord was slated to play Jacob Marley but was scraped probably due to time constraints

Damn it starlight quit messing with the future
Ooohh boy the next episode is insane.
That's right.
People like Dillon The Hacker or Anti-Bronies are people who think that if they don't like something, then they have to just end it for everyone.
4:50 You called it :)

1:27 Lemon Heart so I wonder where Moondancer is. they showed the other four so Moondancer should be somewhere

discord was supposed to be Marley's ghost and earn snowfall but it was cut because of time
