But it *IS* still really nice, and I'm glad that they were so open/honest about the fact that they just changed the amount of fate points. Yes, the stream was likely still scripted, but it did feel a lot more natural. Overall, it was pretty good.

The Capturing Radiance effectively just makes the banner rate 55/45. The way it works is that you have a 50/50 that you lose, it will roll a 1/10 chance for a Capturing Radiance to override the lost 50/50. So, the net chance to get the rate up character is 55/45. Not a big change, but at least better than before.
I'm not too surprised to be honest, they've always saved big updates and QoL for when a new Region is added, partly to help with Hype and I assume it makes implementing the code easier by putting everything in one big update. HSR and ZZZ being newer games with less legacy code to work with (and not being Open World) are obviously easier to update and will inevitably receive certain functions or mechanics first, but it's just a matter of time before they arrive in Genshin too.
This is not just a technical thing bro. The entire livestream had a huge emphasis on player feedback. Like actually take a shot every time you read the word "feedback" in that livestream.

Those are both valid points but the simple matter of it is stubbornness, one of the leaders in charge of Genshin Impact, who I believe was either the head of Mihoyo, or a major share-holder, was noritious for running the games he commandeered very strictly, once his grip released over HI3rd, the game became very welcoming and generous, just as HSR has been from the start, and notably, it never had his influence at any point. Genshin has had his grubby little hands over it the entire time, meaning these changes were practically impossible, it must have been a very genuine and serious uphill battle to fight a corporate overlord who wants to milk every player dry, because it took 4 years of ignoring (and they definitely heard people's cries up till that point), 3 new competitors with better mechanics + active feedback acknowledgment, and a variety of whales quitting, for anything to happen.

A bit of correction about weapon banner. With just one fate point, genshin banner is actually better in most situations. One fate point means that you just have to get 1 weapon that you didn't choose to guarantee. So rather than losing 50/50 and get standard banner weapon, you can lose 50/50 to the other banner weapon and still get the guarantee for your weapon.
What i also like from this is that it feels like they're making it easier to strengthen our characters to introduce harder endgame in the future. That's just my speculation tho
It's too late tbh, late game players who have been playing for 2+ years are not being appreciated by devs. 4 YEARS for a standard selector, this has already been done by other games earlier and better. For genshin this is huge sure, but if we compare this to other gacha's it's not so special considering this game has been out for about 4 years. the 5 star selector might seem underwhelming because its standard banner 5 stars but its a Big W for my wishless account and for the rare wishless players out there. having more QOL is always appreciated but statistically even if we can craft an artifact with double crit lines it's still gonna roll into Flat HP or DEF%, it's a nice change regardless though. Rumor is more characters are gonna be added to the standard banner as well and if thats the case i think its time every 1.0 limited character gets retired to the standard banner, losing a pity to a character like Klee or Albedo or maybe even Ganyu or Turtlduckia would be pretty cool , and if they still wanted to promote said characters they could do chronicled wish again and I think that would be fine.
this has been said SO many times in the past four years but we will NEVER get one of the limited characters for free, nor can they be moved to the standard banner. it’s against chinese gambling laws to say a character (or anything else gambling related) is limited, get people to spend money to gamble on it, and then turn around and give it out for free. the only reason we got tighnari and dehya as a limited banner first before they were moved to standard is because it was specifically stated that they would be moving to the standard banner once their limited banner was done. so because none of the prior characters were ever given that kind of disclaimer in the past, hoyo cannot legally give any of those characters out for free edit: just wanted to add on that the reason the chronicled banner (as you mentioned) exists is because this is the closest they can get to putting the old characters on standard.
Weapon banner is BETTER than star rail now. If you lose the 50-50 in star rail you get standard banner weapon, if you lose it in genshin you have 33% chance to get a limited weapon still. For example, if I roll for Moulani's weapon and lose, i still might get Kazuha's which is a really good limited weapon. Sure the fate point doesn't carry over or the next banner, but I personally don't roll for weapon if I'm not planning on getting it 100% so the carry over doesn't affect me.

