That little bit at 10:45 where Arin picks the right answer based solely on the fact that Dan knew the answer was the most brilliant meta-game shit I've seen in a long time.
I had sent Double Dare, CIB, to the Game Grumps back in 2014. I got it for them after they mentioned the show in the first part of their Silent Hill: Shatered Memories let's play back in 2013. Glad to see that they at least enjoyed it.
Fun fact about the term "Donnybrook" Donnybrook is an area in Dublin where, right up from the medieval times to the 20th century, there was this massive fair where people from all over the country would get together, sell their goods, and get plastered drunk. The fair was eventually banned because of the unsavoury activities that went on, especially the drinking and the massive bare-knuckle brawls that would enevitably break out. Now Donnybrook Fair is this fancy-ass grocery chain in Dublin. THE MORE YOU KNOW.
`I don’t think Summers is an angry guy, but he will become one if people continue asking him about his OCD in relation to the experience of being slimed on Double Dare. “It didn’t affect me. It didn’t bother me. It was never ever ever ever ever-and you can never write enough evers-an issue!” Summers continued, “People just want it to be a problem.”` - Little Village Magazine, "Marc Summers interview: Former double dare host remembers the golden age of Nickelodeon"
Dan it’s so awesome how you can be transparent about the difficulty you went through. I had a really hard time when I was younger and felt extremely lost. It’s nice to here how you pulled through and now you’re doing great. I am extremely grateful.
Right! Good ol Alton Brown, he's great. But there was another show on Food Network that specialized on candy that Mark Summer's DID actually do but I dont remember what that show was called
Dan: "Do you remember Double Dare?" Me: No... Dan: "That show with the obstacle courses and the slime and whatnot" Me: *Grasps head with hands bending over and trembling while brain adjusts to the sudden inflow of memories long past. After several minutes rises once more* I do remember. o_o
Does Nickelodeon even use their trademark slime anymore? I can’t remember the last time they used it (unless they do it all the time and I’m just an idiot, which is a fair possibility)
They had a game show called Brainstorm or something five or so years ago. They would slime the winner, that's the most recent time I remember them using it.
www.gamefaqs.com/nes/587236-double-dare/faqs/9202 OH AND ARIN NEXT TIME YOU RUN THE ORBSTACLE CURSE PRESS LEFT LEFT UP DOWN A DOWN LEFT RIGHT RIGHT DOWN TO RUN AND CLIMB YOU IDIOT. IT'S LIKE YOU'VE NEVER PLAYED DOUBLE DARE FOR THE NES.
Yeah. Fucking Grumps. How dare you play something that you all haven't played before. I subscribed to watch ONE MILLION episodes of PM:TTYD. Who cares that I subscribed before they started that series? So what if the new content is still making me l m a o?! I... Am a creature of habit... In fact we deserve a 2nd play through when Danny finishes... Only this time....ARIN PLAYS! Fuck yeah.
8:19 i fucking love mallrats, "a schooner is a sailboat dummy" gets the reply "YOU KNOW WHAT, THERE IS NO EASTER BUNNY! OVER THERE, IT'S JUST A GUY IN A SUIT!"
I used to love this game so much as a kid, too. So I was excited to see how they'd do on the Obstacle Course, impressed Arin figured it out as fast as he did. I thought they'd have a lot of trouble with that. Best I've ever done on this game was reaching the 7th obstacle, I don't know how anybody could ever finish the whole thing though. I tried for years and could never do it.
Oh man, this made me want to watch actual Double Dare so much. I remember playing this as a kid and thinking it was no substitute. That show was amazing. It got you so hyped up about utter nonsense. "You have sixty seconds to throw these pie ingredients across the room into your teammate's wide pants, then they have to use the hula hoop in the waistband to create a pie smoothie! Then you have to pull the chain to dump slime on top!" And then they'd always just go back and calmly answer trivia. It was surreal. I think what was unusual about Double Dare is that there wasn't really a theme. Like, Nickelodeon Guts had a sort of sports arena theme, Nick Arcade was, well, an arcade, Legends of the Hidden Temple had a jungle temple vibe going on, but Double Dare was just the stripped down basics of what Nickelodeon game shows were all about. I like that.
Maybe tomorrow, since it always starts the last week of October and tomorrow will be 7 days until. I had hoped this year we'd get a few extra days since there's no perfect unbroken week leading up to Halloween, but oh well.
