    It helps if you’re Turkish and live in Türkiye. I found it completely impossible after trying t learn it for 20 years: French, German and Latin were easier. Also, Turkish is only useful for countries who use Türkic languages, whereas English, Spanish and French are truly international languages and are far more useful to learn.

      If you're thinking of it as an investment, you might be right (better job opportunities lies on something else), but when you learn a language, you gain access to its world of thought and emotions. Without knowing Turkish, you cannot be as enthusiastic, passionate, sincere, and friendly like a Turk. It's a language where people call each other "my brother" or "my aunt, my uncle etc" and it has concepts and idioms that can't be translated into other languages. It has unique songs, stories, and ways of looking at life. Today, Turkey is one of the most visited countries in the world, and everyone is surprised when they come. For a Westerner, learning Turkish is different and difficult, but it's not a wasted effort.
