Bipolar and Unipolar Audio Signals | Pure Data Tutorial

  • In this tutorial I explain the fundamental concept of bipolar/unipolar signals. Bipolar ones oscillate between positive and negative values (in digital audio values are normalized in the range -1 to 1). On the other hand Unipolar signals oscillates between positive values only (0 to 1).
    Bipolar signals are used to generate audio while the unipolar ones are mainly used as control signals for effects like tremolo, vibrato, modulations, panning and so on.
