      Shepard was literally space Jesus. If they went back to the Milky Way I wouldn't be surprised if they came to find that 1000+ after ME3 the dominant religion was "The Church of the Shepard".

      Control end, the religion is the "Cult of Assuming Shepard control".
      Except for the Hanari. They pray their greatlord, Javik, and they recalled it in "Cult of the throw it out the airlock and eat primitives".

      Liara was saying goodbye and good luck in her last message to Alec-I think she didn't believe they were going to win the Reaper war. But Shepard did the impossible one last time and ended the Reaper threat for good, one way or another. Of course, with trillions dead, entire systems devastated and depopulated and even the Citadel itself a wreck, on top of the Relays at best being severely damaged? The Milky Way Galaxy as they know it IS gone. But, depending on what choice Shepard makes, it could be anything from a 600-year-old wreck where what's left of organic life scrapes by to a Paradise of a kind even SAM cannot imagine.
      Two things always annoyed me about Andromeda as a result: a Reaper could undoubtedly make the 600 year journey to Andromeda far faster than the Arks and, if Shepard did make the "Synthesis" or "Control" choice, why wouldn't one? To let the colonists and adventurers know the truth? Also, why are these the only messages received from the Milky Way galaxy? Liara T'Soni could easily still be alive 600 years later. Are we meant to believe that technology capable of sending messages to another galaxy simply hasn't been developed in 600 years? They'd have to rebuild, certainly, but they WOULD-and a 100,000 strong healthy population safe in a different galaxy would be a massive investment. Liara, at the very least, would want to know if they made it-and she'd undoubtedly have the means.
      Plus, Grunt, likely the other member of Shepard's team who'd likely still be around 600 years later. Likely as the leader of a resurgent Krogan people.
      Maybe I'm too invested in the original trilogy, although I prefer not to think about the ending. But, even with cameo's of relatives of people who appeared in the original trilogy (Conrad Verners sister? Zaeed Massani's son? Quite possibly The Illsuive Mans daughter?) it would have been good to get some answers...

    • @Shvabicu
      @Shvabicu 3 роки тому +4

      @@Creasy5678 the ME4 trailer and twitter comments from Bioware suggest we'll see both galaxies in the next installment. Liara is probably a Matriarch, Grunt should still be around and the Reapers were either destroyed or decommissioned by the Shepard AI.
      Quantum entanglement communication exists in the ME universe, but that technology can't be retrofitted and quantum pairs must be separated before installing the communication devices at both ends.
      Anyway, I think the Milky Way races will rebuild the relay network in those 600 years and send the technology to connect the Nexus to a rebuilt Citadel through Ark 6. The Citadel is the most powerful Mass Relay and was used for a direct connection to dark space by the Reapers, so it's quite plausible that it could be paired to the Nexus if it had the same technology installed.

      I think that this is the best part of the whole game. I've completed the main story already and can tell you that these messages/logs from Alec Ryder (particularly the last few logs which you reference) are the only part of ME:A's entire story that actually gave me goosebumps.
      The rest of the story and writing is unrelatable generic trash which you can find in any sci-fi b-movie straight to video material.

    I kind of figured that the Andromeda initiative was a fail safe to get to a new galaxy to not be in the milky way when the reapers invaded, i just didn't know that there were others besides Shepard pre Eden Prime incident who knew of the incoming invasion and that's why the Andromeda initiative was created, and that they tie the warnings Garrus told us about his what his father said was linked to this and Alec Ryder...that is perfect way to tie this into the main trilogy

      The illusive man had been exposed to a reaper artifact many years before Shepard became an spectre if I recall correctly. It happened in a comic. So yeah he knew, but Shepard's claims made it a serious threat, that's why they were scared.

      but you have to remember he funded the Initiative after it was founded so it was likely that the other arks were already under construction and in the hands of the other races but placing agents within the initiative could allow him to later follow through with his pro human agenda.

