@@craig1lengyel This sort of canopy is probably the most common ute/pickup setup in Australia. People buy bare frame trucks and have a tray/canopy added aftermarket. Used by tradies for tools as well as the enthusiast crowd. With many of them, you can put legs at each corner and jack the self contained canopy up, then drive away with a bare tray. It takes about 20 minutes (unless you have an extensive electrical setup). Some people even run two canopies, one for work and one for play. This one is made by Norpro, but you can find them by searching for ‘lift off canopy’.

@@YBSExtras Hi Brodie, a simple idea and saving a lot of space plus having a sleeping area. In the same area where you have your rods and surf board build 2 long false floors of 20 cm heights, down the bottom lay padding and as many PVC pipes as you can for rods, top it with the first padded floor to keep the pipes secured and not swaying around.do the same for the surf board on top of it, making sure padding first. On top you will have ample space to lay a mattress a relax. Have a great day.

@@YBSExtras How about a board rack and/or rod rack on your canopy doors, on both side. Easy lift up out of the way when you need to access inside the canopy and right there at head height when the canopy doors are shut. You see people with racks on their canopy doors for 4x4 gear like Recovery boards, jacks and shovel plus more. Surely you could have it custom made to hold and secure rods and boards

Ok. I have a tip. For the refrigerator you could use clear caulking (silicone), not sure what you call it since I’m in the U.S.. Putting beads of caulking in the corners and maybe in the middle for each shelf will keep them from falling and you can just peel off the chalking if you want to move the shelf. Also, for the carpet, it is designed to hold but be removable to replace damaged carpet. What I did on my 4x4 vehicle is screw on metal edge strips such as what may be used on the floor to separate carpeting from a hard floor such as tile or wood. I used spray glue for the carpeting on my truck and had the edging so it didn’t come off...even on a weekend trip in the Mojave Desert at 112 deg.F (44.4 deg. C). Love the videos.

On that back section I would secure fishing storage tubes to the ceiling of the tour box inside. That is currently wasted space. Rod nose in first and that pulls them off the floor and leaves whole bottom section for boards. I have seen storage that has cut out to have reel rest or shorter tube with a bungee cord wrapped around handle. Have several buddies that storage rods that way. Keeps the safe and quick in and out. For boards maybe small separator in the middle.

Hey Brodie 🙌🏻, a simple, cheap and effective idea for fishing rod storage I found is going to Bunnings and grabbing some PVC piping, long enough to suit your rods, pull apart or not, and wide enough to store how ever many rods you like (just gotta take the reels off if need be). It's convenient storage on top on the roof rack, and out of the way where they can't get broken, they're hidden from the sun and weather and you can lock them away with an end pin through the caps of the pipe, they're awesome to sticker bomb with any stickers you may have or wanna chuck on, and it's simple to use.
Or you could even mount it inside your canopy high up and out of the way 👍🏻
    Cheers 🍻

I believe you call it a bonnet we call it a camper shell in the states I have one on one of my trucks. Mounted the fishing poles to the ceiling of the campership / bonnet. Keep them out of the way and from being damaged. Use PVC on one end to hold the handle and a bungee to hold the other end. plenty of room on the ceiling and it also keeps them out of the weather. Another solution yes to make a rod holder rack for the front bumper which we use for longer rods if we are surf fishing. Just need to keep an eye on when you're in the bush We're Going Under Lowe structures. Brodie you're the best I hope this helped. Cheers from South Central Texas.

Look on line for trimtex spay cans it might help with the carpet coming off. It’s a product that I have used for putting steel externals on villaboard when I was plastering. It’s an adhesive but it’s a strong bond all you have to do is spray it on both surfaces and make sure you get it in place pretty quickly because it takes 10 seconds to bond and it is solid bond. Have you noticed that the rear wheels are tracking different to the front wheels and people have asked Toyota and other specialist and no one knows why it’s built this way.

A length of pvc pipe capped at both ends makes a really good diy rod holder when mounted to the side of your roof racks or canopy. Only problem is that you cant have the reels on them

a good quickfix for rods is a 12cm PVC pipe with threaded endcaps in whatever length you need fastened to the roof rack. you can even get lockable endcaps that can be padlocked for theft security.

