I’ve lived here over 35 years now. Watching the food scene blow up over the last 10 years has been amazing! Tracy’s was literally a shack in the beginning. Her crab bisque (not lobster) took either 1st or 2nd in a Boston chowder event way back in the beginning. Chef Beau at Boca is a James Beard nominee and 2015 winner at the Great American Seafood Cook-off. Beau and his crew do some really creative things. V, from V’s Cellar door is a good friend. She even ran the bbq at our wedding. The Fusion Nachos have ruined ordering nachos anywhere else, and you can now buy her Fusion Sauce in a bottle. It’s amazing on everything, but my favorite is any rice or potato dish. Gold Creek Salmon Bake is a fun place for us to take visitors, particularly on nice days like you had. Looks like you were here in the spring, which is my favorite time of year.
Juneau is the most beautiful city on the planet. I will never leave here. Thank you Mikey for coming to Juneau and sharing my city to the world. I am proud to have been born and raised here.
@@duketogo7744 I’d give it 7-10 days. Lots of trails, restaurants, and sight seeing there. It’s not a place to rush your trip. I was born and raised there.
@@mikeymutual5489 it’s a city, hence the name, City and Borough of Juneau. Also, Alaskans travel a lot. Most high school groups travel south every season and a lot of kids attend things like athletic or performing arts camps in the northwest. I tell people that at birth, every kid in Juneau gets a birth certificate and an Alaska Airlines mileage account. When @ZinnAlpha said they’d never leave, they likely meant they wouldn’t move.
Juneau is the town where I grew up! Looks a bit different now. The glacier is so small.😢 I worked at that tourist trap Salmon Bake place and the Silverbow, which had a bagel shop at the time.
No.1 love the knowledge that a touch of filipino influence has made it to some of the dishes you featured No.2 love seeing you rockin' a Hurley shirt,,,
The first time we had the Salmon Bake in Juneau, the salmons were cross-cut with the bones in the middle section. IMHO... this tastes much better than the boneless 'filet' cut.. The last time, several years ago, we were also served the 'filet' cut. I'm guessing the change was due to most diners prefer salmon without bones. We visited Alaska many more times but haven't returned to the Salmon bake.
I live in Ketchikan and yes, SE Alaska has a huge Filipino population, which translates to really good food! Many families moved here after working in the canneries int he 40s and 50s.
Grew up in Juneau :) nice to see it in the algorithm, been gone for 18yrs now though, moved to Anchorage to raise my kiddo and chase my chef dreams, that water is definitely cleaner than any other cities water lol, comes right from the icefields that the Mendenhall Glacier is connected too
Trust me you aren’t missing out on much in Anchorage 👍 I appreciate you trying the best of Alaska! If you do ever come to Anchorage though the place I recommend you start is moose’s tooth it’s got the best smoked salmon dip and yummy pizza! Thanks again for coming to Alaska! ❤️
Wow, what a beautiful place!!! I've been wanting to get out of rut for years, and I enjoy colder weather over hot..this looks like a happy medium to me. I don't mind darkness, I don't mind subzero temps. I hear it's expensive, so maybe a retirement thing? Lol. I wonder how they treat veterans there😊
Welcome to Alaska. If you are used to farm raised salmon sockeye wild is quite the experience. This and King are the best, but you’re right, shouldn’t be overcooked
I was born and raised in Soldotna. Great food all across Alaska. There was a pizza joint in Soldotna, forget the name but damn..........till this day it is still one of the best pizza joints i have ever had.
Pro tips: 1. It’s crab bisque; there are no lobster in Alaska. 2. Never overcook sockeye salmon, rare is best, medium at most. Otherwise been watching you forever Mike! Love your show!
i live in Alaska and Sockeye is my Fav and it's never dry when i cook it mine is usually super fatty and savory only use butter salt and pepper and lemon but not to much
Love me some Coho, and I am bummed I didn't get to see you while you were here. Been watching for years, this is my work account, but my personal account has been subscribed to you for a long time now.
I want to visit Alaska so bad. Until then though I'm going on a cruise in the Mediterranean this summer. Split in Croatia, the Greek isles including Mykonos, followed by Venice, Ravenna, and Rome.
"Yeah here you can make your own s'mores over a campfire" I didn't see any s'more, there was no chocolate or graham cracker. The marshmallow wasn't even toasted.
This would be my ultimate meal of a lifetime. I lived on the Maine coast for 3 years a long time ago and ate fresh fish and lobster just caught from the sea 3-4 times a week. Those meals were pure Heaven for me.
Let’s get your drinks of choice ready for the “umami” drinking game!!! Large chug/small shot for each time Mike says “umami”!!! First drink comes before 1:00 so grab a few drinks y’all!!!😂😂😂 Edit: Did I miss any because he only said it once.
Everybody in the comments complaining about the prices… this is just what Alaska is like. Our food is a lot more expensive than yours are unless we catch it or grow it ourselves. These places are charging normal prices for Alaska. Anchorage and Fairbanks are a little cheaper but most of the state just deals with it. These prices are nothing compared to the Bush, too.
I have lived in Juneau most of my life and have never went to the salmon bake! Thinking of trying it out next time, but I try to avoid all the tourists lol.
Hi Mike , how do you keep healthy after eating that much seafood. My parent told me if you eat too much seafood you will have gout later in life. I love seafood myself but I’m worry about gout and other health issue. Maybe you can share some information about eating that’s much food and still keep healthy.
Only 24 hours in Alaska? Geez, I can't imagine going all the way up there just to spend a day. (I know that's kind of a trend on the channel, but still...)