Finkster5 Good point, I wasn’t counting Halloween day, and was optimistic to getting a few extra episodes. Hopefully they include something else for the 12pm slot. Cheers
Euginides Gaming lol no. Paper Mario can stay where it is. GG needs more variety. I'm not particularly a fan of PlayStation but I'd like to see them play some PS games. Even if it's old ass PSX or PS2 games, ya know?
I love how Dan mentioned Mallrats. I work in the mall where they filmed Mallrats, and Kevin Smith was here recently just walking around and streaming the whole thing on Facebook.
I might be 3 years late, but that Gershwin question was a pretty big brain move. Process of elimination by knowing that if dan knows it, it has to be something he's interested in. Top-notch.
No joke, I watched a bunch of Double Dare a few months ago after getting the Nick Game Shows DVD. The show still holds up very, very well. I even put the theme in my MP3 Player. Oh, that electric guitar goodness.
He was! He obligingly took the photo with me. I'm going to hypothesize that he was there possibly to pitch his new Nickelodeon show "What Would You Do?" which hit the air the next year. However, I have no evidence to support this.
Joseph Romeo I saw another comment thread asking the same thing, and someone said that it may start tomorrow since it's a full week before Halloween, so hopefully it's tomorrow.
I kinda would want them to play creepy games because hearing their screams is kinda fun and makes watching a scary game much more pleasant as i am a big wuss whose only horror experiences come from bram stoker's dracula and edgar allan poe.
I used to and still sometimes find myself playing this game because my NES has only a few games where I actually like playing them. This just makes me laugh every time.
Am I the only one who has no idea what's going on in every game show based game they play? I mean I do get what's going on, but at the same time I feel like I don't.
We learned about south and Central American geography in my Latin American studies class not too long ago, and when Danny didn’t know where the Andes mountains were I was laughing, not only at him, but at the fact that I would’ve also guessed Europe until I started taking that class xD
Mark Summers graduated from North Central High School in Indiana. I attended there for a few years in the mid 2000's. His photo is on a wall, nearby the library.
I only had a few NES games growing up: Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda . . . . . . . and Double Dare! So many hours played. Why oh why did I have this game? That Gorilla game is one of the hardest minigames in the game. no joke.
All I remember from this show is the host guy would get so hyped for physical challenges. It'd be like "Ok Jones family, whats your choice?..... Uh huh....okay... AND ITS TIME FOR A PHYSICAAAL CHALEEEEEENGE!!!!!!"
That little bit at 10:45 where Arin picks the right answer based solely on the fact that Dan knew the answer was the most brilliant meta-game shit I've seen in a long time.
“Wait, if you know it... then...”
That moment makes me smile
"it was worth losing just to watch you fucking embarrass yourself" -true friendship
I had sent Double Dare, CIB, to the Game Grumps back in 2014. I got it for them after they mentioned the show in the first part of their Silent Hill: Shatered Memories let's play back in 2013. Glad to see that they at least enjoyed it.
Vitas Varnas you’re a super star man, sent them so much great stuff. Hope you know the fans appreciate it as much as they do.
Apparently they didn’t enjoy the instruction manual. Thank you anyway for your meritorious service. How many games have you sent them over the years?

Seeing Dan's character just chucking bananas full speed against the wall was great.
The greatest achievement I've ever had was getting slimmed at Nikelodeon stuidios when I was ten.
Dan it’s so awesome how you can be transparent about the difficulty you went through. I had a really hard time when I was younger and felt extremely lost. It’s nice to here how you pulled through and now you’re doing great. I am extremely grateful.
Why is Matt in the thumbnail?
TheBeardedFellow Stop this.
Remember Nickelodeon Guts ?!
Its fucking Nickelodeon Guts on SNES!
Oh, I member!
You mean friendship ender 2000?
Its like if we played fucking baseball together and i was like whats the third base mean and you said oh im not gonna tell you it wouldnt be fair
Its not the same
Thank you Dan for talking about OCD, it really makes me feel better knowing I wasn’t the only one going through this
no, you 2 are the only people in the world who have OCD.
"Triangles are everywhere, Arin!"
For some reason, made me laugh more than it should have.
Mark Summers didn't do Good Eats, that was Alton Brown.