Obsidian Codex 2-Piece Set: While the equipping character is in Nightsoul's Blessing and is on the field, their DMG dealt is increased by 15%. 4-Piece Set: After the equipping character consumes 1 Nightsoul point while on the field, CRIT Rate increases by 40% for 6s. This effect can trigger once every second.
So if I remember correctly, Kachina, Mualani and Kinich all show resources unique to *only their specific Tribe Region* on the map, meaning Kachina won't show resources of Mualani's tribe and vice-versa. So yeah, kinda restrictive imo.
The artifact thing is honestly a godsend, especially since it's really difficult to get your hands on an Elemental Mastery piece, though I'd probably have a Pyro Damage Bonus + CRIT sub stat Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy goblet just to buff my Arlecchino. But the thing I think we're honestly glossing over is that we might get more 5 stars on the standard banner, which we honestly need especially in the Geo department

Having an actual competition like Wuwa really made Hoyo step their shit up. This is why Genshin dominance on this sort of gacha market is bad, since they can do anything they want. With Wuwa on the mix, they have to actually think about the majority and not just the whale. Thank you Kurogames. I've quit the game ever since Sumeru first dropped, and only log on occasionally to check mails and unlock waypoint in Fontaine. (Yes, I haven't done any of Sumeru main quest and I've unlocked the majority of fontaine lol). This update might be the update for me to actually give Genshin another shot.

I was personally mostly fine with the rng artifacts since its long term thing, but I was hoping for some kinda pity mechanic that helps us get one that's at least close to what we want... this seems better than what I would've ever expected
@6:39 - Hmm.......this just looks like a re-skin version of the goldfish zipping around mechanics in Chenyu Vale. I would be more excited if there is something like a wingsuit race through crevices between mountain rocks (not the on-rail type of race usually presented in Genshin Impact but a high speed free-form race through checkpoints). However, the shark-ride design of Mualani does look cool and the toy top ride of Kachina looks really cute. Since there are lava in Natlan, if there are combat mechanics related to lava that will be great. Like for example, casting hydro spell onto a lava creates hot steam which either blocks vision or causes damage when zips through......or, having a pyro character who is able to cast lava tsunami but fails to hurt pyro shielded enemies. However, with a swap of a cyro character whose AOE cyro skill turns the lava tsunami into a huge chunk of rushing geo rock which crushes those pyro immune enemies. In other words, a pyro skill + a cryo skill turns into a geo skill and buffed by Gorou - just a dream anyway.
By the way you can see the first new artifact set in the segment where they talk about the sanctifiying elixir (11:17). It seems literally like Marrechausse for only Natlan characters. Unless they pull a Furina and how she allows anyone to use Marrechausse they could always make Mavuika give non-natlan characters Nightsoul Blessings

it changes the probability to 55/45 i believe, bc if you lose the 50/50 the mechanic kicks in to give you a 10% (I think) chance of winning instead. if that makes sense lol. it only kicks in if ur initially losing it, but overall that doesn't matter it rly just increases probability ! also someone tell me if I'm wrong on this hahaha

I think you can't actually "save" the selector. From my understanding it's exactly like Lantern Rite 4* selector: only available for 1 patch and you choose a character in a special event tab. I might be wrong, but I did read that it'll be "temporarily available during 5.0 update", so I assume that's how it'll be.

Rumor is more characters are gonna be added to the standard banner as well and if thats the case i think its time every 1.0 limited character gets retired to the standard banner, losing a pity to a character like Klee or Albedo or maybe even Ganyu or Turtlduckia would be pretty cool , and if they still wanted to promote said characters they could do chronicled wish again and I think that would be fine.

this has been said SO many times in the past four years but we will NEVER get one of the limited characters for free, nor can they be moved to the standard banner. it’s against chinese gambling laws to say a character (or anything else gambling related) is limited, get people to spend money to gamble on it, and then turn around and give it out for free.
the only reason we got tighnari and dehya as a limited banner first before they were moved to standard is because it was specifically stated that they would be moving to the standard banner once their limited banner was done. so because none of the prior characters were ever given that kind of disclaimer in the past, hoyo cannot legally give any of those characters out for free
edit: just wanted to add on that the reason the chronicled banner (as you mentioned) exists is because this is the closest they can get to putting the old characters on standard.

Weapon banner is BETTER than star rail now.
If you lose the 50-50 in star rail you get standard banner weapon, if you lose it in genshin you have 33% chance to get a limited weapon still.
For example, if I roll for Moulani's weapon and lose, i still might get Kazuha's which is a really good limited weapon. Sure the fate point doesn't carry over or the next banner, but I personally don't roll for weapon if I'm not planning on getting it 100% so the carry over doesn't affect me.

2-Piece Set: While the equipping character is in Nightsoul's Blessing and is on the field, their DMG dealt is increased by 15%.
4-Piece Set: After the equipping character consumes 1 Nightsoul point while on the field, CRIT Rate increases by 40% for 6s. This effect can trigger once every second.
So if I remember correctly, Kachina, Mualani and Kinich all show resources unique to *only their specific Tribe Region* on the map, meaning Kachina won't show resources of Mualani's tribe and vice-versa. So yeah, kinda restrictive imo.