      There's enough planets in the ME universe that once had obvious signs of sentient life that were snuffed out, their surfaces scarred by kinetic impact craters. Add the fact that the Protheans somehow disappeared despite 'building the citadel and mass relays', and that there's an entity which has been around for literally billions of years, it shouldn't be hard to imagine that enough bits of information can be pooled together and figured out, even if only a little bit, by a determined effort. I'm also of the mind that it's a completely new person, but I have few doubts that there are a handful of others in the ME universe that knew about the reapers, even if only a little bit. Not to mention, the codex about the reapers in the ME games states that they're a myth common to many cultures and I'm sure there are a few spots on the ole extranets that have conspiracy theories about them. Also in ME1, Shepard can say that the name 'reapers' sounds vaguely familiar when Tali first reveals the incriminating evidence on Saren.

    • @LightStreak567
      @LightStreak567 7 років тому +16

      +Duane Clarence He was already indoctrinated, for little more than 30 years to be exact. The Mass Effect Evolution comic books explain his origin story. He implanted Reaper tech into all Cerberus soldiers so that none of them will see The Illusive Man as a "control the Reapers" obsessed maniac who cares more about harnessing the Reapers' powers than defending the lives and freedoms of the human race, and defect to Shepard's side, or the Alliance for that matter, so indoctrination is the only way for his soldiers to understand the logic of the Reapers and oppose Shepard and the Alliance. The implants Illusive Man put inside himself before ME3 jump-started his degradation into becoming a fully cybernetic human like Ben in Mass Effect Evolution, something that should have happened to him years ago when he was zapped by the Arca Monolith, but for some reason he remained mostly organic up until the day he implanted himself with Reaper tech.

The Milky Way is in no shape or form already explored, the codex says that less then 1% of all the planets were visited. So why is everyone talking in this dumb ass game like the galaxy is already done and there is nothing new to find.
      They need to pick a cannon ending and go from there or make a prequel inside the Milky way. What is the point of saying all of the ME3 endings are canon, if we don't get to see the aftermath.

    motivation to finding a suitable planet for your species. Also I
    suppose, revealing everything to his children or Cora could potentially
    break them because of the added strain of knowing such horrific things
    and the pressure of being the last hope of everything (what Shepard felt
    in ME3).
    Hence the slow bit by bit process of revealing such info to the Pathfinder.

      Pure Cancer No, it's most likely control. Geth and other AI still live, there's no drastic change in all of the species, and Shepard is still alive and in control of the reapers, which can have some sort of future effect, like , for an example, if the Kett try to invade the Milky Way.

    • @WarthogRacer
      @WarthogRacer 7 років тому +2

      Yeah, but the Milky Way races had an understanding of how standard FTL travel worked (maybe not of how the Reaper built Relays did or how to create them) and how to build FTL drives. I think it's safe to say there had to be some improvement to FTL technology and the concepts behind it (heck they might've made their own Relays, who knows), over the 600 years it took the Initiative to reach Andromeda.

    • @Rylus571
      @Rylus571 7 років тому +2

      so in theory, if they achieve reaper level technology a ship leaving for andromeda a 100 years later could beat the arks by 300 years of course they could get their instantly in they build some sort of galaxy relay.

    • @feddyvonwigglestein3481
      @feddyvonwigglestein3481 7 років тому

      It's also mentioned in the ME3 codex that Reapers appear to not only violate laws of physics but don't require any fuel reserves. So if they wanted to, they could have sent some ships to wipe out the fleeing arks and start harvesting the andromeda races...I mean, they're more than twice as fast! And since they'd be away from the relay system, none of the endings would have any effect on them, since that's how the crucible's result is sent. Only thing is maybe since QEC is such an integral part of their tech, the control ending may give Shepard control over the ones flying around in dark space too...

      to everyone saying that the reapers would have gotten the information from Shepard if Liara told him/her you guys do know that the Illusive man was indoctrinated by the Reapers, right?
      The Illusive man obviously had something to do with the Arks which means he knew about the Andromeda project. Since the Illusive man ended up indoctrinated by the reapers it's hard to believe that the reapers wouldn't have knowledge about it anyway which means there's no point in not telling Shepard about the Andromeda project.