Right! Good ol Alton Brown, he's great. But there was another show on Food Network that specialized on candy that Mark Summer's DID actually do but I dont remember what that show was called
@@MerkhVision Unwrapped!
Im a year late but that was bugging me. Scoped the comments to see if anyone said it. Good on ya.
Holy shit Dan is starting to say "Gottim" like Arnold
7:44 for reference
eddie囍 Its actually pronounced "GOTIIII"
B Sully true, at least that’s how Arin says it
That’s what happens when you hang out with someone for days on end whose obsessed with saying it
His name's not Arnold
It's Greg
Legends of the Hidden Temple vs Double Dare: Dawn of Outdated Nickelodeon Game Shows
What about Figure It Out?
Gabriella River Never seen that one
What about Guts on SNES?
MegaAnimazing Now that one I remember
Hidden temple was better imo
Dan: "Do you remember Double Dare?"
Me: No...
Dan: "That show with the obstacle courses and the slime and whatnot"
Me: *Grasps head with hands bending over and trembling while brain adjusts to the sudden inflow of memories long past. After several minutes rises once more*
I do remember. o_o
"That's it?" "There's no finale?" And... obstacle course. Arin learns to never ask that question again.
Does Nickelodeon even use their trademark slime anymore? I can’t remember the last time they used it (unless they do it all the time and I’m just an idiot, which is a fair possibility)
I am pretty sure they just use it every annual Nickelodeon award show.
Can you not ok that’s what I thought
They had a game show called Brainstorm or something five or so years ago. They would slime the winner, that's the most recent time I remember them using it.
FoneyBone1 It was called BrainSurge and it was cancelled in 2011.
Now Nickelodeon only HIRES slime, then cancels their shows when they get pregnant or arrested with drugs.
When dan asked Arin “HOW DO YOU DO IT” I could feel Arin sweating and reliving his Nickelodeon guts past.
Arins "WHAT DO I DO?!?" moments are to fucking die for lol
Banana Simulator 2017
This is a weird episode of Chuck E Cheese's Sports Games
Edit: Why the fuck does this have so many likes?
*Paper Mario, the dog island, A Link between Worlds...
funny funny comment
Glad you picked the best MHA character
Weird? It's perfect!
*I A M F R I E N D D O G*
I was eating my food and I belched right when Arin did, and I felt us have a connection for a moment.
That's beautiful
Where the fuck is [OTHER SERIES] I'm so sick of you providing me with constantly fresh content.
YA, AND EVERY TIME ARIN MESSES UP (plays the way i dont like), IT MAKES ME MAD THAT HES A UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL WITH A DIFFERENT PLAYING STYLE THEN MINE
www.gamefaqs.com/nes/587236-double-dare/faqs/9202
OH AND ARIN NEXT TIME YOU RUN THE ORBSTACLE CURSE PRESS LEFT LEFT UP DOWN A DOWN LEFT RIGHT RIGHT DOWN TO RUN AND CLIMB YOU IDIOT. IT'S LIKE YOU'VE NEVER PLAYED DOUBLE DARE FOR THE NES.
I have a opinion
Yeah. Fucking Grumps. How dare you play something that you all haven't played before. I subscribed to watch ONE MILLION episodes of PM:TTYD. Who cares that I subscribed before they started that series? So what if the new content is still making me l m a o?! I... Am a creature of habit... This is why youtube needs a love option
I fucking love that Arin gets questions about mountain ranges and shit and then Danny is over there like "WHAT IS A COOKIE"
answer: delicious
You got it
The epic showdown of Fuggsy and Buttston!
This whole episode was worth it just to watch that obstacle course
So sad Arin has no experience hitting targets with cantaloupes. Danny should've stayed behind and showed him how.
Arin's Marc Summers laugh gets me everytime.
Woah! Dan had OCD?! I feel so much less weird
Fin Cohen Yeah dude! If you want to know more in depth about it go to their Wind Waker playthrough part 19, its amazing
8:19 i fucking love mallrats, "a schooner is a sailboat dummy" gets the reply "YOU KNOW WHAT, THERE IS NO EASTER BUNNY! OVER THERE, IT'S JUST A GUY IN A SUIT!"
I love seeing Dan win games because I feel like Arin tries a lot harder, and actually games more.
