Ayrton Senna had a style that cannot be copied. We've heard a lot about his clutch and acceleration techniques when he was driving his F1 cars but as far as I know none of the other F1 drivers of the 80s up to today have been able to copy his driving style, my respects to James Hunt for giving this great man the credit he deserved. Rip Ayrton and James ❤
Hearing it from a fan is a given. Hearing it from another racing driver a big statement. Hearing it multiple times from James Hunt in the same race.... There is Senna and then there is everyone else.
Hunt’s commentary after Monaco 1984 is the one that stands out for me. “He’s not about to be world champion this year, he will undoubtedly be world champion in the future if his career continues’. That’s a crazy thing to say about a kid that’s just completed only his sixth race. Hunt was right though of course.
I'd like to hear a lot more modern motorsports commentary like this. Opinionated yes, but also clearly indicating the differences between the racers in terms of experience, skills and especially machinery. F1 and MotoGP are engineering based sports, not the personality section of Eurovision. James Hunt was a huge Senna fan I'm sure this could be expanded out to an hour if you could find the clips.

Hey Alberto Santos, loved the clip, thank you. If you're interested, I made English subtitles for it, and I also machine translated it to Spanish and Portuguese. - The English one is a word for word transcription. (Hopefully there are no mistakes.) - The Spanish one I manually fixed the uglier machine translation errors, and I left it pretty literal. - The Portuguese one I left it raw, since I don't speak Portuguese, but maybe you or someone else can edit the machine errors a bit. UA-cam removed its 'contribute subtitle' (or something) feature, so I have no idea how to share them lol. If you're interested, do you know of some way I can share them with you?

sad watching the Donington 93’ clip considering barely a year later both were gone..

Damn I love it when James Hunt says that!!!
It was also Jame's last ever broadcasting job, he died 3 days later if I'm not mistaken
Probably compliment of the highest order.. of all time
Well Hunt didn't get to see the likes of 7 times champion Schumacher or Hamilton. So I doubt his comments would of been the same...

He had such great respect for Senna. No ego, just facts.
The man from another dimension.
Hunt was the gr8est commentator for Senna - it was obvious he really admired his talent
Only 1 driver had that otherworldly quality. Or 2 if you count Jim Clark.
Thank you James, only greatness is able to acknowledge greatness…
With all due respect to hunt. He was a good driver, definitely a great commentator but if he’s great, lauda is god himself
