A very close year with Toseland, Laconi and Haga in battle all season.

This was a cracking race. I still remember watching it on BBC (the last year they covered SBK). I seem to remember that the deal was that they showed highlights of Race 1 and Race 2 was shown live.
Toseland deserved the title that year, but part of me wanted Vermulen to win it, as while everyone else had ups and downs through the year, he quietly racked up the points.
One of my earliest bike racing memories was watching Magny Cors 2004 on the BBC as a 9 year old. Became a JT 52 fan for life
Good times, but the 750 inline 4 and 1000 v2 epoch was my favourite. It has the same feeling as the B class in Rally

There should be laws against ruining great circuits like Assen. National Heritage or whatever 🤔