Find a spot on the top of your canopy to put a bit of PVC pipping for your rods. Just have to take the reels off. But space saving and safe keeping for your rods 👌

Build a upper shelf above where your surf board is to slide your rods in unharmed . You could prolly hook a few bungie cords , front ,back ,and middle and make a little hammock style holder for your rods

I know you love to leave your rods rigged so you need to counter for the impetus the weight of those reels adds to the way the rods will move underway, ideally you would have them reel forward tip back if you wanted to store them loose. sideways they get smashed. I opted for pvc pipes on the roof, I had 2 for rods, one for water with a tap and by drilling a hole through the cap and pipe I could easily secure the rods with a padlock, If you insist on sideways storage you need to divide that space into a forward board rack, wide enough for the board and curve but cut out for the fins, you could almost go 2 high if you tiered the slots which would separate the fins, like brickwork, 1 low, 1 high, 1 low for your 3 main boards, with high density foam at either end to protect the pointy bits and lock them in place. Behind that make a separate vertical slot wide enough for your widest reel, with XHD clamps on the rear (stronger) wall base, middle and tip, and rack them tip, butt, tip, butt, bottom to top, I reckon you could get 5 in that vertical space but if you wanted all butts the same end maybe 3, bolt the suckers in. For the carpet, theres gotta be the right glue for that heat, shouldn't be hard to patch up.

Brodie for the height issue on the pullouts from the canopy, get a CLEARVIEW drop down cook top/ pantry. Make the height lower to you but also raise up for storage

You might want to check on one of those spray on Rhino Coatings for the interior of your box. I live in the Southeast U.S. and gets as hot here as it does in your area. I've never seen any of it melt or get sticky in the heat.

I love that 79 series although we don’t have them in the USA. I think in terms of your fishing poles you can go on Amazon and get three gun racks for a side-by-side like what you have and screw them in very easily and they will hold your fishing poles in place. As far as a surfboard you could just put that in a sleeping bag and that should be fine unless it gets so hot that the wax melts and then you have a problem. I have a lifted 2018 Ford F2 50 with a 6.2 L engine sitting on 35’s and I pull boats and go hunting in the woods and I love my truck. Congratulations on that 79 series definitely a bad ass vehicle. You only live once so you should buy something to make you happy.

For your rods Brodie grab a rack for the front grille or the rear to put them all in vertically. Also you could get a board rack for the roof.

The hand break part, when I parked my car at slope area, after the engine stopped, I set the gear stick to 1st gear (or may be any gear) and it did the job, worth to try I think.

I don’t know what they are called but I know there is some rod holders which come above the roof of the car from the front and lay on the top, plus adding a roof rack to store your boards and for the rods to lay on would be very good. Just a suggestion but cheers

Hey mate, you mentioned that you haven't washed the car since taking the keys and I thought I'd say that is not good. Salt, silt, water and sand in the under carriage can cause big headaches if left unattended. I know it looks sick when it's dirty but it's a good habit to keep it clean when you can to avoid further headaches.

the rods in holders on the back, board strapped to the side of the canopy, frees up the whole thing for whatever you want. Like a spear gun rack, freezer, air compressor to control bag pressure and run tools, tv, Internet via Starlink, full on bush command center. As for mods, air suspension for the ski trailer, Garrett g series turbo for a smoother torque curve and faster spool, and a way to bring your intake air temp down on those 40+° days. Air to water intercooler right before the throttle body, meth, nitrous, something. Even the gold heat tape on the charge pipes, compressor housing, and intake would help.

You have an empty shelf in there on the left side of the truck un bolt it and move it over the the blank space side (where ur board is currently) and u can use that to hold your rods, this will separate them. Great video man . Keep up the good work. :)

Good morning Brody, an idea for the back for the rods and boards, Cody from the wranglerstar UA-cam channel outfitted a van for adventure, not as extreme as yours, but with some good ideas, he used a piece of steel channel attached to the walls that had holes in it that you could attaché rivnuts too, threaded inserts they attach like big rivets. You could put a few channels like that in the space no then bolt whatever holders and racks you need, then if you need more space , remove them for bigger cargo. I think the name of his video was diy 3 panel bed in the adventure van and the tool was featured towards the end

I'd love to get some more of that content but I could be the odd man out on this too.