  • @masterchief3989
    @masterchief3989 7 років тому +29

    BTW, I know this is not an appropriate platform, but the theory that Shepard was being indoctrinated is complete bullshit. Here's why:
    1. Shepard seeing the kid again and again in the prologue is not a sign, it's bad recycling of kid based models. If you look around, all ME characters have the same physique no matter the gender; just facial Permutaions and Combinations to make diverse characters. The kid was the only being shown hence, only a single character to fill all rolls.
    2. More importantly, if Shepard was already in the process of indoctrination, then the Prothean Jarvik would have killed him on the spot. Shepard's experiences and his connection to Sovereign AND Harbinger would have given him away the second Jarvik touched him OR if Liara melded with him.
    3. The Prothean VI in the Temple of Athame had no qualms of revealing what the Catalyst was but immediately shut down on detecting an indoctrinated person when Kai Leng walked in. Else, the VI would have recognised SHEPARD as being indoctrinated and shut itself down.
    4. Shepard would never have been able to kill the Reaper on Rannoch as Reapers don't allow killing of their own kind; Harbinger would NEVER allow such a precious asset to die.
    5. Leviathan would have killed Shepard if he found out Shepard was indoctrinated as that would mean Shepard was broadcasting Leviathan's location to the Reapers. Remember, Leviathan had dug deep into Shepard's mind.
    6. Shepard did NOT know the Catalyst unless it was revealed to him by the Prothean VI in the Elusive Man's lab. If he was indoctrinated, he would have known about it the second the Elusive Man revealed it to the Reapers.
    7. The Elusive Man's mind control couldn't have worked on Shepard.
    8. Harbinger left the battlefield as he saw the Marauder hiding behind the rock and incorrectly calculated that it was sufficiently armed to stop anyone approaching the beam.
    9. Shepard survived Harbinger's attack because he was wearing N7 suit and had cybernetic implants all over his body that was designed to keep him alive. Remember, he barely survived re-entry because of his N7 suit. The whole theory of him imagining the battle later on is crap.
    10. In the last epilogue, we see Shepard surviving the Citadel's blast on accepting the Renegade option. That was NOT on earth, it was the Citadel itself. He was near the core which had extreme shielding from space, hence the "concrete stones".
    11. Shepard kept hearing voices when he slept which the Theory says is of his mind trying to fight it off. However, if you listen carefully, they are all people Shepard sacrificed; Kaiden particularly stands out. Near the end, we hear everyone, that is just Shepard suffering from PTSD.

    My Theory on the "benefactors" I believe there was multiple ones. I believe that Cerberus and the Citadel council secretly funded this initiative. Its likely that Cerberus was the first to fund the Initiative, seeing as Humanity had just barely avoided a full scale war with the Turians, 20 years before the initiative was founded. It was probably funded as a hedge against the possibility war would spark again and this time the rest of the Citadel species would come down on Earth. It was only after the event of the Mass Effect in 2183 that the council becomes involved. They couldn't be seen funding what would be seen as a program designed to escape a disaster, it would cause a mass panic along with let the Reapers know that they knew what was going to happen. They probably secretly funded it while publicly calling it a pipe dream and unrealistic. I also believe the Shadow Broker was funding it and trying to buy time for it to launch. Its probably why he was trying to get a hold of Shepard's body. That and the human colonies being wiped out this would buy the Initiative time to launch. I believe the broker intended to be on one of the Arks, probably the Quarian ark along with the Drell, Hanar, Elcor and Volus. It would also explain the Collective. They are probably Shadow Broker agents. With Cerberus under Reaper control, its likely the Reapers would dispatch a contingent of ships after the Arks. I think we'll probably see a few reapers in the future.

    Hearing those SOS distress calls... Jesus imagine being Ryder and being hit with everything we gradually assimilated too over time at once. To hear the Galaxy under attack and not knowing how it ended, believing that the Nexus and the Arks may be all that is left for an entire galaxy...
    Then there are the Quarians.... Their ark was delayed for a year remember? What if in the next game, we see them re appear... After being fired at Andromeda out of desperation as the Reapers arrive...
    But that throwback to Garrus' dad was fantastic, Garrus thought he was talking to his father because he had nobody left, but he never knew his father was one of the hidden hands that sped up the Initiative. Someone listened, they actually listened when Shepard warned them of the inevitable.
    This was a fantastic throwback to the old games. Kudos to bioware on it.
    I have a feeling the Benefactor may be TIM. Who else has the resources to do this? The Shadow Broker? Possibly.
    But now we see the Initiative was a backup plan for the reaper invasion. If all was truly lost, then the arks would keep a small pocket of the milky way safe from the storm... While the rest of the Galaxy burned.