The artifact thing is honestly a godsend, especially since it's really difficult to get your hands on an Elemental Mastery piece, though I'd probably have a Pyro Damage Bonus + CRIT sub stat Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy goblet just to buff my Arlecchino. But the thing I think we're honestly glossing over is that we might get more 5 stars on the standard banner, which we honestly need especially in the Geo department
I've been on break from Genshin for a bit but that artifact transmuter ALONE is enough to bring me back. building characters is going to be so much less painful now

Having an actual competition like Wuwa really made Hoyo step their shit up. This is why Genshin dominance on this sort of gacha market is bad, since they can do anything they want. With Wuwa on the mix, they have to actually think about the majority and not just the whale. Thank you Kurogames.
I've quit the game ever since Sumeru first dropped, and only log on occasionally to check mails and unlock waypoint in Fontaine. (Yes, I haven't done any of Sumeru main quest and I've unlocked the majority of fontaine lol). This update might be the update for me to actually give Genshin another shot.
Yeah its great timing because honestly this new Wuwa patch had 0 content and the upcoming characters all look pretty underwhelming to me. Hopefully kuro gets its shit together and fixes their buggy ass game and adds endgame content finally...

@6:39 - Hmm.......this just looks like a re-skin version of the goldfish zipping around mechanics in Chenyu Vale. I would be more excited if there is something like a wingsuit race through crevices between mountain rocks (not the on-rail type of race usually presented in Genshin Impact but a high speed free-form race through checkpoints).
However, the shark-ride design of Mualani does look cool and the toy top ride of Kachina looks really cute.
Since there are lava in Natlan, if there are combat mechanics related to lava that will be great. Like for example, casting hydro spell onto a lava creates hot steam which either blocks vision or causes damage when zips through......or, having a pyro character who is able to cast lava tsunami but fails to hurt pyro shielded enemies. However, with a swap of a cyro character whose AOE cyro skill turns the lava tsunami into a huge chunk of rushing geo rock which crushes those pyro immune enemies. In other words, a pyro skill + a cryo skill turns into a geo skill and buffed by Gorou - just a dream anyway.
By the way you can see the first new artifact set in the segment where they talk about the sanctifiying elixir (11:17).
It seems literally like Marrechausse for only Natlan characters. Unless they pull a Furina and how she allows anyone to use Marrechausse they could always make Mavuika give non-natlan characters Nightsoul Blessings

If the supply of Sanctifying Elixirs will be as limited as it appears to be so far, the Artifact Transmuter will be Crystalfly Trap-tier, honestly. Yes, it shaves off one layer of RNG, but your perfect double-crit on-set goblet will roll into flat DEF most of the time anyway.
If they add an endgame content like the one they did on character trial run where the environment really matter. Oh boy that will be so fun
The news feels like it's still haven't settled in for me yet, it's been 4 FCKING YEARS and we're finally treated like they're listening and they EXPLICITLY SAID the more you're voicing your complaints the more they're inclined to listen so whenever ppl said the devs would never listen they literally proved u wrong so I don't want to hear that shit anymore, and if u bring up the boycott just stop playing and keep complaining don't complain and still play the game then it shows you're not boycotting correctly. But literally all I want now is artifact loadouts, resin overflow, talents/weapon materials available everyday and I'm pretty set with Genshin cuz at that point the game is peak. Add Windtrace, Labyrinth Warriors, Hypostatic Symphony, and Vagabond as endgame and I'm telling u no other Hoyo game could top Genshin.

I took breaks and was mad frustrated from the game as well multiple times and I remember ppl stop doing the feedback since they never gave us anything we've wanted, the fact even the CN government called them out is still insane to me like just stop neglecting your playerbase who helps u make money. I still think some players still aren't coming back but other players are coming back or at least thinking to give it another chance, I even remember saying Fontaine saved them once, if they don't get their shit together by Natlan then the game would lose alot more players than before especially since the livestream was also around anniversary.
it changes the probability to 55/45 i believe, bc if you lose the 50/50 the mechanic kicks in to give you a 10% (I think) chance of winning instead. if that makes sense lol. it only kicks in if ur initially losing it, but overall that doesn't matter it rly just increases probability ! also someone tell me if I'm wrong on this hahaha

I think you can't actually "save" the selector. From my understanding it's exactly like Lantern Rite 4* selector: only available for 1 patch and you choose a character in a special event tab. I might be wrong, but I did read that it'll be "temporarily available during 5.0 update", so I assume that's how it'll be.