Holy cow this is the earliest I’ve ever been to a video let alone a Game Grumps one.
Oh man, this made me want to watch actual Double Dare so much. I remember playing this as a kid and thinking it was no substitute. That show was amazing. It got you so hyped up about utter nonsense. "You have sixty seconds to throw these pie ingredients across the room into your teammate's wide pants, then they have to use the hula hoop in the waistband to create a pie smoothie! and now they ruined it by asking black panther and minecraft questions.
Look at all those "10 dollar" questions!
Now THIS is the kind of banana throwing action I subscribed for!
I just wanted to say that Danny is a beautiful person, bye
A Boy yes, Dan is bootiful
Tell me something we don't know
I do not like the opinion you have
So is Arin.
Danny said he would use "Buttston Freem" from space quest and he did! I'm proud of him!
Where the fuck is Ghoul Grumps?
Maybe closer to halloween...?
It's always the week before so that doesn't really make sense
Usually starts 26th
Maybe tomorrow, since it always starts the last week of October and tomorrow will be 7 days until. I had hoped this year we'd get a few extra days since there's no perfect unbroken week leading up to Halloween, but oh well.
Finkster5 Good point, I wasn’t counting Halloween day, and was optimistic to getting a few extra episodes. Hopefully they include something else for the 12pm slot. Cheers
The best is Arin when it starts scrolling the obstacles, “oh...wow...oh no...oh GOD...OH WHY?!...OH NOT THE TUBE!”
I double dare you guys to finish paper Mario 😐
Or whatever you want, I’m always fine with that too 😛
Euginides Gaming lol no. Paper Mario can stay where it is. GG needs more variety. I'm not particularly a fan of PlayStation but I'd like to see them play some PS games. Even if it's old ass PSX or PS2 games, ya know?
They will take the physical challenge...
You can't just lead with a fucking double dare like that this is a civilized nation and i would like it to stay that way
I love how Dan mentioned Mallrats. I work in the mall where they filmed Mallrats, and Kevin Smith was here recently just walking around and streaming the whole thing on Facebook.
Dan and Arnold, I Double Dare you to:
*[Insert dare here]*
Finish a series.
be good at games
Pyrodragon3993 suck him off 10:14
"LOTS of things are triangles, Arin!"
I like the part were he make the funny.
Your an Oney Plays fan to i take it?
Funny scream.
So you disliked the video I reckon?
I remember watching Double Dare 2000 a lot on Nickelodeon! Those old original game shows on Nick were awesome.
I always want Dan to win these. Am I alone?
Dee Oh Dee You are not.
I always want arin to win.
I don't care who wins :)
Usually, but I was rooting for arin on this one
Dee Oh Dee Oh, totally. Arin can be such a dick. I love it when Dan takes him down a peg.
"Aaaaaaand George Girshwin delivers his signature move- "The Porgy"!!!!! Aaron Copland is down for the count!!!!"
Is it just me or have they played a game _wildly_ similar to this before?
I had that same feeling of Deja Vu.. Weird!
Yeah it was during the jon era
GUTS was this but without the trivia, I'm pretty sure.
we don't speak of that
The graphics reminded me of that MTV Remote Control game they played. That one looked much uglier though.
I might be 3 years late, but that Gershwin question was a pretty big brain move. Process of elimination by knowing that if dan knows it, it has to be something he's interested in. Top-notch.
So they didn't announce who won, how am I supposed to know who won?
TGX Game Reviews Arin won
Duuuuude, this game was so much of my childhood
I'm really surprised that neither of them made the obvious joke when they came across "Philatelist."
Yeah, I was a little disappointed in them lol
No joke, I watched a bunch of Double Dare a few months ago after getting the Nick Game Shows DVD. The show still holds up very, very well. I even put the theme in my MP3 Player. Oh, that electric guitar goodness.
GG playin DD
12:15 I like how Arin yells in celebration of catching the cake before he catches it. RIP audio sync 2015 - 2016 (Kevin).
I LOVE YOU DANNY!
Good Eats is Alton Browns show, Unwrapped is what Arin was looking for. I loved both shows!
#TeamDanny
Joseph Cyronder #teamninjaaudrey
Fun fact.... I actually met Marc Summers and had my picture taken with him at Universal Studios in California during June of 1991.
Was he a cool dude?