      and the Kett are the ones Reapers feared the rumor they heard of the destroyer of worlds that swolled more galaxies then they cycled on Milky Way they changed the protocol mostly to defend Milky Way from outside invaders thats why they even stayed in galactic outter Rim mostly so they attack from behind an outter alien life form

    People who think the Reaper links were the only interesting thing about this game are what's wrong with the ME fanbase. You'd enjoy Andromeda a lot more if you quit letting it be in the original's shadow. It's not like the original trilogy was a shining example of writing either

      Gotta agree to that. The story was great and the ability to travel and experience another galaxy is thrilling. The only downside for me was the lack of animations/overall crappy animation. Some of the animation was fixed, but there's still so much more than could be done.
      Overall, fantastic game, and I do so hope they continue expanding the Andromeda chapter

    Initially looked up this video because Sara Ryder wasn't in the third memory for me. No dialogue, no subtitles, no character model. Next memory showed the "benefactor" shifting from multiple species, but I suppose that was to hide their identity. Hope no one else has had to experience glitchy cutscenes

    I have a thought. One of the major threats from the Reapers is the indoctrination effect they have on other species, it's even shown that after they are "killed" the Reapers can still indoctrinate other life forms. Imagine if the destroy ending was chosen. (I don't remember exactly if the Reapers were left in one piece). Their carcasses would litter the Milky Way galaxy, and there were a lot of them. If there were any remnants of life left, they would be collectively screwed. The control and synthesis endings are basically in favor of the Reapers (if the indoctrination theory is to be believed). So if we go off the Indoctrination theory, any of the choices would have doomed the milky way galaxy.

    I didn't know Liara, as part of Shepard's crew was so hopeless about the Crucible. In ME3 she did not display such viewpoint. But in the end, the war was won, the andromeda folks can go back at any time

    Technically. Alec created the first synthetic life. And the reapers are not longer needed.

      Sorry I didn't say this correctly. Remember how one of the outcome for mass effect 3 is that synthetic life forms and organic life forms would become one. Alec had technically already started it. So the reapers would no longer be needed.

    I mean the nexus news reports keep talking about trying to contact the milky way. Shepard and everyone else is long dead except Liara and Grunt and both of them can be killed in ME3. It's amazing to know you experienced Shepard's fight and Ryder will never know that struggle or how it concluded.

    Be interesting to see (if it's ever revealed) which ending they chose to be canon. They certainly pushed synthesis in original ME, but the lack of communication with the Milky Way suggests that the FLT Geth comm array is out of commission (i.e. destroy ending?). Or it could be The Scourge blocking long-range communications.

  • @russellpuff1996

    Idk how exactly ME 3 ends, but my theory is that the reapers will have harvested the information regarding the Andromeda Initiative and will set their course to the Galaxy. Who knows how close they could had been following the Arks, depending how fast they caught the information. If they harvest advanced technology, they would want SAM. I can see a trilogy coming out of Andromeda where eventually it leads to a fight for the Helius Cluster and maybe even the entire Galaxy. I can see Ryder saying, "The Milky Way wasn't prepared. This time we will." and idk if Shepherd survives in ME 3, but there's a possibility he/she could live and end up there and help.

  • @Hunterstiq
    @Hunterstiq 7 років тому

    But you would think that after the events of ME3 that there would be a big advancement in technology, if Shepard chose synthesis(green ending) or a possibility of rebuilding with controlling Reapers or destroying them(Blue and Red ending). 600 years? Liara kind of forgot about them? Hell, the Reapers were going to use the Citadel to travel into the MK Galaxy, no ever thought to see if they could figure out that technology and use it with Andromeda. And if you played Leviathan DLC then you have got the answer to all Reaper tech right there.
    Hard to believe 600 years with no word from the Milky Way is a thing.

    I wonder what it would be like if the Angara or Kett came to the Milky Way in time for the Reaper invasion, I figure they would come to invade or explore depending on which ones came and see the Reapers tearing up everything and all they can do is go "well shit".

    Thinking about it now, the fact that they call them arks should have pointed at that. Arks are typically made to save from something.