how long would you recommend a person stay when they visit, to experience all of Juneau? it does look absolutely beautiful out there.
If you've never left Juneau, how do you know that it is the most beautiful city? By the way, Juneau is not a city, but a small town.
@@mikeymutual5489far from the most beautiful city. It’s small and has its own character but that’s about it. You go out and see more of the world.
@@duketogo7744 I’d give it 7-10 days. Lots of trails, restaurants, and sight seeing there. It’s not a place to rush your trip. I was born and raised there.

Thanks for coming though to the crab shack it was awesome getting to meet you after watching your vids for years 🤙🏽🙏🏽
King crab in the lobster bisque! What a crabby day! And I just like Mike about the salmon, the fatter the better and tastier.
💯💯💯💯✅✅✅
No.1 love the knowledge that a touch of filipino influence has made it to some of the dishes you featured No.2 love seeing you rockin' a Hurley shirt,,,
Looks like such a gorgeous place, it's definitely on my bucket list. Someday I will get there😊
I always make the tomato rice in the rice cooker that you made a video about years and years ago. You'll always have a special place in my heart
That cauliflower dish looked amazing , I’d love to try it
The first time we had the Salmon Bake in Juneau,

I never realized how short Mike was until the King Crab clip. He’s like Dang it’s Wayne’s height.
Who
The aesthetics of the salmon bake are exquisite!! Wholesome and tasty food too!! I'd love to experience that someday 😍
I live in Ketchikan and yes, SE Alaska has a huge Filipino population, which translates to really good food! Many families moved here after working in the canneries int he 40s and 50s.
Miss Juneau, grew up there. Owner of that bbq place is my bestie!
I thought the pasta dish looked so good. Yum to the crab and lobster bisque

Bro eats a mountain of nachos and says “ok I gotta go to dinner” 😂🗻
Always liked your videos, love them now. Your comments are a great strength. Thank you.
That looks incredible
It all looks yummy . Another great video dude:)
Thanks for the video..
It always makes me giggle when Mikey pronounces cauliflower wrong!!!🤣
Cal-uh flower 😅
I don't think he eats that many vegetables.
Calleyflower 😂
Callah Flowar
He pronounces it the same way I do though. Is that wrong?
So beautiful!! And food looks delicious!
My favorite foods !!! I love salmon & king crab !!! Thank you for sharing Juneau , Alaska Beautiful ! Safe travels Mikey !
Thank you for visiting my home ❤️ I live in Washington now and I always miss it
Sir...that marshmallow was FAR from toasted 😂😂😂

that looks way better than the salmon bake in Fairbanks! Glad to see you in my home state!
Loved the ALASKAN Crab nice...
i live in Alaska and Sockeye is my Fav and it's never dry when i cook it mine is usually super fatty and savory only use butter salt and pepper and lemon but not to much
Alaska, Colorado, and Oregon all look like this. Beautiful.
We eat there everytime we go to Juneau and we're there about a month ago.
Really want more of the Alasken series lol
Yay! My hometown🎉
I’ve been to Alaska twice and Man…has that glacier receded. I’ve always wanted to try that crab place eventhough I’m not a crab person.
That is the best crab ive ever had. And he isn't joking about that bisque either. Delicious!
How do u eat that nachos and then dinner?
Yum! Big ups to you Mike Chen 🤙
You're missing g out on Anchorage and Homer also! Really good Alaskan Hawaiian foods
Love me some Coho, and I am bummed I didn't get to see you while you were here. Been watching for years, this is my work account, but my personal account has been subscribed to you for a long time now.
When you were talking about the salmon bake, I prefer Coho, and love King Salmon.
Would never of thought that there would be Filipinos there
Lots of Filipinos in Alaska because they work at the seafood processing plants.
The food looked amazing. This was a really good episode. 🌻
I want to visit Alaska so bad. Until then though I'm going on a cruise in the Mediterranean this summer. Split in Croatia, the Greek isles including Mykonos, followed by Venice, Ravenna, and Rome.
IT’S ABOUT TIME YOU CAME TO MY STATE ‼️‼️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 ENJOY ALL THE SEAFOOD AND GREAT SCENERY ‼️
Great video Mike!
How tall were those kids! That blew my mind
"Yeah here you can make your own s'mores over a campfire" I didn't see any s'more, there was no chocolate or graham cracker. The marshmallow wasn't even toasted.
Cry baby
It says "you" can, "he" doesn't have to

