The album's subject swifted from the original - that's about life and madness - to the concept of death and afterlife.
Breathe is now about a man just living his last breathes ("leave\but don't leave me"); On the run is about the final fight between life and death and it finishes with "Begone!". Time is self-explanatory, Great gig is introduced by a bell sound for a dead, and it's about a death and rememberings on a shelf.
At the end of Great Gig Roger says "And now the crossroads". In the voodoo language the crossroads are the portal between life an death.
The subsequent songs are the afterlife judgement: the hell is represented by Money, Purgatory is represented by Us and them and our human sins -after all we're only ordinary men. The paradise is only for the innocents, mad people who start playing different tunes (I love when Roger chuckles saying this line, referring to the Redux).
So Roger's Redux album is about death. He's 80 and he feels his life is getting to an end. And he's scared, and this album represents his actual fears, about what will happen.
In fact at the end of the record, after eclipse, if you turn up the volume, you can barely hear Roger asking: "It isn't all dark, isn't it?"

I found Redux to be hypnotic.

Johnny Cash sang "Hurt" and it was beautiful in its flawed way. I'm hoping DSOTM-Redux might be that for Roger.

Nice review. I really loved it. The sound on it is very unique compared to other pf related releases and even Roger's previous solo work.

I love both those guys, Roger and David, and I wish they would reconcile. I understand that both of them have occasionally made attempts to do so. It would be sad if they ultimately never do.

Their work together was incredible and they have a history together - we can but hope.

They could but I think most of us are not getting the memo. Even if they do, it's not like they'd go back in the studio together. They're done with that creatively for 40 years now. Doesn't mean they don't appreciate what they did together. Clearly they do. But creatively you need to move one.
