Clancy Brown is the man! I remember being terrified of him in Highlander and then loving his voice work in all the cartoons I grew up with. What an awesome dude.
Not a big fan of celebrities or actors but this guy I like. Very versatile and I’ve enjoyed his performances and everything I’ve seen him in. Seems like a real down to earth kind of guy.
Reread the sentence. Lex Luthor on screen not Clancy Brown. And Clancy started as an actor on screen. A lot of the roles being iconic as well. And still does act "on screen" when he gets the chance. Maybe stop only watching cartoons grow up and diversify your intake of entertainment. @@I-speak-U-shut-it
How the heck is the man who played The Kurgan ever worried about finding roles and paying the mortgage. This man is up there with the greatest actors of our time.
Everyone still has those same kinds of concerns, regardless if they're a famous and talented actor. And he's been largely( but not completely) typecast playing bad guys but he made the best out of it.
Same.....loved his work since I was a child.....was super pumped when I found out he's playing the villain in dexter new blood.....dexter is my favorite show and to have Clancy in its conclusion I'm just hyped to no end !!
Both you guys were fantastic on that show. Such great memories, hat's off to you. Also, Clancy, I just love your performance as Surtur. I have it totally memorized try and mimic as best possible. Such brilliant voice work.
Man, I can relate to Clancy in a way - when you reach that point where you want to be with your family, at home, being “present” - you make some sacrifices. So WORTH IT
I suspect more are like to say "Mr Krabs, you're so greedy!" (if they actually heard him do the voice in person) . Bigger audience over the years maybe? I'm like you though, and saw Highlander twice when in cinema and maybe 5 times on DVD and loved the Starship Troopers because of him and Michael Ironside (even Rue McClanahan the xeno-biology teacher) - loved the older roles in that film. All the young actors seemed like "actors to be" - though I loved it.
Stating the obvious, but I do love how Clancy Brown's voice is so excellent that it embodies Highlander's "There can be only one." You hear his voice, and you know.
You can tell Clancy enjoyed acting, he looked for the fun and found it. Many actors miss this and i think it takes away from the power having fun playing a character brings. Clancy's roles are all iconic and he was great in all the ones that i have seen. And knowing he voiced so many cartoon characters, and had fun doing so, made him a part of many peoples growing up.
Both of them are really good voice actors! I would love to see Michael do more voice acting. Fun fact: Clancy Brown also played Long Fang in Avatar the Last Airbender.
He's so good in everything he does. Highlander, Starship Troopers, Shawshank, Dexter. He was awesome as the Inquisitor in Tales of the Jedi. I hope they do that character in live action and he plays him.
The definitive Lex Luthor (Sorry, Mike) and the definitive Flash on the same podcast. The pandemic trend has been table reads of old TV shows and movies. If you could somehow pull off a Justice League reunion, I would pay to see it.
Clancy Brown is such an amazing dude and actor :) . He was brilliant in The Shawshank Redemption as Captain Hadley . He will always be the voice of Lex Luthor for me . I loved his voiceacting in Spongebob as Mr Krabs , Uka Uka and Dr Neo Cortex in the Crash Bandicoot games , Hades in God of War 3 , Savage Opress in Star Wars The Clone Wars and many more 🙂
I have always been delighted to see Clancy in a movie because I see him as all the layers and characters that are hiding in there with him. The last time I was pleased in that way was watching Cowboys and Aliens the first time. He appears as a gun barrel to the protagonists head and a voice that implies "Someone's done fucked up bigtime." I hadn't yet decided if I was going to like the movie or not, but at that point I didn't care anymore now that Clancy Brown was in Town.
I literally jump when I see Clancy in something. He's one of my fave actors. Who else plays menacing without being over the top, while doing softer characters with great nuance. His acting in Carnival needs mention, going from nice to evil in 2 seasons.
Seems like he was always going to be great with vocal acting. 🙂 The Kurgan character alone was a great lesson in delivering dramatic performances via SYLLABIC RESONANCE... alliteration, elongated vowels from one moment to another, etc. It all matters. Hmmm. 🤔 He'd probably make an excellent bad guy (either of the main ones) in my own series. I never really thought of that until this moment. Too bad there's no way Clancy would ever hear about any of it! 😁 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨
My favourite part of that episode is when Lex in Flash's body quickly runs to the mirror to find out his identity only to unmask and say, "I don't know who that is?"
I absolutely LOVE his voice work. I know him best as Mr Krabs obviously, but to me he's the definitive Dr Cortex from Crash Bandicoot and Lex Luthor. The only actor that would be able to be just as good as Clancy's Lex Luthor would be Giancarlo Esposito.
It is amazing that if Clancy only did two roles in his life, Captain Hadley and Mr. Krabs, those radically different projects and his role in both would alone ensure him a everlasting legacy and immortality.
Top of Show: Refers to a set amount of money that is budgeted in a show for its guest star roles. For example, a role might say that the show “Does not break top of show,” which means that no matter who the actor is, the show will not pay that person more than what their top of show rate is. Top of show rates vary on the type of show (1 hour, ½ hour), and the show’s union affiliation (SAG, AFTRA). More well-known actors are typically offered more than top of show (assuming the show breaks top), and may be offered rates such as “double top,” i.e. twice the show’s top of show rate.
Such a shame this guy doesn't get enough attention. He honestly should have been a live action Lex Luthor. He just fits how the character should be played. Best performance since Gene Hackman's.
I assumed the choice of those two was an in-joke for the fans: the two "Lexes" switching places. And what a great punchline when Lex removes his mask to see who the Flash is only to discover that (from Lex's perspective) the Flash is nobody.
Clancy Brown is the man! I remember being terrified of him in Highlander and then loving his voice work in all the cartoons I grew up with. What an awesome dude.