Man next time come to Anchorage, would love to have met you!
6:37 are those guys giants or is Mike just short?
He’s short. Very short.
@@bixby451 But he eats like a few giants.🤣
Beautiful view😊❤
My dad hunted and fished in Alaska every yr, he went to Juno many times
Oh my gosh that food looked so delicious that was awesome
Hi C-Dawg!!!
Don't think Mikey listed the places in the description, but the Salmon Bake is called Gold Creek Salmon Bake.
Let’s get your drinks of choice ready for the “umami” drinking game!!! Large chug/small shot for each time Mike says “umami”!!! First drink comes before 1:00 so grab a few drinks y’all!!!😂😂😂 Edit: Did I miss any because he only said it once.
I’m jealous Mike, yummy crabs and scallops 🤙😎
POV: When Santa's reindeer retire, they end up there as food
(Excuse my dark humor, but you have to admit it was funny LOL)
Much as I like the fattier tunas, if it's going to be grilled or smoked, I'll take sockeye which holds up to that.
Where is the king crab coming from if the season has been closed for at least two years now?
Probably Japan
A few yards away, in Russian waters?
My Home State!!!❤
Also keep in mind its a cruise stop and the capital so prices reflect that as well as it being a fly in and ferry in place lol.
Dang just a minute and we get umami. Let the drinking game begin.
Stop watching else u’ll become an alcoholic
What a beautiful plate.
34 dollars for this little plate ? I'm sorry am I gonna be the only one shocked ?
With it containing scallops it doesn't surprise me. Scallops usually have one of the highest markups in restaurants.
That's because there no roads leading here, everything gets here by barge or plane. The cost of living here isn't cheap.
If you didn’t know. Everything is more expensive in AK due to import/export!
Imported goods are expensive.
Also, good seafood in any form is expensive.
This video makes me even more excited to have Tracie’s again when I go to Alaska in October 🤤
I remember when that combo #1 was around $20.
There is some crazy sticker shock on the king crab today
Ya missed a local dive Sandbar Grill and Bar for the best fish and chips around.
hi mike, just want to ask, what's you vlogging setup? 😀
Muito obrigado pelo vídeo! 🇵🇹

I worked there for a summer. It wasn't as good as I was expecting, but maybe it's different now.
Ohhhhhh loooks so good

Your NOT on a Cruise ??? You have to do a Cruise out
of Seattle on either PRINCESS or HOLAND AMERICAN ...
Fantastic...
Better be eating that salmon skin. My favorite part. As long as it's crispy
Thanks for sharing this from 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 hope you came back on the Philippines and most of all loving our food
welcome to my home state, we truly are a food melting pot no rules so enjoy the taste. nothing beats fresh wild caught Alaska seafood!
Bonza living the dream 😂😂❤❤😂😂❤😂😂😂❤😂😂😂😂😂🎉
You should dip that king crab on that filipino vinegar soooo good!!! 🤤🤤🤤
Thanks For this mike! Love your content! Keep up the good work ❤❤❤❤
at 3:01 mins, i agree, i have tried sockeye salman many times and i never liked it ever. and that is so over cooked that its super dry looking.
Every time I buy sockeye salmon, I’m disappointed in myself cause I keep buying stuff I never like.
Is cauliflower from California called califlower, Mickey?
Only 24 hours in Alaska? Geez, I can't imagine going all the way up there just to spend a day. (I know that's kind of a trend on the channel, but still...)
probably a layover. A lot of intercontinental flights pass thru alaska
who whouldve thought alaska had some great food!
You coming to Anchorage or Homer?
Damn didn't know u came here. Would have been cool to meet you haha.