He was! He obligingly took the photo with me. I'm going to hypothesize that he was there possibly to pitch his new Nickelodeon show "What Would You Do?" which hit the air the next year. However, I have no evidence to support this.
GG fans: can the grumps get any worst games than chuckie cheese ?
GG: Hold my beer
what are you talking about? this game was awesome.
1:28. Their reaction to the creepy gorilla. 🤣
David fucking Wise did the music for this!?
I want to say it is indeed THE David fucking Wise, since Chris Stamper's in the credits, too.
From this to fucking Donkey Kong Country and Conker...what a career
I burped right before Arin did in the video, so when I heard him I felt the type of comradery you need in friends :D
*high five*
surprised arin is willing to do this after nickolodeon guts on snes
Omg this is like Nickelodeon Guts all over again... xD
Thanks for the episode, Grumps!
Ghoul Grumps?
Joseph Romeo I saw another comment thread asking the same thing, and someone said that it may start tomorrow since it's a full week before Halloween, so hopefully it's tomorrow.
gamefan6219 didn't they skip Valentine's Day this year too? I really hope they don't off Ghoul Grumps /:
Arin's double burp at 11:30 gives me life lmao
I kinda would want them to play creepy games because hearing their screams is kinda fun and makes watching a scary game much more pleasant as i am a big wuss whose only horror experiences come from bram stoker's dracula and edgar allan poe.
sampo kaplas agreed, I hate being scared but love seeing other people scared
First enjoyable episode of game grumps in a long time
I double dare you to complete the Cuphead playthrough
I used to and still sometimes find myself playing this game because my NES has only a few games where I actually like playing them. This just makes me laugh every time.
I think when people go "Mmmm" when drinking is pretty annoying...just finish drinking then talk
H... Hold on. Hold on, I gotta pick up the bananas on the ground.
JesseRoxII you mean offada ground
Am I the only one who has no idea what's going on in every game show based game they play? I mean I do get what's going on, but at the same time I feel like I don't.
Same
Different
you missed out :(
Well you aren't alone there
Its because they cover various facts and it makes your brain feel more scattered and active
We learned about south and Central American geography in my Latin American studies class not too long ago, and when Danny didn’t know where the Andes mountains were I was laughing, not only at him, but at the fact that I would’ve also guessed Europe until I started taking that class xD
Paper mario
Mark Summers wasn’t the host of Good Eats, that was Alton Brown. But he did have a show on food Network
American school system
I've said it all
Can't wait for an animated of this
How does this game have questions that a fucking kindergartener would know, and then "What is a fucking MANITOU?!" Like, are you shitting me?
This is the best episode they've done in ages.
Wait this isn't paper mario
Jonh Productions so glad it's not.
Cringe
I'm from Brazil and I'm so glad they got the language right! I die a little bit everytime people say "Spanish" or "Brazilian"
philatelist: someone who collects bjs.
Loved the last-second call-back to the Sonic and the Black Knight play-through numerology joke.
I am petitioning to have Dan play Kingdom Hearts while Arin watches and silently cringes. I will post this every day until it happens. (Day 14)
This one goes out to all the people who throw a fit whenever the grumps quit playing what they want for an episode or two.
MOAR CUPHEAD PLPLPZLPZLPLZZLLZLZLZZZ
10:51 That's gotta be one of Arin's biggest big brain boy moves I've ever witnessed on game grumps.
I'm sooo glad they went back and played a Game Show game. It's just like years ago!
Mark Summers graduated from North Central High School in Indiana. I attended there for a few years in the mid 2000's. His photo is on a wall, nearby the library.
Donkey Kong Country? Please, this is Wise's finest work.
ACTUALLY. Marc Summers went on to host Unwrapped and then he was on that episode of Worksholics. Alton Brown was the one on Good Eats. Best show.
I'm so glad I've been watching the game show game grumps vs and now we're here
I'm always so amused when you guys still do the "the money is mine"
I only had a few NES games growing up: Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda . . . . . . . and Double Dare! So many hours played. Why oh why did I have this game? That Gorilla game is one of the hardest minigames in the game. no joke.
All I remember from this show is the host guy would get so hyped for physical challenges.
It'd be like "Ok Jones family, whats your choice?..... Uh huh....okay... AND ITS TIME FOR A PHYSICAAAL CHALEEEEEENGE!!!!!!"