"at least I'll finally know who the Flash is....I have no idea who this is" best line ever!!! such a great interview with Clancy too
Oddly one of the funniest line in Justice league.
🤣
Clancy is still the absolutely, hands down, best Lex Luthor we've had on the screen.
😂
On screen. My guy🤣🤦🏿♂️He only does voice over for cartoons

Love Clancy Brown since Bad Boys. I am a huge fan of his. I always look forward to any movies he is in.
Me too. He scared the fuck out of me as the Viking.

I love how Clancy recalls the episode with glee, I’m glad he’s doing a job he loves!
I have rewatched Venture Bros. several times just for Clancy Brown voicing Red Death. He switches the evil on & off like a light. So good!
I love how a live action Lex Luthor is interviewing an animated Lex Luthor.

“...Beacuse I’m evil!” 🤣🤣🤣
If WB makes a big budget Superman game like the Arkham series, Mr. Brown MUST be Lex Luthor's voice. Period.
I wonder how many times when Clancy meets someone new he is greeted by that person saying "There can be only one'"
It'd be aonther time if i ever met the man.
Top actor!!
I think he would shout “SPONGEBOB ME BOY I LOVE MONEY “ to them a bit more

Love the turtle curtain in the back
Clancy will always be the best Luthor.
Written by Dwayne McDuffie Teleplay by Matt Wayne. Awesome episode
McDuffie was taken way too soon
Honestly, his Lex Luthor has some of the most memorable lines of any show or movie I've ever seen.
I remember him from Earth 2. I'm one of the few people that like said show I think.
I remember liking parts of that show! lol
On the voice of Mr. Crab; Ka-ching.
Clancy is a fantastic actor - Hollywood need to open their eyes and ears!
The brain swap on JLA was one of my favorite episodes of that series.
The movies are full of great supporters and Clancy is a Classic, many memorable roles.
He also voiced Dr. Neo Cortex in Crash Bandicoot 2 Cortex Strikes Back!

That switch episode was great, especially when Lex thinks to take off Flash's mask to see who he really is.
That was one of my favorites.
Such a fun idea and the meta level of the Lex.

I'm very curious about the wall tapestry hanging behind Mr Brown & what it means to him. I use to make pottery in that shape.🐢
Bad Boys came out in 1983 when I was in 9th grade. he did an awesome job in that too
Fun fact: Clancy Brown was Guard Captain Hadley from "The Shawshank Redemption."

I have loved this man since "Bad Boys" , 1983💕
Hilarious when he rang Dr. Fate's helmet like a bell.

Clancy Brown MADE Highlander a great movie. And Michael, you were the best Lex Luthor ever. I didn't recognize you with hair!

Clancy has had a lot of memorable characters, mostly villains because he's imposing. "The Viking", "The Kurgan" etc.

He was great in star wars bounty hunter too

Clancy Brown stole the show in “The Great Brain Robbery”. Such a fun episode

My favorite Lex Luthor
First honest guy in Hollywood
Everyone cites Conroy and Hamill as the foundation of the DCAU but Brown comes in a very close third.
Whenever I hear this man speak, I think of Lex Luthor, the Kurgan and Sgt Charles Zim, in that order. The man deserves to voice Galactus in the MCU.
The flash interviews lex Luthor
Or you could say " Lex Luthor interviews Lex Luthor."
@@Skull1Hunter that works too 😂
That odd time Lex Luther talking to the Flash
It’s hard to beat Gene Hackman but his Lex Luther was so good, it’s right up there.
Clancy would've made a better Thanos than Josh Brolin.
Are you going to wash your hands Flash Lex Luthor??? Flash Lex replies no!!! Because I'm evil😄😄😄😄
Wow I never thought of how they swapped minds in the show was kinda like an Easter egg lol
The late Dwayne McDuffie wrote "The Great Brain Robbery."
He wrote the outline...Matt Wayne wrote the script. The "Because I'm evil." line was Matt's....the setup and situation for the gag was Dwayne.
Easy... because his voice is awesome. Best Lex Luthor ever. And more recently Red Death on Venture Bros.
He's terrific in DEXTER.....
He was Great in Bad Boys

so... how much for voice over?
The Great Brain Robbery was among the funniest in the JLU series.
Screw the "stars;" it's the solid character actors--the supporting cast--that make a movie great.
