When I woke up today, the impeachment news was the first thing I saw. I’m very proud and happy for the South Korean people for standing up and preserving their freedoms and reminding these politicians that they SERVE the people, not themselves🇰🇷

Absolutely right, I followed the vote live. There are many accounts of the number of people protesting, 200k, 1M. To me it does not matter how many where there. It was very cold and it was a lesson to all. Furthermore the day of the coup ( cause it was that) the Korean people went to the assembly and confronted the police and arm forces and helped the congresspeople to go in the building so they can vote to nullify the martial law. Thanks for sharing this. I do know a bit about Korean politics and it does not matter if one is on one side or the other. The martial law was so wrong nothing else to add in this forum.

The video was filmed at Ewha Womans University. You should watch the rally that took place in front of the National Assembly.

@@zevdoeskdramaIn Korea, there is an expression called "awake citizens." Zev, I truly respect you. The reason I asked you to watch the rally in front of the National Assembly is that I didn’t expect a fandom to form, but it did. I thought it would be fascinating to see fans of various artists raising their voices together as one. Thank you for taking an interest in Korea.

It’s been a long time since I’ve last greeted you.
You may or may not know, but on December 3, there was an unconstitutional self-coup involving martial law.
Countless citizens gathered at the National Assembly to block the entry of martial law troops with their bare bodies. Approximately 1,000 martial law troops (excluding police) were deployed to the National Assembly.
In response, 190 members of the National Assembly scaled the walls to enter the building and unanimously passed the ‘Resolution to Revoke Martial Law.’ This process took about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
According to the law, martial law should have been immediately lifted once the resolution was passed. However, the revocation didn’t occur until 3 hours and 30 minutes after the resolution was passed, taking a total of 6 hours. During this time, the coup leaders were actively seeking ways to nullify the resolution and even attempted to prepare for a second martial law.
The wife of the treasonous leader dreamed of becoming the president of a unified Korea, and the leader himself conspired to create an external pretext to achieve unification through force rather than peace. However, if not for the martial law troops who resisted unreasonable orders, the citizens who risked their lives in front of the National Assembly, and the 190 lawmakers, they would have invaded North Korea.
This would have prompted China to intervene, leading to Russia’s involvement due to the U.S. military presence in South Korea.
In short, this could have escalated into a global conflict, with the entire Korean Peninsula becoming the battlefield.
Without the brave citizens and the 190 lawmakers, we wouldn’t be able to use the internet today, enjoy our hobbies, or guarantee the safety of our favorite celebrities.
Because a madman leading the coup held supreme control over the military, my priority had to be impeachment (suspension of duties), not IU. That’s why I haven’t been around much lately-I hope you understand.
It deeply saddens me that some citizens fail to understand the gravity of martial law.
Perhaps the complex language in the unconstitutional decrees makes it hard to comprehend. However, it’s frustrating to see people not fully realizing that disobeying martial law troops at the time could have led to immediate execution.
Yesterday, the National Assembly finally passed the impeachment motion (suspension of duties) against the coup leader.
The Constitutional Court will now review whether to uphold the impeachment, and given the clear violations, it’s likely that it will proceed.
However, since some justices in the court were appointed by the coup leader, the outcome remains uncertain. While a second martial law seems unlikely, I plan to join protests to demonstrate the will of the people.
Though I wasn’t able to visit during the martial law period, we’ve managed to overcome one critical hurdle. After this, I may not be able to visit right away until the impeachment passes in the Supreme Court. I hope you understand.
Oh, and one more thing! IU pre-paid for hand warmers, food, and drinks for citizens and Uaenas who were there. Isn’t her thoughtfulness and care for Uaenas truly beautiful?
In short, this could have escalated into World War III, with the entire Korean Peninsula becoming the battlefield.
