LYRICS:
Mississippi phone booth
In the middle of the night
Bugs flyin’ everywhere
Crazy in the gas station light
Heart pounding through my t-shirt
Pumping change in a call to you
Mississippi phone booth
Operator could you get me through
Flat black 84 Camaro
Run it up from New Orleans
Everything south of I-10
I just blew it all to smithereens
I’m somewhere close to Jackson
I need Memphis on the line
Mississippi phone booth
Tell Jesus I’m outta dimes
Quart of vodka eight ball cocaine
Not enough to change my mind
Mississippi phone booth
Please don’t hang up on me this time
I’m running straight outta time

Dear Americans, this man is one of your biggest national treasures. Please, do your best to keep him warm and safe, for the sake of all mankind. Thank you
John is sounding better than ever and the pairing with the Jerry Douglas band is fantastic. It's beautifully recorded too.
Aren't we so lucky that John Hiatt, Steve Earle and Rodney Crowell, all buddies from 'Heartworn Highways' days are still with us and still making great music. Looking foward to this album!
John Hiatt and Jerry Douglas are both outstanding in their own rights, but together they are a match made in heaven!
Real Music here everybody!!
John the icon. The man keeps giving and contributing his outstanding music to all of us decade after decade. John Hiatt never ceases to amaze me. his lyrics have never been laconic nor tedious. He is a musical genius whose music has metamorphized and has both enthralled and mesmerized us over the last 50 years. Keep playing John. You are a blessing in the world of Blues and Bluegrass music.
Bluegrass meets Blues cool
How on Earth can ANYONE give this a thumbs-down? Hiatt is musically impeccable. Ditto for Jerry Douglas. Both national treasures indeed. I thank God every day for the kind of heavenly music like they deliver.
How good is this! You won't hear this on the radio. If you just listen to the radio, you're missin' out.
OMG! That was FANTASTIC! I didn't even know John Hiatt was still alive!
Love John Hyatt. So underrated as a songwriter and guitar player. He’s the total package for the groove he’s in ... and love that growly voice.
Just like good wine, he gets better year after year. Can't wait to listen to the full album.
I just can't get enough, it's like warm sunshine in my ears.
Thank you, John & Jerry...two of the really classy acts in the music biz.
Very cool performance, outstanding musicians. And Jerry Douglas also knows how to play the blues. Regards from Germany.
New songs from Hiatt are always welcome, and a great band for your sound, John! I'll be gettin' this album..
It sadly feels like I'm the only 27 y/o who's diggin' & lovin' Hiatt...
Hiatt’ is Gettin up there in age- but still sounds great. All the Decades I’ve watched Douglas-Never heard him play a sour note!!!! Legends in their Time!
Nice to see John still with New West Records. He has been with them a long time now. Giving one of the greatest singer/songwriters that loyalty is unheard of these days. Love this song. Looking forward to the new disc.
He sounds as good as ever with a great band. From Royal Wootton Bassett Wiltshire England
