Faith is only underrated because she’s such a lousy inconsistent live singer. In the studio for her first 4 albums, she was one of the best of her generation. He/she literally chose her best performances this decade for this video. I love Faith and I wish she stepped her game back up.

The thing I love about Fantasia, Faith, Kim, and DORINDA is that they all used to or still do have clear tones. Like Fantasia can use both clear/rasp. Faith used to have a clear heavily influenced KCS styled tone (which still is there under all that rasp she has now). Kim BURRELL had a clear powerful high chest in the 80’s then it got raspy but now IT’S BACK Lately Kim Burrell has been belt and running in high chest like nobody’s business. Now Dorinda Clark Cole used to have a beautiful clear sweet soprano back when the clark sisters first came out wayyy back, in the 80’s and early 90’s but when she started preaching heavily it got raspy but she can still hit them notes, run and scat at the same time👸🏽💯

Yes, Lalah should definitely be here. The woman can straight split her vocals, just amazing. And Anita is great too- she reminds me of her mom. It was a blessing getting to here them on Sunday morning as a child.
Lauryn, India, Lalah and Anita do not have rasp or grit. India might have it slightly when she gets into her upper register, but for the most part nope. All of them are alot with beautifully rich tones, but that's not what this particular video is celebrating.

The science behind a raspy voice is so interesting to me. I always wonder if they experience hoarseness at a faster rate that singers without raspy voices. But Brandy, Jazmine, Fantasia and Faith’s voice touch me in a different way.
It’s a big difference between a growler, screamers, belters, and someone who has a raspy voice, And deep rich tone.
