Honestly a lot closer than I expected. A friend of mine just asked for me to spec him a budget build (1080p), and it wasn't possible to fit a 6700xt in due to them being around £100 more, so I had to tell him to get a 7600 and felt kind of bad. This makes me feel much better about the decision. Hopefully he will just have to turn down texture settings to high in the more demanding games.
