I had problems for months. I saw this video and tried lifting my starter with a jack and pushed it up towards the flywheel. It’s been fine ever since. Thank you sir
I have an 86 ranger with a 2.9l v6, have fuel pressure in the injector but won't start, turns over but will start if I squirt fuel into the intake. My grandfather says it sounds like the injectors dont have power going to them. Ideas?
@@Joseph-uw8zz a better way to explain it is all the ones I had issue with wernt to fat in or out they were too far away from the edge of the fly wheel so you have to move it in toward the flywheel kinda like the way you move an alternator to tension a belt
Lightly loosen the bolts and use a hammer to knock it closer to the engine so that it takes the slop out of the distance between the gear and the flexplate
Thank you!!!!!!!🙏 I have gone through three starters in a year and I didn’t know why they kept grinding. Thank you!!!

I bought a new starter not a remain and still doing that
Its usually loose bell housing bolts check that and. Use locktite on starter bolts and you shouldn't have any trouble
I'm thinking that the gear mesh on my f150 ranger is too tight. anyone know of any tapered shims to help me get some lean on this thing?
Saw your hot dog electrocution video- pretty neat stuff. I see you haven’t posted in a long time… Hope you’re good.
Will shimming the starter do the same rather than beat the heck out of it?
No shimming moves it in and out relative to the flywheel you want to move it closer so the teeth will engage better
@@phantom3rdchannel can the separator plate make THAT much of a difference as far as how far off it is?
@@Joseph-uw8zz the separator is important but you are still talking about start positioning in and out when the problem is location left to right

BUT HOW DO YOU FIX THIS PLEASE HELP ME DUDE IVE HAD THIS FOR A YEAR AND A HALF

I hope this is what it is
A bad starter all along. 🤷🏻♂️
