  • Every automatic transmission valve body will wear out over time. Some are more notorious than others. Some wear can lead to massive failures, like on the previous generation of ZF transmission that was used in the BMW 3-series, the 5HP19. In the case of the 6HP19, you just have drivability issues, which is what I have. Basically the shifts are slow, especially the 1st to 2nd shift. There's a noticeable lag and it was very annoying, so I decided to purchase a rebuild valve body from Central Valve Bodies:
    centralvalvebodies.com/
    In this video I will show some issues I faced while installing it.
    If you're looking for a step by step DIY on the procedure, checkout my previous video:

    Been a long time watcher of your videos. Great content, clear and easy to understand. Your audio always good which is a huge plus.
    Started with research when I was considering an e46.
    I went with the e90 xi and have been happy with it.
    I have been planning to do the fluid and sleeves for some time but I have a question for you. Adaption relearn... In both your videos on the 6HP you drive to relearn adaptions
    Other sources say that the ISTA relearn procedure is an absolute must. It is very extensive and has deterred me from doing this.
    I am set up with INPA and a cable, but what is your opinion on the ISTA drive cycle, which varies by software version of the transmission?
    Thank you for the excellent content and I look forward to more

Im planning to replace my valve body with a used one from ebay (the same valve body number i hope) will i need to code the new valve body once replaced or just adaptation will do? Any reason you didn't go with an oversized pressure regulator valve and diy the fix?

    • @50sKid
      @50sKid  2 роки тому +1

      It's not necessarily the pressure regulator that is bad on the 6HP19, that was the 5HP19. Also, you need a special jig and special tooling to install an oversized valve. I'd have spent the $600 in that and more. Would have needed a vacuum rig just to diagnose which valves were bad. It's a lot. Some things are better left to the professionals. :-)
