In my opinion a great Football manager should be able to change the plan based on each game (We haven't done that even before injuries). Eddie Howe knows one plan and one plan only. I respect him. He helped building the team. He was good for the spirit of the team for a couple of years, but now if we want to become champions, we need a manager with champions mentality. If we want to keep this romantic love for Eddie, then we can keep doing so, but don't expect a different outcome.

Our team should have had 5more players to meet the demands of all we are involved in. What happened was thus inevitable. Trippier lasted for 92 minutes playing for a team with no offensive capability .
Trippier’s penalty taking: It was a no win situation. There was no other player who would guarantee a successful penalty. Eddie made the right decision: he had to psychologically support Trips.
PS Paul: honestly now, when you saw trips preparing for the shot: did you think that he should not be there?

He does sometimes try to defend the indefensible and he was talking bollocks trying to compare tinos header to trippiers … I’ve watched that mistake back thinking that in the cold light of day it wouldn’t look as bad . But it does can’t honestly understand why one of the most experienced players on the pitch would attempt to cushion a header back to the keeper across his penalty area .. beggars belief it would have been bad enough if a youth player had done it … needs to sort his head out away from football and come back when he’s in the right frame of mind

I’m glad there was a bit of in fighting and passion after the game there. I’m sick and tired of not being able to criticise the players at all, it’s a small club mentality and without self review you just live in la la land.
I was at the game and believe me it’s a long journey home after throwing away the game.

Actually, it's easy and simple, if Newcastle United doesn't want to be abandoned by the fans, and be loved throughout the season, the way to do this is by winning every match. To achieve victory the squad must be strengthened by typical aggressor players.
Chelsea's example of every player change makes Newcastle United fans anxious, because the depth of their squad is extraordinary, starting from Sterling, Palmer, Nkunku, Mudryk, Broja etc., it's just a matter of time, they will play together and threaten their competitors, I think starting January 2024 , they will skyrocket, competing with Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham, Manchester City etc.
Meanwhile, Tottenham, Manchester United, Newcastle United will sink to the middle position, because their squads are not special.
Winter transfer if Newcastle United doesn't buy 2 attackers, at the level of Bruno and Isak, don't expect to be able to compete in the top 6, buy the class of Jonathan David (Lille), Serhue Guirassy, Ollie Watkins, Victor Boniface, Marcus Leonardo, Ivan Toney (but expensive), if players of their class are owned by Newcastle United.
Newcastle United can compete to be in the top 4, but if you rely on the current squad to get into the top 10 it will be very difficult.
They can be rotated with attacker players like Gordon, Isak, Wilson, Almiron, Gordon can even play as a left midfielder, also Joelinton, Murphy, Willock if he has recovered from injury.
If the depth of the squad is good, we don't need to worry about star players getting injured.

Probably the worst way to exit a cup competition on penalties especially after leading for so long, made a lot more painful given the teams we beat in the previous rounds. As always these shoot outs become a lottery, I have no intention of second guessing, questioning or quering the decision of EH or his staff, they make their decisions with information, discussions, experience that none of us have. No player walks up to take a penalty thinking he is going to miss, they will feel bad enough if they do, believing they let their team mates, club and fans down. What they need now is support and a hug. We move on now to Luton, then Forest. The competition has gone, who wins it now if Liverpool get through its between The bin dippers and Chelsea it maybe that the footballing gods have decided this already .., We pick ourselves up, another harsh learning experience but all part of our growth.

  • @KevBell184
    @KevBell184 9 місяців тому

I think we might be starting to see where Howe might not take us to the top top level. In the 2 most crucial games against Milan and Chelsea, we've lost from winning positions. The players as individuals gave everything in both and it still wasnt enough, despite the injuries, at what point do we look at his approach to games, we cant defend for 75 minutes like we have tonight and expect to win football matches, in game tactics, it was clear Gordon wasnt fit and took ages to bring him off. We played a final in February that we never looked like winning. Let's see how we go in the FA cup and final league position when he's got a full squad to judge him on. Man City and Liverpool wouldnt have defended a 1-0 lead for 75 minutes 😢

    • @lardy70s

Newcastle fans are far too delusional and expectant. One minute you're fighting a relegation battle, the next you're in the UCL and all of a sudden it's your devine right to win everything??. Eddie Howe has gone from club messiah to pantomime villain faster than a microwave burger. Toon fans need a reality check. You'll never be a Man City or Chelsea.

@@lardy70s no, that was 2 years ago, things have changed and we aren't living in the past now, we're always looking forward and how we can progress, it's not all of a sudden having high expectations, it's being ambitious and wanting to do better. When did I say we have a divine right, they're all your words. But we've had key moments where we should have done better, and you do start to look at why we've failed. That's natural, and if we keep looking back we'll never get anywhere. Stop making assumptions on what you think we think, if you support a team, you want them to improve right? There's a big difference between ambition and reality. Unfortunately toon fans live far from the latter. It's about knowing your level. I'm a Spurs fan and have lived through heartache and know what it's like to play well and almost achieve greatness. We've finished 2nd in the Premier League, runners up in the 2019 UCL and been in the EFL Cup final a few times and guess what?, we've achieved nothing since 2008!. Nothing wrong with ambition and passion but we all need a reality check. When we won the EFL in 2008 all I got from the toon fans was the mickey mouse cup.
