    It's crazy since you're so young but so knowledgeable and good. I play euphonium as well, 18 years old.

    Surprising how these tips are also useful for other instruments such as bassoon

    AWESOME! I played Trumpet from fourth grade till the end of High School with braces on my teeth! It was terrible. Braces came off when I was 16. My range soured! Decided to Major in Music. Switched to Baritone Horn. (Less Competition), my High School Band Director had already advised me to switch. But, I was a Trumpeter! (snobbish). So there I was with my Besson Euphonium at the Hartt College of Music at the University of Hartford in Connecticut. I Loved my time there. You play beautifully and explain every thing so well. You Are Awesome!

    Lately I've been growing more and more frustrated with the way I sound on euphonium, my sound is not particularly bad when playing single notes like long tones, but when I play anything that requires any movement I repetitively air notes, and I cannot figure out why... when I do play them correctly and they aren't aired, my sound goes down in quality... would you know how I can stop airing notes and keep tone quality through moving sections? I strive to sound like you do, I can't imagine how much practice it must have taken to get to the point you are at. That etude was just perfection.

      It may sound contradictory, but practice air attacking notes making them come out immediately without the tongue. Articulation is created when the air meets the buzz and the tongue is just something to clarify it, but it seems like your air is late in the equation. I'll give you a lesson if you would like just fill out the form in the description!

      Alright, I'll try that, thank you for your help and explanation! I have practiced air attacking notes in the past, but not extensively enough to possibly fix my issue, so I'll edit this comment later if I see results.

    Trumpet player here! I wish i had this video when I first started on trumpet over two years ago. The way you explain everything can be applied to almost of not all wind instruments. Thanks for the video

    How about the top of the upper register and beyond? It's hard to reach without tension.

    • @misseuphonium
      @misseuphonium  9 місяців тому +5

      Anchor on the lower lip to alleviate pressure on the top lip! Start at a note where you already make a good sound then work up chromatically keeping the sound beautiful, thinking about not using too much tension. Hope this helps!
