It was Canada who sold old Sea Furies to Cuba. The CIA told Kennedy, "Don't worry about their Air Force. They only have a few old prop fighter planes." Those dudes going in with B-25's and 26's to provide air cover got smeared. So much for US intel.
@fairclought7 I was certainly shooting down migs, but that might have something to do with the fact Migs didn't have oxygen. Sea Fury is magnificent anyway.
Partly. The Fury could out turn the Migs below 20,000. No good above that altitude. I can't believe they didn't have oxygen, but if they didn't, then their ceiling for pilot safety would have been about 10,000 tops.
the fury/sea fury is probably the best piston engined fighter ever built, it shot down MIG 15s in korea.
I enjoyed this. Thanks for posting.
Great cockpit tour.
Very interesting film. Thanks for posting. Nice that it has its original Centaurus.
It doesn't!
No cartridge starter though.
Fantastic video. Thanks!
I used to look after this aircraft at the Southend Historic aircraft museum. Does anyone know where she is now?
great video. greetings from brazil...
You guys should put a link to your website from the "more info". It will get your website way more views.
Cuban Air Force used them to great effect to defeat the "bay of pigs" invasion. It seems that it would indeed be faster then a P-51

Incredibly simple I panel compared to a Douglas Skyraider =for= sure.
What a beautiful Aircraft. I'd step over my own mother to take the controls of the Sea Fury.

@fairclought7 ... come on be real .... for speed , manuverabilty fire power and the most well known fighter aircraft ... its gotta be the spitfire
Nope! Wrong.
You know nothing. Even the last modified Spit (Mark 24) couldn't catch a Sea Fury. The closet was the Grumman F9.
